I watched this documentary yesterday Planet of the Humans and I know it's a very sensitive subject for many people but lately I've been thinking a lot about the current situation of humanity. It's very scary that you don't see much change even if the situation seems to be getting worse and worse. It seems like no matter how many 'safety nets' people try to build, every single one of them comes with a big price, sometimes even bigger than the one before. Everything revolves solely around money and the people in charge and that could really make things move faster or actually make a visible change don't really care about where this is all going. The richer are only getting richer but the question is...what's really the purpose if let's say there's not going to be an amazing island to spend your vacations on anymore ?Consumerism is literally killing us and we don't seem to really actually care as long as we can go shopping some more or travel some more and run away from the problems. I know ignorance is bliss but are we really going to ignore this and run away until there's no where to run to ? I'm very curious to hear you opinions on the subject because at least in my country (Romania) people really seem to be completely oblivious. It's like we're living in this Matrix trying to isolate ourselves in big beautiful homes with tall fences and turn a blind eye to the problems that would take us out of our comfort zones (physically and emotionally). How do you see the future? Do you think that we'll go extinct? How much time do you think we have left ? Would you be able to adopt a minimalist life style and give up some of the comforts you have now for the greater good ?

Yes I feel ya ... possibly the future in bad shape because of greed and no care of future , people want instant self gratification and don’t think twice of the future... but good news is people are being more aware and with the internet people can make a positive movement.

I already have, been conscious of the environment and doing what I can for years.

Just look at the changes since the lockdown. The earth is so much cleaner just in this short time. I do believe a lot of the damage can be repaired and the earth can recover quite a bit.

It is up to us all individually to hold industry responsible and also in our personal lives. It will depend on us. I think more are aware these days so hopefully it begins to be taken more seriously.

Idk, but didn't things always were bad, or even worse?.. What times were actually good?..

I really don't think that climate change is going to kill us. It may hurt us and may be a punch one day, but the more it would hurt the more attention and resources will be put on dealing with it.

I also believe that for problems like this, it's impossible to not let them happen, and until(if) it happens it's useless to do anything about it.

It's like there are people who use and motivate others to use clean water efficiently for the sake of all of us in the future... But in comparison to farmers and industries water used by individuals is none. So even if everyone in the world would cut their use for 50%, on a global scale it would be only a few % less:

Well this is one of biggest topic you can pull up
may you divide it in a specific question...

the answer could be big as a book...
If is about last few months... climate changes? covid? 5g?

Where is the truth?

this answer is for people who want to find it
Greta Thumberg travel to USA with 0 emission boat owned by people who got it from Rotshild

Still, the young lady, probably she forgot about China about the emission coming from Chinese country.

And China COVID and Whuan Laboratory...
October / November 2019 In history time the Europe facing a pork meet demand so big that has to raise price by 20% to local (european) market.

they never did such huge order in one time.

after few months we get the news of a new virus coming by a lady eating some animal soup...
we are in december , january where the flu period is the highest along all year.

China 2 billion people can manage something unknown, never seen before in a couple of months.
Rest of the world which got right precautions is not able to make it stop, Italy in primis

Actually Italy has the oldest population in the world 81 years average
the most at risk with flu, same as people effected of cancer and other pathology.

Every year flu kills thousands of people in Italy but... how is possible?????? media never mentioned it!
well.... maybe there is something they try to hide?????

Sweden did not lockdown.... is opening everythings and.... whaaaat? there is like nothing happen or much less then a country where totally lockeddown

All what written above is approved from scientist, experts, not involved in company that are sponsorized by bigpharma or political sides.
Most of them that proved, showed about vaccine effects, natural cure against cancer , and this kind of stuff, having problem against autority

I don't know how many watched the video prior to responding (BTW, I hoped people did and watched through the credits for some additional info). But, it's interesting that they bring awareness to the very complex issue of green energy. It's been shown that green energy is much more harmful than fossil fuels, yet far too many people are ignorant as fuck when it comes to it and claim that it's the evil Right wingers trying to go against the movement.

Personally, I've been saying what this movie is about for years. Probably since the mid 90's, even saying Al Gore is full of shit and only in it for the money. But, again, those on the left said I was some right wing conservative nutjob for thinking this way.

Here's the problem and how I see it:

You need big money to help fund research for new technology and ways to convert from fossil fuels to alternative energy. The problem is that you won't get investors unless there's a way for them to make money. No one is going to put money into a losing proposition.

Add to it, that we have to use current technology, including existing energy resources, to move to the next. So, there's a bit of a hit on energy resources and kind of contradictory. I think it's odd the documentary didn't call this out. Same with the fact that big oil is investing in alternative energy, they're not dumb and they see the direction it's going.

