Colored Users Still Promoting 3rd Party sites

Just browsed a few models rooms from the main page, and in almost every single room there are light blue and purple users constantly spamming the free chat with links to various 3rd party websites. These are rooms with 1000+ users, and in most cases the model is oblivious to what is going on, or just doesn't seem to care.

With the level and frequency that this seems to be occurring at, I wonder if this should be considered the models problem, or if CB should not be taking some kind of proactive steps to help eliminate this from happening?

Yes.

That and any rendition of 18xx.com and others. It's really starting to become an issue in many of the top rooms. if the financial return for spamming these links is good enough to risk losing a purple account, then CB has problems bigger than they realize.

I have never knew of a way to check for this. Unless you are referring to them also being a broadcaster..??

Which is why I think this is a CB problem rather than the problem of the models to deal with.

I haven't went that far down the rabbit hole with this. I guess I could help by right-clicking their names and just reporting them for their activities, but the sheer numbers of people doing this at the current time would take me to task beyond what I would probably want to spend time doing.

I think these accounts are used by bots, but not generated by bots. They are natural users who fell for phishing, and now the spam bots abuse their accounts. They don't have any links in their Bio, like automatically generated bot accounts. Many of them have a lot of followers.

Many apps+bots try to catch spam, but most of them fail if the spamming account is colored or even purple. Muting a purple user requires chutzpa, as the model won't like at all when her best tippers get muted. Tip3Dice catches them. Most apps won't.

Spam bots use these captured natural accounts in the top channels only, with most traffic. The spam bot operators don't have very many colored accounts, and they know that somebody will report these accounts for spamming, and Chaturbate will block them. Their life time is limited, thus they are used for the most profitable channels only. Being molested by a purple spam bot is an accolade for a model, though I doubt she'll really appreciate that honor.

My impression is that Chaturbate also filters spam, just, they are neither as quick as the spam bot developers nor as some of the app developers, and that's not because they are stupid or lazy. They have a lot of things to do, and they must ensure their software works reliably under all circumstances. A spam bot developer can try a change and see how it works - if it works bad, he tries another variant. Chaturbate does not have that luxury. Chaturbate has to test every change thoroughly before releasing it. However, my impression is that during the last year, the amount of spam that reaches the chat has degraded, and my only explanation is that Chaturbate tries to catch spam. I may be wrong, though.

I am sure that helps. Colored accounts are a treasure for spam bot operators. I saw many such accounts being blocked within a few hours. I also can't spend all my time busting bots, but every then and now I report one of them. Chaturbate then bans these accounts, and then the real owners have a chance to reclaim their accounts if the gods of support favor them.

As a mod and most mods I know silence these bots when they turn up. Every model I know will silence or kick them out if us mods dont get there in time.
