Chaturbate does 4K now?!?

So I knew CB did 720p, but it looks like they're recently added some resolution and transcoding options.

These options go all the way from 240p to 2160p (4K!?!?!?!), now.

Check it:

480p

cb480p.PNG

1080p:

cb1080p.PNG

2160p (4K), note 1440p is also supported:

cb2160p.PNG

Transcode options if the model is streaming at high resolution. Note that it defaults to 480p for most streams

cbresolution.PNG

Does SM offer these resolutions, now? I know they used to be cutting edge for video quality for cam sites.

Please note, models, if you wish to stream at 1080p you should have an upload bandwidth of at least 3500Kbps (3.5Mbps), and for 4K I would suggest no less than 10000Kbps (10Mbps) of free upstream bandwidth. Granted, not everyone has this, so check with your ISP for speeds or run a speed test.

Viewers, even if you're on 1080p monitors (which most of us are, 4K monitors are still very expensive), if you have the downstream bandwidth, moving up to 1440p or 2160p (if available on the stream) you'll get a higher bit rate, so a better picture, still. You'll also benefit from supersampling, where the higher bitrate image is scaled down to your monitor, but edges will be much smoother (antialiasing).

Broadcasters with enough bandwidth and high end cam and computer equipment can indeed broadcast in up to 4k using obs at chaturbate. Newchloe18 from your screenshot does this (and other amazing things with obs). It looks as if you are in the room with her, takes camming to a new level for me. I haven't found the time yet to set obs up for myself.

How many cameras are there out there that would support this?

We should also note that Chloe has spent a great deal of money on her equipment, so I doubt she is using something like the Logitech Brio 4k30fps cam, and is probably using a much more expensive, more professional 4K camera. For most models who have fast enough computers and good enough bandwidth, the Brio would probably be a much more cost effective solution, since it also does 720p and 1080p at 60 frames per second. I think it is only $200.

Chloe uses a Sony 7R II according to a mod in her room (it's not even really a webcam), sometimes switches to a cam attached to a drone that flies above her. With her skills I would have not have been surprised if she build her own cam from scratch. And yes, this is NOT cheap equipment but credit to her. The stream quality is unparallelled in my opinion, as if you're in the room with her.

That feed is just whoa. Amazing.

And those aren't even the actual full resolution screen shots. The chat is still to the right plus all the info below. So to really see the full 1080p or higher, you need to be full screen and have a monitor capable of those resolutions.

Even so, I'm only on a 1080p monitor, so I couldn't do the full 2160p, even if I wanted to. You'd just notice more details and smoother edges on Chloe's cam.

Yes, and the lens she uses is a Canon 35mm f1.4 set wide open. Even the audio when she does her hilarious lipsync shows is outstanding. I've only seen one drone show but it was crazy seeing her husband's huge house! She has an incredible operation.

Fuck meeeeeee... man, I wish CB wasn't so ban-happy. Shit like this really makes me want to try the site sometimes.
>.<

MFC PLEASE CATCH UP, 800x600 IS A JOKE, OKAY?!

CB is ban happy, yes. To members and models.

MFC PLEASE CATCH UP, 800x600 IS A JOKE, OKAY?!

At least it's better than the 640x480 they were touting as "HD" for a while. I'm sure by the time everyone is on 8K (7680x4320 or 4320p) TVs, MFC will finally be ready to implement 720p video... maybe. They might still be working on 540p, though.

Planning to test setup for 4k this week if I find some time! I know I'll need to invest in a new cam but I at least want to see if my computer/Internet can handle it!

The new OBS interface on CB rocks. Anyone who spent time on Chloe's Nood.TV site will recognize that CB has copied almost verbatim her UI for resolution selection. Now all we need is for CB to start using HTML5 instead of Flash on the client side. I actually spent time on Nood at 2am in the morning one day - with Chloe asking me to do testing at various resolutions in the chat window - and what we discovered was that HTML5 allowed clients to receive MUCH higher resolution without jitters. The Flash based client software is extremely CPU intensive as resolutions get larger.

Chloe uses DSLR cameras, not webcams. She started with Canon and moved to Sony. DSLR lets you select the lens, and it has the interesting quality of doing an extremely narrow range zoom on the face, while allowing the background to fade out.

