FAU Student Snaps On Teacher!
A Florida Atlantic University student was caught on video threatening to kill her professor and several classmates.
The incident was captured by several students in class on their iphones and already the video has gone viral. The outburst so violent, the student had to be removed from class by two FAU employees.
The violent outburst occurred in the middle of an evolution class at FAU in Boca Raton. An outburst students say starts while Professor Steven Kajiura is reviewing for a midterm.
"They were talking about natural selection. They were talking about peacocks and how females choose their mates by their most feathers and the woman started asking about how that killed all black people," said one FAU student.
Students say that's when the girl snaps, ranting and threatening to kill Professor Kaijura and several of her classmates.
"You better shut up before I kill you," the student yelled to her professor on the video.
"It just seemed like it came out of nowhere."
Several students whip out their iphones to capture the outburst on video. As the situation escalates, others leave the classroom to call police.
Seconds later, the girl walks past a row of students screaming and yelling, then smacks a a male student in the head.
Shortly after, two FAU employees walk into class to try to restrain the student, but as seen in the video, she goes after them as well.
Right now, the student's name is not being released. She was taken to a local hospital and Baker Acted. According to FAU they are doing everything they can to make sure students have a safe environment.

:lol: this both amuses and saddens me - it's like this is the default reaction to anyone in distress or having some kind of mental breakdown. It's only a matter of time before some rubberneckers pull out their iphones to record something and get mown down in the crossfire.

I can't actually understand a lot of what she's saying but it seems a bit inappropriate that as she's manhandled out her classmates are laughing and smiling - like she's obviously got some sort of mental issue.

I can't actually understand a lot of what she's saying but it seems a bit inappropriate that as she's manhandled out her classmates are laughing and smiling - like she's obviously got some sort of mental issue.

If I'd been there, I'd have thought she was crazy based on what I saw. You yourself seem to have trouble following her train of thought when it comes to what made her snap. There was likely a catalyst to all of this and I have no doubt that she was a sane, rational person a majority of the time... but during this video she is not. As for the guy she hit, if it'd been me she'd have been restrained right then with security on the way to get her out of the classroom. Mirra don't play that.

Wow... Apparently she has some 'issues' regarding black Vs white in her mind. She singled out the 2 gringo guys sitting in the row behind her like they are at the root of her problem. Seems racism is indeed alive and present in FAU.
I'm actually surprised she didn't get a faceplant from the security when she went after them.

As to the laughing ... yes, troubling to say the least. Makes me wonder what those laughing and carrying on would do if somebody busted a few caps their direction....

A lot of people don't know how to deal with nervousness and discomfort so they laugh instead. I recall in high school, most of my friends got hit by their parents. A pretty common reaction was to laugh, because perhaps the only other alternative they see is to show weakness. I have no doubt that some of the students probably found the incident to be genuinely funny, but that is not necessarily the case for all of them.

Given the laughter is after she's out of there, I don't agree with the thought it's people laughing at her. More the bizarre circumstance they just found themselves watching. A very much a "WTF?" reaction. Literally, where the hell did that come from and did that really just happen? What the hell?

No one was shouting her down, no one was attacking her, no one was calling her a freak or jeering whilst she ranted on. If that had happened, then I would be inclined to agree that hte class were ... hmm, not sure what to say Honestly, the rest of the class were well behaved though given the circumstance.

As for whipping the video out - documenting things is important. Furthermore, are you all saying you have never said to a friend "You wouldn't believe what I saw/heard...". It is sad when they video something where they can make a difference by intervening, but instead just record. As it was, I think they were right not to try to intervene. Some left calmly to remove themselves from the immediate surroundings - but what would you have had them all do? Run out screaming? Pile on her like a rugby scrum? Attack her? Argue with her? Everyone leave and leave the lecturer alone with her? What happens if she follows them all out instead?

Videoing it is about all they could do, and remain as observers / potential intervener's had things got a lot worse. I honestly see nothing wrong with what the other students did.

I think videoing it for proof for later was appropriate given the fact that they have proof of her behavior for later. The video is somewhat comical though I do hope she gets some kind of help. I'm mostly curious about what set her off.
