Sometimes we barely work and make a ton of money.
Sometimes we work our asses off for barely any money.
Sometimes we are in a bad mood but can't afford to take the day off.
Sometimes we are in an awesome mood but can only stay on for a couple hours.
Sometimes we are in an awesome mood but for some unknown reason no one wants to pay us for private, group, or public shows, and our mood falls.
Sometimes we slip up.
Sometimes we shine.
We are only human. All of us our different. Each day is different for each of us. On top of that, we are FEMALE. This means that each and every day our hormones change, our chemical makeup changes, our mood changes.
So not only do we have to come up with things that other people will enjoy, but we have to come up with things that we will genuinely enjoy, or pretend to enjoy something we really aren't in the mood for right now because it's what we "normally" do.
I've had days where I skated. For me, skating is making anything over $100 in 8 hours with the lower than usual effort. Divide that out, anything over $12.50 an hour is skating. When I'm making less than $10 an hour, I can't pay the bills. When I'm making less than $15 an hour, I can't pay the taxes on what I make and cover the bills, unless I work over the 40 hours a week that is the generally accepted "full time job".
What goes into planning a day on mfc?
Minimal effort is "what do I have to wear on camera that I haven't worn in awhile?"
Usual effort is "what do I have to wear on camera that I haven't worn in awhile? Which countdowns can I currently do that haven't been done in awhile? (Is he going to be home, confining me to the room, or can I do naked ddr or cooking while he's gone?) What should I put as my topic that sounds enticing?"
Above and beyond is usual + "is there anything I can advertise on twitter? what can I auction off? Which site should I work? What sort of mood am I in? How can I capitalize on that mood? Should I maybe skip to do videoes and pics? Maybe start late for a video? What member wanted ___?"
And that's just the planning. Then you have the execution.
I did a cake show for 600 tokens for my birthday bash. It took me an hour to bake the cake, 20 mins to do the show in public, and half an hour to clean the tub afterwards. Factor in that the baking was only 20 mins of work, and that's still $30 for a little over an hour. Factor in that I had to hustle for three hours to get the 600 tokens... and now you've got $30 for a little over 4 hours of work. (btw, after the cake show things picked up dramatically, so it evened out to a little over $100 for the whole night... but with teh balloons and the jeapordy, and emailing everyone about how many game tickets they had... I put a good 6 hours of planning and prep into the show, and worked for 8 hours on camera.. which means I spend a total of 14 hours getting a little over $100. Which when divided out and rounded properly is $7.14 an hour. just under minimum wage. I think it evened out to minimum wage with that little over, and when you factor in the away-time while on camera... x.x)
Every day that I work I prep both my room (the actual room, not the virtual one) and my self. I also have to break my room back down at the end, and do cleanup. You can assume that no matter how long or little I was on cam, there were at least 2 hours of activities that were related to camming which happened while not even logged into the site. That means if I "cam for 8 hours", I really worked for 10 hours.
I work six days a week. 40 hours on cam. 12 hours off-cam. 52 hours a week. Not including times when it takes more than 2 hours for set-up or cleanup (like my birthday bash). If minimum wage is $7.35 an hour, I should get $382.20 for the week. But wait! Min wage should get overtime for any hours above and beyond the 40. This means I should get an extra $44.10 for those 12 setup/cleanup hours. Which puts what I *SHOULD* be making at $426.30 a week. Otherwise, I might as well work 52 hours at a minimum wage job.
Now factor in this: insanity runs in my family. When I work a minimum wage job, I can feel my mind start to slip. Until I have the skills required to get a better job, I can't work any other job. Hopefully, I won't find my mind starting to slip in other jobs. Most likely, I will be a CPA working my own business. Girls, I will let you know when I can help you with your taxes
(I plan to focus on two main areas: camgirls, since I'll be a former camgirl, and nonprofits, cause I like helping people.) There is the small chance, however, that camming is literally the only job that won't drive me insane. It's the only one confirmed to not drive me insane so far.
