When I started camming I was scammed.

Basically I was running a Highest Tip = 10min Skype in my room. So that all happened, very exciting, and it was a great token night. I got the dude's Skype to add him via MFC PM. I log off MFC and into Skype and see that he had already added me. Did the Skype. Then I realise that the person who added me, and who I did the show with wasn't the high tipper. It was a total scamming Basic who had been watching the whole night, the whole exchange. He quickly made a Skype account with my high tippers user name, found me on Skype and added. The usernames were the same, except for a _ at the end of the scammer's. He did a good job of guessing, but it really isn't rocket surgery to know most guys are going to have the same user name for MFC and their sexy Skype account.

I felt like such an idiot! But it was a pretty good scam. I gave the scammer a huge piece of my mind and we got in to a bit of back and forth. He said he had fooled many many models the same way.

Some things could have prevented this.
1) *I* should have added the High Tipper to Skype. I should not have accepted the request. I implemented this as standard practice straight after I was burnt.
2) I could have paid closer attention to verifying the skype user name (not Nickname) was the same as what my HT gave me.

That's awful. He scammed you and the high tipper.

What an asshole. I'm so sorry that happened to you! I would have felt so used, but I'm glad you're rallying and I hope camming goes extra amazing for you now!

I've never been scammed super bad but literally my first night camming on MFC a guy tried to do that whole "copy and paste what it looks like when you tip a model so that she thinks I tipped her, yay free flash/cumshow/whatever!" I fell for it to but a couple of the MFC guys pointed it out to me which was so nice of them. Super rude of the fake tipper tho and I banned that mofo so fast. Sometimes now I get all suspicious of tips haha, but hey it serves me well cus I don't fall for it even for a second now :finger:

I know this thread's been dead for a while, but I'm so glad I found it (and SO sorry you had to go through that!). Pretty sure I just got smacked with my first scammer tonight, just a week into camming. He was very hasty about wanting to do the Skype thing ASAP, and claimed because he was from the UK and currency conversions, etc., it would take up to 24 hours to apply to my account. Now that it's done and over with, I'm smacking myself upside the head for believing the moron! Somehow, he managed to get my real name as well, which he didn't mention until after the fact.

Re: Guys getting your real name. This tends to happen sometimes without models realizing it, and then it's like "OH, SHIT!" Is it possible that you had your real name displayed on Skype? I'm not talking about your Skype username that you use to log in. I'm talking about the Skype nickname that's displayed once you've actually logged in. For example: A model may have the username 'SexyLady', but her Skype name displayed as 'Anna'. Make sure your cam girl Skype account has a display name different from your real name. Same thing with PayPal accounts (though models really shouldn't be using PayPal for adult transactions anyway) and e-mail addresses. Sometimes models may not even realize that their Skype/PayPal/e-mail account has their real name attached to it, and it totally slips their mind to edit that information before sending that MFC member an e-mail. Then the next thing you know, he e-mails you "So your name is ___? That's pretty." That's why it's good to have a different e-mail account completely separate from your personal e-mail account. Have an e-mail account for your In-Real-Life stuff (e-mails to Mom and Dad, etc.), and a separate e-mail account for the cam girl stuff (with your display name not being your real name). Have a Skype account for your cam girl stuff, and a separate Skype account for those video calls with a family member.

Hi. I'm new here and looking for help.

I'm concerned a member at myfreecams may be trying to scam a model friend who is relatively new. He contacted her claiming to be an original member of mfc who knows many "secrets" that will help her raise her camscore and make lots of money, etc. He wants her to either give him money to buy tokens he would tip in her room, or buy the tokens herself and transfer them to him (I'm not sure which it was).

As proof of his bona fides and effectiveness he had her join him in the room of another model he is helping. He tipped generous amounts which, male psychology being rather obvious, prompted other guys to try to match or outdo his tips. Of course guys tipping to impress a girl they like is nothing new. It already happens in her room. But this member wants her to pay him 10% of her earnings for his help. He also could have multiple accounts and been doing the ever-higher tipping himself to fool her. Or have confederates. I'm afraid after several sessions of her getting excellent tips with his "help", he will con her out of a lot of money to buy more tokens, then disappear with it.

I'm afraid my friend, who is kind and trusting, may be willing to risk giving this guy some money and be taken advantage of. Have other models been approached by members with a similar scheme/scam?

