Hello,

I'm in the market of getting a new laptop, I know I can easily search for best lap top, etc. But I want to know what works for you being a model and all and why? Do I need to spend big money on a high end or something simple, just for work.

My needs are just simple, used for work, no to gaming, just working camsite and maybe good for music and watching movies online.

Ok no replies, but I think I found one..reviews are great, but I wonder how good it is for models? Giving it 1 week so it wont be an impulse buy.

I would think that overall that would be great for a model. You might still need an external cam. Those are typically recommended it seems.

One of the key specs for a model is actually NOT the graphics card as you might think but the processor. The processor does the bulk of the work. That machine has an i7 processor and should be up to any task a typical model should need.

Actually, that can depend on the encoder. If using OBS, you can set it to use hardware encoding which uses the GPU for the bulk of the work. However, even then, the GPU specs aren't all that important as even a low end GPU can easily handle the encoding. Before using OBS, I couldn't reliably do 720p on my 5 year old laptop. It would hover around 90% CPU usage and would spike at 100% resulting in dropped frames. I switched to OBS and set it to use hardware encoding. I'm now doing 1080p and my CPU is only around 20%!

Definitely get an external cam. That will probably make the biggest difference, especially if you can use OBS. If using OBS, your laptop specs won't matter nearly as much (as long as you set it to use hardware encoding). I'm doing 1080p on an i5-3320m without the laptop even breaking a sweat. It's an HP EliteBook 8570p that I bought used for $150 off eBay.

Streaming on webcam is not office work in Microsoft Office, you need something powerfull. My choice is Aleinware 17 R2. Only one catch is bad screen that show colouts not in propper way. So it's impossible to do colour graiding on it.

Open Broadcaster Studio is a free, cross platform and open source streaming/recording package very popular today in schools for the production of daily video announcements. Also the cam switching/streaming software used by Jupiter Broadcasting. It's adaptable to many uses - think ManyCam with a slightly steeper learning curve and no fee/watermark.
