I has no input from the model end of things but as a member, I like it. It makes things feel more official somehow. Before, I suspect for many members it was kinda like (and for many, I guess it still is) "right, model does show once she's finished updating that number in her topic. Fine, I'll wait" whereas now it's more like "right, whenever someone tips, that number automatically goes down, and when it reaches zero, it's pussy tiiiiime. If I tip, it'll go down even quicker!". Even though nothing's really changed, and it's ultimately all illusory, it just somehow feels more legitimate (that's probably not the right word to use as it implies things weren't on the up and up before when I'm sure they were but it's as if it's MFC, the multi-million dollar company, letting members know when the show starts and how to make it start quicker now, and not a random boob lady on the internet who the member might be meeting for the first time... even though it's still random boob lady pulling the strings. It just feels different, ya know?)

That is exactly what I like about it! Makes it easier to keep everyone excited and focused on the goal! Plus, I suck at updating it because I get all jumpy and talky when people are tipping! This helps a lot!

Re: Countdowns

somehow one of my models set a countdown, but it doesn't post after each tip.

it does update the topic (cause I told her about @remain)

not sure what she did wrong since I haven't seen the GUI (the graphical interface) and she's not really listening to my instructions on how to do it via command line
Or perhaps mfc changed something

any ideas?

They moved it. It's on the top by the topic and guest/basic mute buttons.

It also doesn't spam the room with count updates after each tip anymore.

The wiki has been updated again there is quite a lot of news stuff
http://wiki.myfreecams.com/wiki/Countdowns

A countdown is a way for a model to automatically track how many tokens she has been tipped by her chat room.

What Counts for a CountdownBy default, only Tips shown to the chat room count toward the countdown, even anonymous tips.

Tips that are hidden from the chat room, and only shown to the model, do not count toward the countdown.

Topic Variables When a countdown is active, the model can use certain variables in her topic to make her topic update dynamically.

@total : The number of tokens total for this countdown.
@sofar : The number of tokens earned so far in this countdown.
@remain : The number of tokens left in the countdown.
For example, if the model sets her topic as "@total countdown, @sofar earned, @remain left until show!", then it could show up as: "1000 countdown, 200 earned, 800 left until the show!"

/countdownUsage: /countdown [total] [remaining (optional)]
Usage: /c [total] [remaining (optional)]
Example: /c 1000 : This would start a new countdown from 1000 tokens.
Example: /c 1000 200 : This would start a countdown from 1000 tokens that only had 200 tokens remaining to finish (800 tokens already earned).
Usage: /c [+/-adjustment]
Example: /c +100 : This adds 100 tokens to the countdown, so if countdown was at 1000 before, now it will be at 1100.
Example: /c -100 : This removes 100 tokens from the countdown, as if someone just tipped you 100 tokens.
Usage: /c none : Removes any active countdown.
Usage: /c resume : Resumes a countdown that was interrupted due to a short term disconnection.

/helperUsage: /rh [username]
Usage: /helper [username]
Example: /rh Bob123 : This would set member Bob123 as your Room Helper.
Usage: /rh show : Tells the model the current room helper.
Usage: /rh none : Removes any active room helper.
There can only be one Room Helper at a time, and making someone new a Room Helper will automatically remove it from the previous user.

Room Helpers automatically reset when you log off. They are intentionally temporary.

Room Helpers are able to set your Room Topic, Ban Users from your room, and Mute Guests/Basics. See the Room Helper page for more info.
Thx for all this... interesting.

@sofar : The number of tokens earned so far in this countdown.
This is so handy, allows a count up to some mini target to be posted in a topic.

Re: Countdowns

Did they make this similar to "Gold Shows" on Streamate?
On their site, if you don't reach your goal and DONT do the show, all gold goes back to members who chipped in.
On MFC, if the members don't finish the countdown, the model still gets any tips earned show or no show.

I like half of each concept.

SM: you lose the gold if you don't do the show. But if you do the show only members who contributed get to watch (they earned it but non tippers get booted)

MFC: you keep all tokens if you don't reach it (as of before, now confused if you keep/lose them if you decide no show) if you make it and do the show, everyone even those who didn't help, get to watch.

There are pros and cons to both. I just want to know what the end result will be for MFC, as of now the wiki page for Countdowns doesn't mention losing tips if the shows countdown isn't reached.

