Exxxotica in Edison, NJ - Hotels?

I'm just gonna fast-forward over my long-winded explanation of why I am posting this because, if you guys know me you know this, my posts tend to be a bit lengthy.

Basically, I have been planning on attending Exxxotica in Edison, NJ on the 7-9 of this month and working the CB booth but my plans for accommodations have unexpectedly fallen through. I was wondering if anyone has attended the event or knows the area and could recommend an affordable, decent hotel in the area to stay at within a reasonable driving distance to the event. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is me NOT knowing the area. :lol:
But if it helps this is the link to google maps centered on the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center with a general search highlighting all the hotels. If you hover over each of the hotels it will tell you the base price for them. That's generally their lowest price, so Friday, Saturday and Sunday would be more. But it's a good quick place to start. Be sure to zoom in and move it around a bit to see more listings.

One thing I would suggest, if you don't already do this, don't go with sites like Expedia or Hotels.com if you can. Google the name of the hotel and go to their corporate website. Find the location of the hotel from there and then see what they have for prices. Those bigger sites that find 'the best deals' for you are almost always more expensive and a worst deal. They charge a fee in addition to the best price from the hotel, plus their cancellation rules SUCK compared to most places directly. So it's definitely worth it to spend a few minutes googling the hotels directly.


Just quickly a couple of the cheaper ones i saw were Days Inn and Knights Inn South Amboy

Days Inn site plugging in 4 nights (6th for check in and 10th for check out) and 2 adults - 1 room. That gives $67.50 a night or $310.50 total.

They give a better rate of $52 a night for $239.20 total, and it looks like they have more options and availability.


Also keep in mind with the Days Inn or any of them over on the west side you may have to be paying to get on the Turnpike every time to get back and forth.

And obviously I know nothing about the quality of any of them other than what's shown on their website. So take all that under consideration.

I'm not going this year but I've been before. The Days Inn is okay, fairly inexpensive and pretty close Sheraton isn't terrible either. The big annoyance is taxi fare. The drivers in Jersey are a little rough around the edges and it's best not to watch the road too carefully while they're driving unless you have nerves of steel. You're going to be looking at around $40 to $60 a day in cab fare, easy but if there are other models staying at the Inn you might look into sharing cabs.

Thanks for the heads up on those hotels. Fortunately, I will be driving to and from the event in my own car so the cab stuff shouldn't be an issue as long as I can secure parking. As for the Jersey drivers, I grew up in South Jersey and have spent substantial time driving in Boston, Jersey and D.C., I know how crazy they drive, I'll survive.


@JerryBoBerry- Thank you very much for all the information, I will look into it. I am just checking on quality via first-hand experience based on some really horrible experiences at Days and Holiday Inns in the past where it was kind of a desperation move, the place had decent online ratings and I ended up in rooms that were very likely crime scenes at some point.

I stayed at Crowne Plaza it was pretty nice and fairly cheap. I will be there but I live in NJ and I am just making a day trip
