cam with a chromebook?

So I woke up this morning to a laptop that had kicked the bucket. So I'm researching trying to find a new one and I keep seeing chromebooks that are a pretty decent price. Can I use this to cam?

If you work on streamate or cams.com you won't be able to run the encoder... They really don't have much power to them at all. You might be able to get away with streaming on MFC or CB for awhile, but... I'd say invest in something that's going to last awhile and not crap out after a few months. I have issues with my Macbook Air on some sites if that gives you any idea.

A chromebook can NOT run any external software. So Skype is out of the question, so is manycams etc.

It's been asked before. I think the answer has always been no. I don't think I know of any camgirl using it on mfc.

Earlier this year I went to a well know UK store, PC World, to but two laptops. The guy there would not stop trying to sell me two Chrome Books. I told him exactly how I'd need to use it and he still kept telling me it would be fine. I knew it wouldn't. He annoyed the hell out of me and lost my custom.

Now, PC World have this gizmo on the way out where you let them know how your visit was by pressing one of four smiley face buttons...I behaved like a small child and went back in several times to press the grumpy face!

I have only used a chromebook for all my time of camming. (Since May 2014.) I've never been interested in Skype, so I don't see it as a loss. It can take a beating, is light weight, easy for travel, has a fast load time. Never have had an issue. The only time they broke was due to being punched by someone else. I LOVE my Chromebook.

I have an old, thick dell laptop for video uploads. I don't edit my videos, part of their charm is it is all done in one take, so I record, pop in the sd card, upload to dropbox, and upload to ManyVids, and that is all that laptop is used for. It wouldn't be ideal for camming because it is so old, but reliable and sturdy enough to be my dedicated vid-creation laptop. I really think the chromebook is quite lovely for camming. I love how quick you can just open it up, get to MFC, and be camming in seconds, while other people would be waiting for their computer to load. Plus no updates!!!! I always see girls dealing with their laptop suddenly updating.

I think I am going to now go to a pawn store and get myself a "thick" laptop and do the same.

@NerdieBirdie I just found out how to record using my Chromebook's built-in webcam as well my Logitech 920. This way of recording is free & allows for up to 5 min videos.