Chloe is obviously near the top of the game in webcam performers. Her camera, lighting, and sound are always first rate.

Im on CB and I would love to try some higher rez... i have the C920 so i can get 1080p but my comp is too old so i slow down to 3-4 FPS. @Magnolia , CB is ban happy?
Oooooooh yeah. Just do a search for "banned from CB" on here. It's insane.

This might be a little biased though. Persons who have no problems with cb bans (like myself) are unlikely to open a thread here and say that.

Maybe, I've just seen enough bans for no real reason to keep me from working there. :shake:

You've just got to remember, that maybe great to broadcast in 4K, but there wont be much call for it for users to watch in 4K if they havent got the internet speed to watch it. But at least Chaturbate gives the users the option of downgrading the resolution on webcams that use OBS.

BTW Chaturbate are already using html5.

On my system, Chrome can use hardware acceleration for HTML5 video but Flash can't. That makes a huge difference with large resolutions.

We could say the same thing about 1080p video on YouTube, Amazon, Netflix, Twitch, etc., as well. Hell, Twitch only recently really started going for 1080p, and the way a lot of Twitch streamers talk, there's no need for it because apparently everyone who watches Twitch lives in areas with less than 1Mbps downstream service and can't watch 1080p video. And that's just 1080p, not 4K.

And, guess what? Despite the fact that 4K TVs are at under 15% penetration in the US, and pretty much the same for PC monitors, YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix all have some 4K content available to stream. If one doesn't have the bandwidth or the display capable of watching something in 4K? Then those services transcode the streams to the appropriate resolution for the stream/display.

But at least Chaturbate gives the users the option of downgrading the resolution on webcams that use OBS.

That CB is offering transcodes is an extremely nice touch. Twitch is owned by Amazon, and they don't offer transcodes to all their streamers... you can get it if you are a partner, or if you have enough viewers at the time and depending on how many others are in front of you. Remember. OWNED. BY. AMAZON. DOESN'T. TRANSCODE. EVERY. STREAM. Last I saw, CB wasn'tr owned by one of the biggest companies in the world, and is offering transcode options. In fact, they started out as a copycat of MFC, basically, but now they've advanced so far beyond MFC in terms of features for models and members, it's actually shameful MFC still pulls in as much as it does. Maybe if they weren't so quick on the banhammer, they'd have more models and members.

Reminder tho that models should always, if possible, shoot all their content in 4K and then downconvert it. The picture will be of much higher quality.

In other news, I recently found out that uploading an 8K video to Facebook auto-converts it to a 360 video. Had to use a 4K version instead, but that was a fun discovery.

I don't see any advantage to this. Super high resolution doesn't always make everything look good. I just watched a comedy shot on high resolution using raw video and it was overkill. It made it look surreal in a horrible way. I don't see any cam girl advantages to shooting 4k. I would rather see them learn how to use lights properly, have fast internet and so on....

I agree with that. A model with a good five point lighting system shooting even at 576p is going to look phenomenal compared to one with bad lighting shooting at 4K.

If you had great lighting, great audio, and 720P video, I don't think anything in the video stream is going to hold you back. Everything above 720P is just reaching diminishing returns for a webcam model. Now if we are talking about projecting a major motion picture, or a video game with landscapes, onto a 72 inch screen, you are going to see the difference at 4K.

Porn is often an excalerator for technology. 25Mbps down is realitivly cheap. 4k computer monitor are only 250.

People said the same thing about HD. And they'll probable say the same thing about 8K & 16K.

Allot of the issues people see on 4k come from upscaling content. Like old movies, that weren't shot in 4k. Or when people shoot in 4k, but then have to view/edit on HD.

But I tottaly agree, that good lighting, makeup, extra. Also very important. Maybe even more so at the higher resolutions.

I agree the transcoding options for viewers in the new CB OBS interface is fantastic. BUT...how many non-technical viewers understand that CB is starting them off at relatively low resolutions? Unless the viewer takes the initiative to explore, they will not understand that they have much higher resolution options available.

Then that's their own fault? One could say the same for YouTube. Often times if YouTube's server thinks a connection isn't being fast enough, it will default to 240p, 360p, or 480p, unless the user changes it. If they know how to change resolutions in YouTube, then they should know how to do it on CB.
