Hello,

I'm a writer for Cracked.com, and I'm working on a personal experiences piece about cam girls. So far, everyone I've spoken to is either American or Australian, but one of them made an interesting point I'd really like to follow up on. She said webcamming is a really great thing for women in developing nations, especially for those who might turn to more exploitive sexual industries if they didn't have camming. Here's a CNBC article I found about it: http://www.cnbc.com/2015/01/21/porns-new-capitals-romania-and-colombia.html.

So I was wondering if any of the women here are from a developing country and would like to be interviewed?

Thanks for your time!

Hey ACFers, I personally invited @Anna to come here to help with their search. Just vouching that this is a legit inquiry. :)

I feel like yelling in my best Admiral Ackbar voice "IT'S TRAP"! Come on, this is Cracked. I grew up with the magazine. The magazine who out-grossed Mad Magazine. The online mag is not much different (thank God).

So, if I may ask, what's the angle? How will Cracked.com justify being sympathetic or friendly? Or is this just going to be another mockumentary style article that will make fun of (and possibly humiliate) some girls who are just trying to make an honest buck?

Color me skeptical...

As I said earlier, I've spoken with both Anna and with Evan Symon myself. It will be a write up in the Personal Experiences section of the site, and according to Evan will be a "personal account of an interesting experience, as well as give insight into what the challenges and difficulties are in being a cam girl".

In recent years, many of their articles have shifted a bit more toward actual journalism than what you may recall the magazine and site being about. And not long ago, our very own @VeronicaChaos was featured with an article about her niche as a cam girl.

I'm hoping that Anna can find what she's looking for here so we can get the ball rolling on the article.

Also anyone can write for Cracked once you get your article/concept approved. It's not like they have hidden agendas... the site keeps their themes and edits or gives direction on topics chosen but it's mostly independent writers.

I suppose I should weigh in on this! I had a really lovely experience working with Cracked.com and I don't feel they painted me in a bad light or anything. Aside from cringing when I read it now because I've changed so much as a person haha. And the readers were super sweet as well!

Cracked is not exploitive in their articles about sex workers. There's been several and they've done a great job of being respectful of the industry.