I would appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

Yup. Tell her if she really wants to tip herself (which is all this would be since she's buying the tokens) she can get herself a premium account and tip herself that way and not give an additional 10% to some liar who could easily take her tokens and run. She needs to report him to MFC for this scam he's trying to pull.

thats aweful so sory you had to go through that ther are some pretty nice guys on mfc but always protect yourself

Don't feel bad about if. Every newbie gets scammed in one way or another.
I got scammed out of approximately £1300 in my first year. Skype PayPal transactions, Amazon gift cards and kik bitcoin bullshit. Newbies are popular in there first weeks for that reason, scammers know they're gullible. But so long as you remember never to give out your personal information about your actual indentity, at least you can come away from it relatively unscaved. If any of the scammers come back to you asking for another email address to send it to, they are phishing for your personal info online to blackmail you. I had a guy who had failed to pay me my Amazon gift card after sending me screenshots of the transaction being processed to my email account. I was with him for about an hour and I got nothing for it. I complained to him about it and he claimed it was a currency conversion thing and he needed another email. I gave him my personal email and he said he'd get back to me. Three days later he blackmailed me saying he knew my real name, my address, my uni and my phone number and he'd tell all my family and friends about my online activities if I didn't send him nude pics. I laughed and told him that all my friends and family already knew what I did. So I sent my friends and family his email address and the sent him DICK pics and granny porn for almost a month.
It sucks being scammed, but you can learn from it, just make sure you don't fall for the identity phisers and you'll stay safe

I feel like threads like this are such a double edged sword. On one hand, they're really helpful for new models and give them a heads up of what to look for. On the other hand, anyone on the internet can see this thread and a potential scammer could be given new ideas and methods. People can be so sick sometimes :/

For the most part it's the same guys trying the same stuff to different models (mostly new models) using different names. I don't think I've seen anything new in this thread that isn't public knowledge as to how it works. I think it's far better that you're aware of everything that can be thrown at you.

Im so glad all you girls understand. Ive been camming on mfc for about 10 months off and on and decided to try out chaturbate and a member told me that i had to set a password for a private session to start and long stort short it was no true and i did an entire like 20 minute private for free. I was so upset i havent been back on since and that was like 2 weeks ago. I felt so taken advantage of and just embarrassed i let myself get scammed. You guys make me feel more encouraged to know its happened to tons of you guys. Thank you! :/

Scammers tend to be really creative (in my experience). Doubt this thread would be much help to them.

I'm sorry this happenend to you!

From my experience it can be tough weeding out who is legit and who is going to take advantage of you. Only some of these guys are pricks and liars. Don't give up lady!!!!

Hey there! I am new to this forum, but I have been a cam model on MFC for about 2 years. And I decided to google the MFC name (and the email he emailed me with). And Arkham_Harley's post popped up. I want to put it out there that smiller460 (or whatever his name is) did this AGAIN last night. He was being super impatient and shit in my chat room and I gave him my cam email - since he asked to email about a possible Skype show. I received the email and it was detailed about his fetishes and what 90 dollars would get for a Skype show. I want to let it be known that I have a retail job along with my camming job. So, I typically have to schedule Skype shows at least a day or two in advanced (retail is a crazy career). He became very very aggressive in the emails as well and decided that berating me would be the best course of action to get me on Skype with him. I reminded him that he would be paying for my time.

I want to give ladies on cam sites a heads up.
His email he used was: ssmiller460@gmail.com

It seems scammers jumps straight on the newbies.

I logged once to test my software, and a guy started telling me he would buy me "that and that and that" but it would be "easier" to share my skype for that purpose.

I told him I was busy setting up things on my account and that I had no time to chat with him. He started being very annoying, insisting.

I'm not extremely nice and patient when people aren't taking me seriously, so I told him to get lost...Kinda.

As a long time MFC member I'm glad to see this thread resurrected. Seems the camgirl numbers are expanding exponentially on several sites. It pisses me off when I see noobs being accosted by these guys. So many girls are so trusting and overwhelmed the first few days that they seldom know what to believe, despite the tipnote advice being to not trust someone trying to run one of the usual scams.
New girls, like in real life, you cant trust someone over night or after a few days. Time will eventually show you more reliable evidence as to whom they are character wise. If they are aggressive at all, red flag them.