So, we're in a bit of a crux where you're kind of sleeping with the enemy so we can move forward and find a better solution.

What people don't want to hear is that we currently have one of the cleanest sources of energy we know of, but use in a limited fashion: Nuclear power plants. The downside is the waste, and what do we do with it. From an emissions standpoint, it is cleaner than any other method we have. Including wind, both from a manufacturing, longevity and visual perspective. Hydroelectric requires building a dam and flooding river basins which causes other ecological issues.

The base of the problem is not capitalism. It's consumerism. Society is always after the next best thing. How fast are new generations of phones coming out? Cars? What about larger items which were once repairable but now are cheaper to replace than repair?

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Conservation, or wise use, or resources. Remember this from when we were younger? Where are we now though? We go for cheap, easy and convenient over smarter choices. The problem is that the better solutions are not convenient, nor are they cost effective. For example, I use mason jars to store oatmeal, rice and sugar in instead of the plastic packing they come in. I live alone, so I don't need much. I'd prefer to bring my mason jars in, weigh them on entry and then weigh them at checkout paying for the difference for exactly what I need instead of guessing of over/under buying. Sure, I can go to the bulk bins, fill a plastic bag and then when I get home put it into the jars. But, then I'm left with a single use plastic bag to pitch. Yes, there's small stores that offer this capability. But, the problem is that in order for them to stay afloat the prices are cost prohibitive. As it is, I already live in a very high cost of living area, so I'm trying to find ways to keep my living expenses low. Catch 22.

Enter our current situation with COVID-19. How many small businesses are going to be shuttered because of the shutdown? The question that needs to be asked on top of that is how many of them were going to go under even without COVID? So many small businesses were barely able to stay afloat as it was, that even a bad month was almost too much of a strain on them. Some of them were pretty cool businesses. But, not viable enough to weather any kind of storm because they were such a small niche market.

I've already been in a downsizing mentality for a long time. My recent relocation is making me downsize even more. While I'm selling what I can, I donate what I can't that's still in good condition, then either recycle or throw away what I can't. But, it's also been shown that recycling and donating are almost as bad as just throwing things away because much of that gets tossed in the garbage as it is.

Here's another thought: Food waste. Many communities now are promoting food waste recycling. The problem is that it is not convenient. Especially for those of us who live in apartment complexes, so it gets pitched. Those who are able to have gardens have the best means of eliminating all but bones by burying the food waste and using it as nutrients for the gardens.

TLDR: Reduce, reuse, recycle and conservation of our resources. Even then, there's no easy solution.

How far into the future were you pondering NinjaBabe?

I can see virtual and augmented reality replacing a lot of physical activities in our lifetimes,. like attending actual schools, or shopping etc. Mainstream VR headsets are sold out worldwide right now.

This might sound a little far out, but as for the far future, obviously evolution doesn't stop, so there will eventually be a genetic leap forward from homo-sapien to a new genus incomprehensibly intelligent to us. If they are already here, we couldn't physically possess the mental capacity to acknowledge their thoughts. We would be like monkeys to them. Monkeys in their zoo.

Ignore me, I've been drinking Jack Daniels

I agree with you pretty much on everything. I've been thinking about food waste quite some time now, thinking about starting something that could help reduce the food waste here ( people are not wasting as much as americans do though) because we're only been free from comunism for 30 years and people still have a sense of not throwing away that much food but it's starting to become a bigger and bigger problem. I do believe that the main change we can all do individually is to reduce the over buying and the impulse buying and be more aware of the things we need and do not need. It's so tricky to avoid or to ask yourself ' do I really need this ?' when you're bombarded all the time with adds that literally brainwash you. I do believe that it should be classes for kids teaching them all these things because I think that once you're swept into this it's pretty hard to get out of the 'normal' and your comfort zone.
I do believe though that 2nd hand selling or swapping this would be a better way both to satisfy the NEED to purchase something new and could also put the foot on the break a little on consumerism. We've been so influenced by marketing and the society why not to think that if a thing it's not brand new is not as good or it doesn't make you feel as good as buying something new and this mentality really sucks tbh and I hope people will finally realise the things that matter.
Now about COVID and the current situation...I don't want to really dive too deep into this subject but I have a personal opinion that I don't know how many might share. That this is man made and they are testing the virus to see what the response in every part of the world would be, how many people would die from this and so on. If the suggestion that we have to halve Earth's population in order to save the planet is taken serious by the people who have the real power over governments and countries, than I think this is just a trial for a bigger thing. Just my personal opinion.

Idk.. 20-30 years. Any opinions are welcome no matter if they are fueled by Jack or not haha. I think this is one of those subjects that people really avoid talking about.
