But no amount of camming via MFC by consenting adults, deserves the horrors of a Thai Prison.

Yes, the underlying problem is that camming/consensual adult entertainment/porn is outlawed in certain countries. It shouldn't be. We should all be allowed to produce the entertainment we do.

However, that being said....no matter how you look at it, if one wants to break the law of their country, then the due punishment is deserved. Of course we all support Mila, but c'mon...I'd love to operate a marijuana grow op, but its illegal. So I don't do it. Just because you know what you do is right, and shouldn't be outlawed, doesn't mean that you can go around breaking the law. Can you imagine if everyone broke the law as they saw fit? It'd be chaos. And even further, to engage in that kind of risky behaviour while she has kids? Irresponsible. Her children are victims here, but she's not. She could have moved anywhere in the world to be a camgirl but she chose to stay in Thailand for whatever reason. She chose to break the law. Therefore she chose to go to prison. :twocents-02cents: Not trying to offend, or be rude, because I feel for her children and I literally prayed last nite that they are kept safe, but I can't and won't shed a tear for someone who knowingly broke the law and is now paying the price. Like I said earlier...she's not a victim.

Poker, you're doing a really sweet thing but I agree with SpexyAshleigh. I definitely feel for Mila and her kids, but she could have (and probably should have) moved to a different country where camming/producing porn isn't illegal.

All that said, good luck with your fundraiser. Your golden heart is definitely in the right place. :)

I have always liked Mila and hope all works out for her.
From what I can figure there probably won't be a court case as she would be well advised to pay the "fine".
Mila isn't the first, nor will she be the last, to be arrested for porn production in Thai. See below article from Stickmans site,http://www.stickmanweekly.com/StickmanBangkokWeeklyColumn2010/Pattaya-Pornographer.htm He has lived and operated in Thailand for many years and his column has helped lots of people with info.
The lesson here should be, ignorance is not bliss, learn your rights BEFORE you travel or relocate. I know I spent many hours online researching both Thailand and the Philippines before I visited.

Your sentiment is noble but you gain no traction at all in demeaning the religion or cultural traditions of the host country. You are so indignant (or act that way) that you cast aspersions on the story, the police etc.
Does fucked up shit happen sometimes, yes. But 99% of the time the cops don't need to go around making shit up to get an arrest because people get lazy & sloppy & complacent and they do more to get themselves caught then any cop or investigation does

Honestly there are really better things to get into a twist over. Where's the Indian gang rape thread, or the female circumcision thread? Do you know if you are a woman in Saudi Arabia you can be jailed & caned for driving a car ? or if you are raped you need to have 2 witnesses who say it was, otherwise you'll be persuaded that the better thing to do is marry your rapist (and he's likely to kill you someplace down the line for the trouble you've given him AND get off scott free) Wouldn't it be better to put effort into repealing that kind of shit ?

We are talking about a person who knew the risks, flouted them and lived in the lap of luxury. Do you think some Pakistani bride who husband wanted a divorce & she wouldn't grant it and had her face burned off cares ? She probably wishes she had 1st world problems

In the end she'll walk away cause shes European (unless maybe those bad cops planted a ton of meth, that happens every day right ?) she's accept the fact she can never enter Thailand again & she'll pay the fine. Then she'll pick up where she left off in Austria.

Priorities need to get in check

Except this forum is about cam models and camming, NOT about the horrors of fundamentalist murders in some countries.

I doubt any of us know what Mila knew about her situation and safety. Everything is speculation based on a Thai newspaper--not the LA Tribune.

Yeah, I'm biased.

Well whether she knew the risks or not, is besides the point, because like I said in the video, ignorance of the law is not a defense (well at least here it isn't). And yes, you can say that was irresponsible of her to do when there are children involved, the kids had no say in the matter, and are the biggest victims of all. My point is simply that it really urks me that these cops are wasting their time and resources making an example out of her, when they could be going after murders and rapist instead. And that the punishment doesn't fit the crime (well it shouldn't even be a crime to begin with). And I mean no disrespect to Buddhist, I used to practice Buddhism myself years ago.
Oh, and the reason why I posted on this forum about the injustice in this case, is because this is a forum about web cam modeling. Believe it or not, I've been blogging and posting youtube videos trying to bring awareness to lots of other injustices in the world too. I have a separate youtube account just for that purpose. I just don't want the two to be linked together becasue the other one has personal info about me and my family on it.
I have more I want to type but I can't right now because my fiance wants me to spend some time watching a movie with him.

Lol, so uhhh... What were you thinking that time you helped your friend out whist there are people getting their genitals removed against their will in some countries? What about that random selfless act of kindness for a stranger you passed by that time out of the goodness of your heart? What about that time you cared for your sick pet? Are you out fighting the crimes you speak of here, from the comfort of your computer station? Because by your logic, we all need to think about the worst things we can think of before holding out a hand for anyone in a less threatening situation.

If she wants to help her out, there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe when one of my friends gets filthy stinking rich, then gets terminally ill, I'll just abandon her sorry ass because she's a privileged Western lady and "there are worse things happening to other people in the world" that I need to direct my attention towards.

Thank you Whisperly. It reminds me of an old adage I've always hated:

"I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet."

Uh, it STILL sucks to have no shoes, and someone so poor they can't afford shoes probably isn't going to do anything for the man with no feet.