Sad it looks like the OP was done in by her scam hit. I looked for Arkams profile and tw and last activity was a couple days later. :(

A guy tried to get me to do this for him on CB as well; he was very pushy and insistent. He claimed he'd paid me elsewhere, but refused to say where or how, just "your email has a giftcard" and I was thinking...that's odd, my email isn't on this site. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about, or how to set a password, and that if he couldn't wait then he could find someone else to talk to, because I needed to learn the site better. After about 15 minutes of "bb just do it like this", "darling you need to blah blah blah" (with me ignoring him) he went away. I haven't gone back to CB since, but that's mainly because they don't have the payment option I prefer; still, not a great first experience. I'm sorry you got scammed by that type :(

All scam artists and trolls should be put in a room full of rabid wolverines.

That would be too much of a reward. :hilarious: Dragged through a flaming field of thumbtacks and Legos while being dined upon by pacu fish (look that one up. HUMAN TEETH.) seems pretty worthy, too. Taylorrmae, how was your first night back?

The golden rule is to never perform/send content without payment first. And in the case of gift cards and off-site payments, sometimes that means waiting a while and/or redeeming gift cards immediately before the show/content is sent. But it's worth it to stick to this rule unless you are 100% comfortable with the person after knowing them on the cam site for a while and knowing they're good peeps.

I'm going to sticky this thread for a while. I'd love for other cam girls to chime in with common scams that have happened to them and ones to look out for so that we can spread the word (without having a "blacklist" of names, because that does no good other than cause drama) to newcomers on how to avoid being scammed. :)

What are your experiences? Feel free to be vague with personal details, just enough info to share knowledge and prevent others from falling victim.

Hi there, I wanted to share some of my experiences with being scammed.
Something Amazon-related: this dude first started by sending me niteflirt payments for nails pictures. He sent a total of $50 for 10 photos to get my trust, then he proposed to use amazon as payment. He forwarded the emails of the orders he placed for me, then he cancelled. That was like 10 years ago, I was totally clueless about amazon and he fooled me into sending some 20-30 photos and chatting to him for 2h on yahoo. Later I found out he did the same to other fetish models.
Even earlier than the amazon scam, I got scammed by a dude who made a niteflirt account for me. He had lured me into thinking he was a good guy, even sent me a couple hundred bucks on WU, then he suggested it would be easier if he cashes in my niteflirt money and sends it via WU. I made $1000 in the first month on niteflirt and I never saw any of it. I never saw the guy again on yahoo either.
The morale: don't trust external payments. Relying on established sites to be paid for camming/phone/texting is the best way to go. Easy money sometimes comes with a huge price.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

I got scammed by the EXACT same email/guy!!! and for the same amount, it was over skype when I first started camming about February 2015 I believe for aroumd $300 in amazon "debit cards" it ruined me, I actually stopped camming until august 2015. youre not alone :h:

Also, watch out for guys that send screenshots of gift card "receipts". I had a member claim to send me a $100 amazon giftcard. I told him it wasn't anywhere in my inbox, so he showed me a receipt. I told him if he actually bought it, it would have shown up in my inbox. He got really mad and defensive claiming he didn't know how to make fake screenshots and I was just trying to steal his money. He said he sent another one again because "he just had to see me". Still nothing in my inbox. I refused to do the show with him and told him if he was so concerned, he should contact his bank or amazon support to get the "money" back.
I don't know why guys waste so much time trying to get free shows. There's a whole sea of free porn on the internet if you're broke.

Newbie here. I fell victim to a pretty bad scam last night. The guy sent me amazon prepaid debit giftcards that were totally fake, but the email looked friggin legit. I didn't apply it to my account right away and should have. I got a fake $240 from this guy and was on google hangouts with him for 2 hours.
Honestly I just don't know how to feel right now. I thought I was being smart, not giving into empty requests and using my brain, but this hoax was pretty damn good. How can these people honestly sleep at night?
The email he used was:
boobzilla23@gmail.com
and his mfc name is:
smiller460 (but it looks like he already got rid of the profile)

Live and learn I suppose, but I don't even want to cam anymore honestly.

I've had this exact same person try to scam me. He tried the exact same thing too except I noticed that the apply to account button wasn't on the amazon email. When I said this to him he said oh I'll have to talk to them about that and high tailed it out of my room.
