Ok, so my cam is lagging, and I wanted to make a thread specifically for my computer (Acer Aspire Cloudbook 15 AO1-431-C8G8)...

It has not lagged this much before so IDK what is wrong, going to search for solutions in the meantime!

If I found the same laptop, that is not a lot of memory. If you indeed have 2GB of memory on that laptop, you basically can't run very many programs at once without feeling the effects of low memory.

Just having FireFox open with 3 tabs along with all the background processes, I'm using 35% of my memory which is 2.8GB of memory (8GBx.35=2.8GB)

You can go into task manager and see for yourself how much you're using. Would also delete any temporary files (Download the free version of CCLeaner).

Thank you!

The only useful thing CCleaner is doing is clearing your browser cache .

Clearing your browser cache is easy. It's tottaly un-nessisary to pay some one 30 bucks to do this.

FYI CCleaner default setting is known to delete parts of windows. It can break your computer.

Ok thank you I didn't know that!

CCleaner has a free version and no it doesn't delete parts of your windows. Additionally, if it's only clearing your browser cache then there's no risk of it deleting part of windows is there? Contradictory statements are contradictory.

Never had a problem using it, been using it for 7 or 8 years - though infrequently (doesn't need running daily, weekly, etc).Taken assumptions over your OS now (operating system).

Why is your computer slow? It may be that it's installing updates and/or doing some caching. If you have anti virus you can create a profile that ensures during camming it doesn't do anything untoward (anti virus scan/update), set windows updates to ask before installing (but DO install them, just not when you're working), set your "active" time for when you cam against windows updates (so it does updates/scans/disk cleanups and defrags outside this time). By default windows 10 will do a weekly defrag - using up plenty of hdd read/writes. All told these can "slow" your system down suddenly.

Most of my lagging when playing games isn't to do with my memory.. it's hard disk usage (and i have 8Gb on my PC of memory - and I do monitor things when performance is bad). I don't have a solid state drive, and windows installing an update (or my anti virus installing an update) can wallop the disk for a while, making everything "lag" and a game unplayable. Memory fine, hdd 100% read/write usage (~45% full).

Before you cam, turn that laptop on - run windows update, anti virus update, any other update (java etc). Turn off the search indexer and weekly defrag (or schedule it to non working times). You can start task manager if it appears to lag and check out your CPU/Memory/Disk usage and see what's high at the time it's happening. What process is killing what (mem, disk, cpu etc)

It's free, no idea where you get $30 from. I've installed it on every computer I've owned (4 machines), and never paid.

Having read the specs for that laptop... erm, yeah. If it's doing anything at all it may lag - that's not a lot of memory and the cpu is poor too.

Yeah...I am saving up for a new laptop...this one was one we got for as cheap as possible.

Is there a reason specifically for getting a laptop? if you are doing long cam session you will kill a laptop pretty quickly. Much better to use a desktop.
