Hitachi Wand Failures

My first wand lasted for a couple of years and it got a weak point where the wire and the base meet, and sparks actually flew and a small flame. The 2nd one I had I just got sparks. Watch for weakness in the wire... :shock:

The first one I had melted after a year. The second blew up after a year. I just replaced the third because I've had it for a year & became too paranoid to use it for longer than 5 minutes after it slightly shocked me on my index finger & it went numb for a few hours.

I can't tell if Hitachi took their name off it because they're slightly dangerous or because people use them for sex. :lol:

I ordered one despite hearing horror stories similar to these, I felt like it's still just one of those toys that eveyone needs in their closet. My Hitachi is not my favorite toy by any means (Which I think might be an unpopular opinion, but still)... I notice after a short time of use that it gets ridiculously hot to the point that I get somewhat paranoid or worried and turn it off. It's rare that I ever cum with it before it overheats and needs to be shut off, even on the 'low' speed.

Maybe I'm just crazy, have extra hot loins or lucked out with a faulty one...

Mine never smoked or shot sparks but it did get really, really hot-- to the point that it was uncomfortable to hold-- and the head started popping off!

The head of the wand unscrews and comes off, and mine started doing that by itself while in use. The first three times I was able to just screw it back together and carry on, but the last time was in the middle of a 3-girl control style pass-the-wand show and it wouldn't screw back together. We had to borrow another one to finish the show, but it did make for a hilarious intermission.

I've since replaced mine with a Lelo Smart Wand and it is MUCH higher quality.

The REAL Hitachi lasts much longer than the knock-offs that have been found on amazon. I still have my original from 4 years ago, it still works. It gets incredibly hot though, and sounds like a lawn mower. So I've moved onto bigger and better wands with more than 2 settings.

To protect yourself from a shock due to a short I would suggest buying a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter). You can get them as a strip or a single plug in outlet. Or if you already have a GFCI outlet in your home then plug into that so you are protected. The outlets are most commonly found in kitchens and bathrooms. Here is one as an example. This one would plug into a standard 120 volt outlet. Just Google GFCI and hit the shopping tab to find tons of choices and price ranges.

I did blow all the electrical fuses in a hotel room with a hitachi - had to claim to reception that the hair dryer over heated It was my own stupidity as I forgot to use a voltage converter with a US hitachi in the UK. Silly Gracie! The hitachi itself was completely blown and covered in scorch marks - good thing it wasn't near my vagina at the time.

Yes, it probably would for a short time. And then the wiring inside would get hot enough to melt/burn the insulation on the wires and possibly scorch other plastic parts. And you'd likely trip a circuit breaker or blow a fuse somewhere.

Even if I didn't cam, I'd still own one. I have a comprehensive collection of vibrators, but there is nothing, NOTHING like a Hitachi.

You should try to stay within 10% of the rated voltage. Most manufacturers have some wiggle room built in, but the closer the better. At high voltages the current goes up, and the insulation on the motor heats up to the melting point. That is where the smoke comes from. Once the varnish is compromised the windings on the motor will fail.
