Oh no, this malaise has been apparent with me since the start of season 3. I dont think ill continue on after the end of season 3 as I (personally) found this season to be long, drawn out and largely annoying. But this is my (wildly unpopular) opinion.

Oh it has been a nothing season. No big fights or great upheavals, mostly just Jon, Bran and Jamie wandering about with their respective girlfriends, it is more a comment on how bad the rest of television is that I will keep watching it irrespective of how it ends up.

The final episode was something of an anti-climax but given what happened in the previous episode, that was kind of to be expected. The show seems to have fallen into a pattern now, with the first episode (re)establishing where the characters are and what they're doing; episodes two through eight building towards the season's "big moment"; episode nine containing said "big moment" and the final episode being used as a "cool-down" episode before concluding with a minor cliffhanger. It's worked for three seasons but I wouldn't mind seeing something different next year.

I'm not a Tywin fan (I do begrudgingly admire his code of ethics, such as it is) but watching him put Joffrey firmly in his place is consistently wonderful.
The Theon torture scenes are getting hard to watch.
The Hound/Arya relationship is starting to remind me of the Terminator/John Conor relationship in T2 - the young child being forced into a situation they shouldn't be old enough to cope with and being escorted by a killing machine who, thanks to said child, starts to learn empathy and understanding. I don't know if that's a good thing. It feels a little cliche in 2013.
Tyrion FTW.

Ayra is my favorite character from the books, and she is not a big sissy like The Hound. In one or two seasons her arc should start getting much better.

I don't know what you think about it but i felt like the Jaime part of this episode is so frustrating (for those who read the book), like he arrives and directly go to his sister and that's all. I also found a little strange that Sam just find a way to cross the wall very quickly and is like ok for Bran going to the North. I liked the talk between Gendry and Davos and all the Hound (my favourite character) being more human. Knowing what happened according to the book made me smile at each horrible scene, i already got the thrill when reading them. Anyway, for thoses who like Game of Thrones: go check https://www.youtube.com/user/comicbookgirl19 she made videos about each houses

Love this show. Going to be a long wait for season 4. I'm almost caught up in the books, ugh. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself then.

I really don't mind how slow things seemed to have gone this season, it sets things up for future seasons with a bigger pay off. Why must every episode be some mind blowing over the top can you believe what just happened!? experience? You'll run out of characters even quicker that way and not to mention you make every episode like that and suddenly you blow your load and have nothing to offer and then presto you're off tv.

The beauty of being a tv show instead of a movie is you can take your time and set things up that don't need to come to fruition right away. Now you want to talk about slow though, the walking dead would accomplish something in 3 weeks that Game of Thrones would get done in an episode.

Finally! I'm caught up and can read this thread! I watched the first two seasons on my own, and then right around the beginning of season 3 I discovered my roommate had never watched the show, and his girlfriend had only seen the first season. So, before I could start in on Season 3, I had to catch them up. It was fun watching the first two seasons again with people who hadn't seen it before, but it was real frustrating being behind on Season 3 as PEOPLE KEPT TRYING TO SPOIL SHIT

My best friend should thank me. I was looking up the story behind the Lannister song to understand it's history more back in season 2, and because the internet is dark and full of spoilers I found out of the Red Wedding a full season before it and what was to happen. I was so angry about a lot of things, more at myself for you know- trying to learn.

But I never once told him and I got to see his reaction once the Lannister song began to play. He only recognized the song from the times he's heard it play when I'm driving, and to see him go from confusion, to fear, to sadness, to anger. This made not spoiling shit for him so worth it. I wish I could have been as surprised too.

Pretty big casting news

Red Viper cast! - WinterIsComing.net

I was wondering if they'd even include the Dorne storyline at all, but I guess this confirms it. The actor definitely isnt how I pictured Oberyn, but I trust in the showrunners. I cant wait to see how this all plays out on the show. After they were introduced, Oberyn, Arianne, and the other Martells became some of my favorite characters in the series.

I couldn't see them going forward without the Dorne part. It ties in with the Lannisters through Myrcella (You guys remember Tyrion sending her there, right?) and will have another important tie in going forward (though I'll say no more). My only question was whether or not they would bring in the Dornish elements for the upcoming royal wedding as in the book or tie them in somehow later similar to how they brought the Reeds in later. The fact that Season 4 will contain the royal wedding seems to indicate they will be introduced there since they'll have already cast and hired the actors for the rest of the Dornish storyline anyhow. Not to mention Oberyn's own important role which would require a bit of a change of story if omitted.

As for Oberyn himself, let's see what the GoT wardrobe and make-up team do with him. Pedro Pascal has some features that are what I would expect of a man from Dorne. I'm sure they will perform a pretty good transformation that will bring him close to what you'd expect based on the book's description.

I'm looking forward to (hopefully) seeing the Water Gardens in Dorne. They sound beautiful. :)

This is a picture of what the iron throne should look like, much better in my opinion than what HBO made. Link

Am i the only one who feels like they ended this past season wrong, i like the way they ended it but i feel like there is something much more important that they should have addressed before the next season started.
