From a cosplayer friend, she told me that even stuff from Japan has Chinese sweat shop quality. So it’s still a risk to get stuff from there.

Yoko Taro is the real MVP and was very public in supporting doujinshis featuring NieR: Automata characters. Definitely one of my favorite game developers.
