Hello ladies! Im sorry that Im posting a topic that has probably been discussed on these forums quite often, but the couple of threads that I've dug up in the archives were very VERY dated. :icon-cry:

Here's my thing... Im a fairly new cam girl, I started half a year ago, went for half of a month... earned about $1000 and then got hit with depression and quit. I am back into camming now, 30 pounds lighter and camming on 2 different websites. (MFC and Naked)

I earned enough to buy a nice Macbook Pro with Retina display(I worked from a very dated PC), so I was ecstatic about it. Now here is my new dilemma: The nice Microsoft HD cam I used to use is not compatible with my new piece of technology. The modeling app I use for work on Naked.com does not recognize the internal camera on this thing, so I need help!! Particularly from ladies who are also Mac users.

What HD webcams are particularly good with Mac computers? Of course I've done my research before posting, and Logitech HD Pro c920 seems to be the standard for cam girls. Do any of you lovely ladies know if that one is compatible with Mac? Is there a better camera at this point in time?

Thank you very much ladies for taking the time out of your day to reply to this newbz :handgestures-salute:

Macbook Air user here. My webcam is the older model of the c920. I think it's a 700 something or other. It works... ish. I'm too much of a cheap bastard to buy a new one though. So hopefully someone else can chime in as to that.

One thing you can do is to partition your hard drive and install windows on it as well. Then all your software and peripherals will continue to work like a charm. With the added benefit of having all your cam girl stuff on a separate part of your hard drive so no one will accidentally stumble upon it.

There are a LOT of threads about this yes, haha.
but here's my experience:

I've invested in a C920 a while ago, it never really functioned well, I mean it worked but only when jumping through a bunch of hoops. I even email Logitech about these issues and here's what they replied to me:

Regarding the C920 purchase you made... C920's specifications clearly indicate that it is for Windows only. Please check the specifications:
http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/product/h ... 20?crid=34

so, logitech officially advices against the C920 for mac users.

I bought the C930 recently instead and it's working like a charm! Really compatible with all the software I use and also just great quality feed overall. Logitech states on it's website it's compatible with mac too, so I'd say that's the way to go.

I can highly recommend getting iGlasses too (20 dollars) and/or Camtwist (freeware) that are both specifically for mac.
I would personally advice against Manycam because I never got that to work properly, but some girls have, so it can be done, it just doesn't seem as mac-friendly as the two apps above.

Thank you so much for your feedback. :-D After you mentioned c930 I went and checked it out, and its pretty pricey... but if its worth it, I will invest. Because like any other challenge, you only get back as much as you put in, right? lol
Do you mind if I drop by your next cam session and check out your video quality?

I'm at that stage where I'm upgrading everything. I still use clip-on lamps with construction paper diffusers. Ordering new lighting alongside a new camera as well.

hehe yeah sure, feel free to drop by (I do have models blocked so perv account or guest) I don't have a good lighting set-up, or fancy lights, so it's not top notch.

I love the c930e and have written about my love for it before in other threads. I have a MAC and it works amazing. Right now its only $97 on Amazon I would 100 percent buy it you will deff make your money back. The c920 isn't compatible with MAC and honestly I think the c930e is way better. You can also look into the c910 but I hated the way it made me look.

Seconding the c930e! Everything looks so crisp and beautiful on my c930e, I love the wide angle, and the software you can download for free from the app store makes such a huge difference. Being able to actually adjust the brightness, white balance, and turn off the autofocus has been so helpful. I've definitely made my money back from the purchase and then some. It was a great investment. My skin looks amazing and creamy pale on cam, the colors are saturated and I find them to be very true to life. You have to readjust the cam every time you plug it in, because your settings in the software don't get saved (even though there's totally a button that says "save" on it, but it doesn't save shit XD) but other than that it's pretty hassle free. I just make sure to adjust my settings before hitting the broadcast button and it's all good.

The c930e and my shoot thru umbrella lights were the two best investments I've made so far.

Thank you so much for the added feedback on c930 ladies. I think Im definitely investing.

About your umbrella lights, did you get the basic $50, 3 point starting kit on Amazon? Theres a few to chose from, but they all seem almost exactly the same.

Or

...is what I'm fixing to buy with the paycheck I get next week.

Pretty sure I have the LimoStudio ones. I think they're all exactly the same though. They can be a little flimsy but for $50 the quality isn't bad. Having soft, even lighting makes such a huge difference to the quality of my feed! I love my lights.
