Hello, I am new to this forum and don't exactly know how it works but I am really needing some help here with this question.
I live in Canada and I want to become a psychologist and I am in school trying to pursue my passion but I am scared that somehow my future employer will be able to find that I worked as a camgirl before.
I do plan on quitting eventually...I have been camming for about a year now, and I really do enjoy it but I am really scared for what might become of it.
How can they trace that I have worked on MFC? (other than they have actually SEEN me on a video)

Also, I have been able to find videos/images of myself on porn websites and have been able to get them removed by contacting MFC, and in most cases, they have been great with removing them from websites, however, have you camgirls had a lot of issues with family and friends being able to find out that you're a camgirl?

I would greatly appreciate some feedback and help, cause I am kind of freaking out at the moment!!

Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

There is a search feature in the upper right, so that you can find answers to your questions. Sometimes a thread hasn't been made yet, but these are super common topics so there are already several discussions about these things! Here are just some of them.

EDIT: OH DUH! First things first, you should get verified and get model status so that you can check out threads in the "Models Only" section of the forum, where we generally talk more about all of the details and realities of camming. Some of the below threads are for the public so you can read them in the mean time while you wait to be verified.

Here is how to get model status:

END EDIT

Firstly, this is one of the more important threads on here. It's about the reality of putting yourself on the internet and it being there forever. Personally I feel it's super important for any camgirl to just read through and think about.

https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/viewt ... lity+check

These are all about getting a job after camming and whether or not it might cause problems, etc.

https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/viewt ... job+career

These are about finding content of yourself/each other and ways to get it removed:

Hope this helps!

If there is a board or organization that certifies you as a psychologist you should read their by-laws on being a member. Many will have morals clauses, which is sad but is a fact of life for some professions. Also, realize that if you hide or lie about your past work on applications etc it gives the employer and easy way to fire you no matter what it was that you did in the past if they were to find out about the lie.

Here is a video of Gauge, a former porn star. If you fast forward to 2 min and 30 seconds she tells of her experience of going to surgical tech school and someone recognizing her.

Guage was a pretty big name, though, and it was hard to miss her if you watched porn at all during her prime. Also Billy Watson's channel is pretty awesome. :thumbleft:

I know quite a few sex workers who've gone on to become psychologists. In fact, one of them is very open about her past and considers it an asset.

That isn't to say you won't run into bias, and you'll want to prepare yourself in case it happens. Just know that it can be done, and has been done.

Thank you so much, this has really helped.

It does make sense what you are saying, however, Gauge is pretty well known, and I do not go on cam every day, maybe once a week or so when I have the time. And I am not very well known...my camscore before was about 5000, now it is at about 2800 because I did not go online for a while due to school and other things.

All I am saying is that I KNOW that I may run into some problems, but I've been reading about how people in the US get taxed because they work for MFC, however, since I am in Canada, I haven't had to do those tax forms, so what I am asking is that since I do not have to do those taxes, there really isn't any other way for my future employers to be able to tell that I worked for MFC, UNLESS they saw my videos/pictures.

Am I incorrect?

Thank you for all the feedback though, it has really helped considerably! :h:

In Canada, we aren't sent the tax forms from the websites, but we still have to pay taxes on our earnings! You just have to declare it all yourself.

Also I'm a Canadian hoping to e a psychologist too :hello2:

Camscore is not a good way to tell how "well known" you are...or if you will be recognized.

Can't remark on the tax thing, but when it comes to something like the hiring process, there's no reason for camming to be on your c.v., no more than, say, bartending, or working as a cater-waiter. Typically, you'd only include whatever's relevant to your field/profession, which would probably be your education, research, publications, grants/fellowships, related work experience, etc. There's no reason a future employer would know about MFC unless it's been made public.

Okay so since you have to pay taxes on this, now will I be able to be found out by my future employers because of the taxes thing?
I'm so confused, I'm sorry for sounding quite annoying

I feel like you did not really read the threads that I linked to you. This question has been asked and absolutely harped on many times on the forum and I don't think you are really likely to find a different answer.

This is the type of question that does not necessarily have a set answer, you really have to think about the opinions and responses that people have given and apply it to your own situation. It all depends on so many things but what it really comes down to is YOU. Only you can weigh the risks and make the the decisions.

Can you be found?
Yes.

Will you FOR SURE be found?
No.

In the particular jobs you might be going for, will they potentially turn you away because they've found out through some means?
Yes. Potentially. But it depends on your specialization, what kind of place you want to work at, what you want to do with Psych, etc. A lot of this even YOU wont know until you've gone further in your life and education. Opportunities and changes come up and it is hard to predict.

I could do that for a long time, but it really makes more sense for you to do it because I don't know 99.9% of the information.

I will say this. There is always a chance that you could be found and that you could lose opportunities because of it. (Depending on what you plan to do with camming, I would say the chances are reasonably low, but it only takes ONE wrong person finding out for it to fuck you up. It's a risk and a gamble.) If you feel there is a chance for it to ruin your potential to have the dream job that you would like to do for the rest of your life, then you should probably not cam. There are a lot of factors though that determine how likely camming is to fuck your shit up though, so if you do a lot of research on your potential future job options and learn about others in the profession (like the psychologist who is open about her sex work past), you might find that with the right plan, you are really likely to be fine. We just don't know you or your reasons for wanting to cam or your life goals or anything, so I highly suggest you read through some more threads on this and/or have a bit of time to think and weigh the risks and benefits.

I hope I don't come across as too harsh, but I do think that it is a big decision. I wish you luck and hope that you figure out what is best for you and makes you happy! We are here to help, really, but there are just some things that are just a bit more complicated and don't have straight answers.

I promise I am trying to help and not trying to mean at all. Many people don't even put in as much thought as you have already so I absolutely respect that you've taken the time to think about this issue!!

lol, you're the nicest mean person ever if you think that sounded mean. :p

I'm also a psychology major, and no, I'm not particularly worried about being outed to my (future) employers, or to anyone else for that matter. I'm interested in specializing in sexology and/or sex-positive counselling, and I'm also interested in being a sex worker advocate. I would love to work for a sex-positive organization, or for myself, and plan on being relatively open about my past career & life choices.

I could get outed to potential employers.
I have been found by random people in my life.
And yes, my choices could have a negative impact on my future.

...Then again, I could also get hit by a bus tomorrow.

I don't choose to live my life in fear of what "might" happen 10 years from now. Not because I'm careless, but because I know that I'm capable of dealing with whatever happens. :)