Putting effort into fighting for a cause, whatever cause the person chooses, is always worthwhile. If it's Poker's priority to champion for a fellow camgirl, then good for her and I hope she does well. Just because you don't personally believe in a cause doesn't mean that it shouldn't or can't be a priority for someone else.

thaiprisonovercrowding.jpg

This is a rare photograph that gives you a good idea of how overcrowded prisons are in Thailand. Unlike their American or European counterparts, Thai prisoners live in open rooms with no beds or furniture of any kind. They aren’t even given any bedding. Sheets can be bought and some people stuff these with old clothes in order to make pillows. Each cell is about four metres by seven metres. On each side, people are lying side by side with their feet facing the middle. Then, down the center of the cell, there are two rows of other prisoners. There are on average at least 50 prisoners in this one cell. There isn’t enough room for all of them to lie on their back. New prisoners are only allocated another room to lie on their side. They are packed in so tightly that they cannot turn over. If they have any money, they can bribe the cell boss to let them lie on their backs. But, there isn’t enough room for them to all do that.

The prisoners have already eaten and showered by 3.30 p.m. and then they are taken up to their cells. There are only two fans so you can imagine with so many people in the cell that it heats up quickly and the smell from sweaty bodies becomes overpowering. The squat toilet is at the far end of the cell. This has a low wall about two feet high. Imagine what it would be like if you needed to answer the call of nature during the night and had to clamber over all these bodies. At least the lights are kept on all the time. But then, that is also a curse because it makes it difficult to sleep. The prisoners are locked in here for 14 hours per day. They are not allowed to bring any food up to the cells. If you have enough money, you can bribe the cell boss and prison guards to allow you to be transferred to another cell. But, they are all much the same as each other.

She's getting out on bail, that just means she has to go back to Austria and she is safe. Austria isn't going to let a weak nation like Thailand tell them to extradite someone.

Generally when you get released on bail you have to give up your passport. Sure with enough money she can probably get out of the country, but it isn't like she can buy a airline ticket to Austria and just leave.

I'm sure she has a fan member with enough money to get her out by boat, thats one of the best ways to sneak out of Thailand.

Maybe, I just hope she's THAT lucky...

I just do not understand why she choose Thailand to live in when she even admitted that it was illegal to do porn from there.

She isn't the first girl to cam from someplace where it is illegal, in addition to a number of other Thai models plenty of other models cam from place where what they are doing is illegal.

Porn production is illegal in most places in Asia and South Asia, pixalating genital is generally required in Japan, and it appears it is mostly illegal in Australia albeit not enforced.
It is illegal throughout the Middle East
It is is also illegal in much of Eastern European and the former Soviet Union states. Although legal in Russia.
Generally legal in most places in the Americas, and Europe.

The wiki article has a nice summary.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pornography_laws_by_country#Australia

All speculation which i have no facts, but only observation, that i can offer a guess. I think she first considered Thailand as a resort or retreat destination, and in that capacity found it a fairly safe place to cam from. Thailand is beautiful, and the Thai woman the most beautiful in Asia IMhO. Also, for all the laws prohibiting just about everything sex trade related, prostitution is openly tolerated, and a major part of the economy of the tourist trade in parts of Thailand. (Pattaya being one of which i am familiar.)

I think over the course of some years Mila made contacts, fell in love, and became very comfortable with Thailand, and the idea of making it a permanent or semi-permanent residents. I think there may have been other advantages, such as being a location where the taxation of her income was easily avoided, and possibly the access to a population of young Thai woman who she could employ in her own, all be it, clandestine studio. (I mean no disrespect by that comment, - the work environment of Mila's compound, would no doubt be better than that of the streets of Pattaya.)

I think Mila must have had some understanding with local authorities. To think local authorities where unaware of her presents, or simply had no interest in what she did, is absurd. I think the problem arose when she ether pissed someone off, or a connection to drugs was made. (Drugs unlike prostitution something never over looked and vigorously policed.) It may have also been a case of the wrong integrous official learning of the camming, but I think that is less likely. (Then again we always tend to believe the most insidious things, over other less corrupt options.)

All pure speculation, but to answer your question, - I think Mila got too comfortable with the idea that she was somehow immune to falling a foul of the laws of Thailand, and it offered so much that seemed so nice, she chose to minimize the thought of the potential consequences. :twocents-02cents:

P.S. I respect what PokerBabe and others are doing, and the thought that some effort to cast a voice to the Thai government might change her fate in some way, is nice.... Well it is an honorable effort.

I really do not get why people think crystal meth was planted, there was no need, when they had enough evidence for 20 years in prison for making porn.

And if you read her rants on money laundering its apparent something was making her paranoid, which crystal meth can do. Do you guys even realize how much money a International Criminal Investigation into money laundering would cost. Not to mention private individuals are not going to get a subpoena to have banking records opened as well as ISP and VPN logs.

I do not for a second think planting drugs is beyond the scope of what Thia police are capable, but I don't think it was necessary in this case. The main reason I stopped going into Mila's room, and later un-followed her, was because her demeanor dripped meth. So much so, that even her short tweets often had the effect of bringing me mentally back to a mind-set I was trying to leave behind. (That does not mean she was wired, but it was my impression.)

She always seemed a little off to me,and she has aged alot in the past few years then what seems normal.

sounds like the plot of a film when you describe it like that lol...

A young woman, victimized for being a foreigner in a strange land - a land with gentle people, and evil corrupt police - struggles to get out of the country but there's one thing the police took that she wants back...
