I've noticed a few times in models rooms (not always popular rooms), that there will be a couple of prems, and then over 1000 guests. Other members are referring to it as a 'guest bot' being used by models. I tried to find out whether or not such a bot exists, but I can't find anything. Can anyone confirm whether this actually exists?

They exist. There is no reliable evidence that they are controlled by models or studios.

So the actual name or origin of the bot is unknown? I figured it's something relatively new, I've only noticed it happening for the past few months. Hopefully some light of it can be made eventually, I feel it's a bit of a cheat tactic, to make your room seem more popular than it really is.

It doesn't help models and it's not a "cheat tactic". All it does is move them up Most Popular Rooms for a few minutes them gets them accused of being cheaters, which, on balance, is far more harmful than helpful.

I've had it happen to me when I just started, I was so overwhelmed I just sat there looking like a confused goldfish. so I can vouch it's not something which is exclusively initiated by model/studio, it weirded me out like fuck. but it did bring in A LOT of genuine traffic too, up to the point people started boo-ing me :D :(

I tried to look into what happened but couldn't find anything about it on the web.

Okay, first off let me say I am quite sure there are better scripts created for this out there. But I decided to try something with one web page that I use for other rather benign purposes.

This website, http://mfccountdown.azurewebsites.net/ keeps track of models countdowns, but only with tips tipped where the people in the room can see them. It does this by logging into MFC as a guest in that models room. So I decided I would use that page to put this to the test.

I found a model with no guests in her room and then opened up 17 tabs on my browser to that countdown site and made them all keep track of her count (made up number, doesn't matter on that part). As soon as my MFC homepage refreshed all the guests appeared in her room. Then I closed down all but 3 of the tabs and only 3 guests remained. Closed them all and no guests left.

So I'd say since there are several scripts out there to keep track of counts and help with rooms like this, I imagine many do the 'guest login' route as well. So it must be pretty easy to make a script to simply do this repeated times automatically. Just using the above website and my own automated mouse movements I could set up browsers to have a couple hundred instances of this page all running with whatever model I wanted in minutes. So it can be done by anyone, does not have to have anything to do with the model.

And no, I'm not saying I will. I just was curious how it could be being done.

You'll notice there are actually 18 and 4 tabs in these pics. One of them is for MFC itself.

stuff about mfccountdown and room counts
I understand you were just doing it for demonstration purposes, but I don't think anyone is using MFCCountdown in the fashion you're describing (or it would show up in my usage statistics), but you're right that they could potentially do it. It's also correct that with a little understanding of MFC's chat protocol, it wouldn't be difficult to write something that generated hundreds of guest bots.

Oh i doubt anyone is using this page for that too. It's too intensive just to do a few extra guests this way. Like i said i was just curious if it 'could' be done with it as a way of confirming that any one there could be manipulating the count. If I can find one way that wasn't even intended for this purpose then yeah there's sure to be other's out there who have made scripts to do it.

Easy to stop, Mfc will just stop counting guests as room traffic in the popular rooms.

You could of course also use some sort of tabs addon and proxify each tab so they have a different i.p. I recall another camsite having an hourly contest based on room traffic with a $ prize, ;) they seemed to have stopped it for some reason

CB still have this contest but it is based on registered users.

I've seen bots on Chaturbate spamming urls to fake token generator software.