Nope, it's not similar to Streamate - any tips that were part of the countdown are kept by the model regardless of the countdown result.

Yes I did, apparently the countdown did not work for all tips shown in chat. I even saw AdminLeo in a couple of rooms tipping with "test" as a message

That would be NUTS!

MFC isn't changing the way their site works, they're just giving models a handy tool for countdowns which are a really common thing on the site. It's pretty much just helping us with math and stuff, which is totally great!

Don't get me wrong, I think Gold Shows are an awesome idea, but this would be a much bigger deal to everyone if they were adding something like that!

Re: Countdowns

I'm kinda bummed the little automatic countdown update went away. :( I really liked that, felt like it did a good job of keeping things rolling and focused while letting us just do our thang. I hope it might come back.

I did also notice the little COUNTDOWN COMPLETED in yellow on the model side went away. Not a huge deal obviously (but I won't lie I loved it! made me feel all giddy!)

Nooooooo!! I thought having that actually helped countdowns move faster, gave guys sort of an end goal. :( (Which, yeah there's always been an end goal but this felt more... official!)

Exactabloodyexactly. It was one of those things for which I could only see positives. Seems really strange to get rid of it.

Yes, especially since it's only an option anyway. I'm hoping they only removed it to work out some bugs.

It still automatically updates the number in the topic as long as you use the @remain but you have to manually post the topic if you want it to update inside the chat instead of just on the top of the screen. The little black "xxxx tokens remain in countdown" was gone last night. I'm really hoping it comes back.

Yeah, I was so sad when I saw those changes last night! Auto update in chat seemed pretty cool. I also kind of loved the big giant countdown that we got to see in the upper right corner and of course the big "Countdown Completed!" message felt so awesome and victorious.

I'm hoping they bring those things back!

Re: Countdowns

As a perv, hearing about the changes to the interface on the model end makes me curious if any models had screenshots from of how the interface changed from PRE-auto-countdowns, to the rollout of them, to the current (apparently less exciting) layout.
But I'm weird because I think the design of GUIs is interesting.

Re: Countdowns

I used this for the first time last night. I set my usual (and usually achieved) countdown. I had 10 tokens towards it. My worst night ever! All the rest of my tips were ninja with notes "not for countdown"

I have no idea if it was just that sort of night or if the countdown gizmo was the cause...I'm pretty certain it's not the latter but it did strike me as ironic.

I think I should take the blame for this if all those guys/girls read my reply from yesterday in the MFC helper thread :woops:

Making Tips NOT count toward a Countdown
#nocount : If a member writes "nocount" somewhere in his tip notes, then the tip will NOT count toward the countdown.

INB4 #NoCunt jokes

is that for visible tips or ninja will start couting towards countdown?

Re: Countdowns

I havent seen an auto-counter in any model rooms for the past 3 days. Has it been discontinued?

It still works but only if she puts @remain in the topic. Sadly it no longer pops up when people tip. (I'm bitter about it. :crybaby: )

Are you sure they were bots and not just helpful members? I have had lots of members help me keep up with countdowns and post text in chat for me while my hands are...otherwise occupied. I also know some models have members who run scripts on their end to keep up with countdowns but I don't think I've met any models yet who run their own countdown programs.

I have a friend who created a countdown counter for me two months ago, which can calculate multiple countdowns at once* (ex. "132 til bra off, 678 til naked!"), but I still had to input the amounts tipped. The counter would then spit out an updated room topic for me that I had to copy and paste into the room topic box. It was a little bit of a hassle, but it was great for when I was wanting to keep track of multiple countdowns, but didn't want to take the time to actually do the math. I like the new MFC countdown counter because the tips are automatically input into the counter, so I don't have to do anything unless I get a ninja tip that was meant to go toward the countdown. Anyhow, if anyone is interested in my multiple countdowns counter, I'd be happy to give you the program along with the [simple] instructions on how to use it. Just message me.

*edited to mention that the counter will calculate up to 5 concurrent countdowns. It can also make any of the countdowns recurring (ex. "Every 50 tokens, quick flash"), except it's just a little buggy in that it won't add extra tokens toward the next round if the tip that reaches the target is more than enough. Still, it can be useful.
