Get A Long Little Doggie
Or two
Oscar is the big old guy with cataracts
Oscar has ran in two doxie derbies at Golden Gate Fields. He trained well before each race. Running full out from me, to my buddy Jim (with a pocket full of treats) on the home course we set up for him. Once at the track, he broke well out of the gate, reversed his field and trotted back to me both times. I don't think he liked having to share the track with horses. About 8 seconds into the video you can see a frustrated Jim in black waving his arms in a futile attempt to call Oscar toward the finish line.
Oscar did win a very cool piece of art though. Offered as a raffle prize by the local SPCA, we won with one ticket. (proof that's all it takes)
Frankie is the other long little doggie. She is special. Special in the short bus sort of way special. She is so very sweet though. Constantly in trouble, when ever she hears the "WTF have you done now" tone of voice, she flops over on her back and paws frantically at the air with her front paws. It is ridiculously funny and cute, I fail to stay mad at her.
dachshunds seem to have a problem with spatial perception. when paper training Oscar, about half the time he would leave his work 2or3 inches off the back side of the parer. We thought he did not know where he ended. This was confirmed later when he got in trouble with momma, and hearing her voice from the next room, got up and ran past me and in to the corner of the room. There were boxes stacked against the wall, and he had found a gap big enough for him to head in head first. The problem was the last 6 inches of his ass was hanging out, but he remained perfectly still thinking he was hidden as we had a good laugh. Well Frankie has the same problem, but it is the length of her tongue that eludes her.
Frankie also bounces as if she is part ferret. I tried to get a video of this goof ball hopping she does, but because of the poor cam work and the tall grass it is not so obviously funny as it is in RL. Also I would have had to work to get music that was less a match, but I grabbed the first instrumental I could find on the computer. I was not yet ready to let every one hear me cheering Frankie on in excited baby talk.
Hope you enjoyed. These little rascals are bunches of fun and full of personality. Not exactly real dogs, but not one of those fashionable tea cup jobbies ether. And great pets. So, Get A Long Little Doggie.
