So I downloaded the twitter app on my phone since my laptop hasn't been working for a few days just so I could tweet
to everyone that I wouldnt be able to broadcast for a bit....when I noticed that twitter asks me if I want to add any of my facebook friends.

I've noticed that twitter sort of just synced up matches to my facebook friends without me knowing. Of course I put down "no" and I don't want to add any of my facebook friends, but still made me wonder if I would pop up for them to follow me on their twitter?

After that happened I kind of just brushed it off thinking it would be ok. Then I noticed this morning that one of my friends just join twitter and was able to follow me, she even "favorited" one of my cam pics.

So I freaked out and deactivated my twitter. Now I'm sweating bullets and wondering what to do.
I deleted the twitter app from my phone, but not sure if that stops facebook contacts from potentionally finding my twitter.
I am not ready for everyone to know my side job. Is there anything I could do to prevent my real life friends from finding my twitter? I thought about re-naming it but dont know how.

I also blocked my state on myfreecams so my friends and family are not able to find my profile and chat room. My BF told me to contact google to de-index my twitter name from there.

Any other security advice? I am freaking out.

Deactivating Twitter sounds like a good first step. I'm not a model but if I were, I'd probs have a second email account to use to sign in to anything model related. That way, you don't run the risk of friends who know your real email, finding you on Twitter. There's also an option on Twitter to be omitted from internet searches and an option to set your tweets to "private".

It's probably also worth talking to the friend who found you, and just explaining that with camming comes an extra security risk that most folk don't have to worry about, so you'd appreciate it if she didn't mention it to anyone.

All that said, if being "found out" is something that you don't feel you could face, camming might not be for you. While it's something you'd be wise to take measures to avoid, being "discovered" by someone IRL is always, always a possibility, no matter what precautions you take. Literally the only way to avoid it happening for sure, is to not cam to begin with :twocents-02cents:

Twitter is location sensitive. If you are worried about people in your area (especially friends and family) finding your twitter then make it private. If you didnt connect your twitter and facebook or have your twitter connected to your personal phone number or email address (having the app on your phone is ok) then you wont be suggested to them this way. It much more probable that they logged onto twitter and your account was "suggested" to them because of your location.

For info instagram does the same thing in terms of "local" suggestions and a facebook friend found me this way. As I didnt have any NSFW pics with my face in them I went on rant on facebook about hackers "stealing" girls images to use on fake accounts. I also deleted instagram, locked down all social media accounts and made a slight MFC name change. Combined it seemed to dispel the problem...

Yeah I think the email is the key to that.

You should create an entirely new email address just for your camming related activities and use that for everything. If you use a personal email, these programs will try to sync that email across several other platforms, and when your friends join, it searches via email address as well.

People can find you using your email or phone number if you let them.

A word of warning: SnapChat has a similar setting for finding friends by phone number. I can't recall if that is opt-out or opt-in.

I believe snapchat does default to letting people find you by phone number. (Or at least it did a year or so ago.)

One of my model friends was horrified when her cousin found her snapchat account, which she then had to promptly delete. Luckily it wasn't using the same username as her MFC or twitter accounts. (But it was a name she was considering switching to for everything, an idea which she was forced to abandon.)

Be careful.

Yeah, now that I think more about it, I seem to remember that it was enabled by default when I downloaded it earlier this year. Definitely worth double checking under the "mobile number" setting to see if it is enabled, because that could be a nasty surprise.
