Usually somewhere between flippant and glib.
First of all, I would suggest NEVER buying the stuff on a whim, over the interwebz, or via phone unless you don't mind wasting money and time. If I'm interested in a product, I'll research it on Youtube and wait until they eventually make their way to the Dollar Stores, CVS, or Walgreens... and test them with my own grubby mitts and peepers, in person. That-a-way you don't get gimmicked or pay their exorbitant shipping fees and can usually get it for way less.

The only two items I've been remotely interested in lately are the Pocket Hose and the Orgreenic 10" Ceramic Green Non-Stick Fry Pan. Both of which I bought on sale for $12.99 (each) at CVS. After using them for about 6 months now, I'd recommend them both for that price.

The Pocket Hose has hard plastic threaded connection terminals, probably so they don't cut into the hose material. If you're careful about that and don't over tighten them, it works pretty much as advertised. One exception is that it doesn't quite shrivel up as much as advertised and the outer material absorbs dirt stains if you use it in muddy areas.

The Orgreenic 10" Ceramic Green Non-Stick Fry Pan performed nowhere near as advertised for me and Youtube tests have various results. That said, it's still the best $12.99 non-stick fry pan I've ever bought. Granted, I'm no chef, but nor do I want to spend the $$ for quality stainless steel cookware that my friends or family usually end up with anyway because I tend to move around. The handle stays nice and cool at normal heating temps and even when stuff does stick beyond a paper towel clean-up, medium elbow grease with an SOS pad has always done the trick. You just should probably re-season it after the SOS scrub.

Are there any "As Seen On TV" products you've been happy with or would recommend?

I got a Pocket Hose for free, but mine doesn't work like that.

I remember seeing an As Seen On TV store in a Long Island, NY mall.

And yes, you can't beat finding the same product in Dollar Tree. :-D I think even some of those cleaning products at Dollar Tree are considered As Seen On TV products?

The SAME product MAY be a deal.

Those cleaning products are more often than not, a cheap rip off.

Mean Green cleaning spray and LA's Totally Awesome cleaning spray are both good products available at Dollar Tree. I'm not sure if they're 'As Seen on T.V.' products though.

Way to commit, or not, you shop there.

The chemical composition of Mean Green is a secret last resort.

Sunrise Mall used to have an As Seen On T.V. store, but it's been closed down. Broadway Mall (Hicksville) has one though. What a terrible name for a town, by the way...lol.

I have a pink Snuggie. :)

Nice!
Even tho it's only a long backwords robe....It fucking rocks!

the orgreenic pan is a joke imo. ive got 2 cast iron skillets that are just as non stick, hold temperature better and will last until next century with even half assed maintenance. i also got a similar type of non stick sauce pan for 8 bucks more that is actually well built and doesnt have such trouble holding heat (green pan brand for what it matters). yeah the orgreenic is fairly cheap in price, but its also very cheap in quality.
then again i've worked in pro kitchens as an assistant and taken culinary courses so im sort of picky about my cookware, knives, etc.

seriously. considering a price/return ratio there is nothing that can touch cast iron. it does take seasoning and a slightly higher level of maintenance than other types. but even compared to stainless steel its easier to clean, bacteriostatic and has more even heating, and holds the heat better (which is essential for pan searing, frying or braising.

ive used copper, stainless steel, enameled aluminum, steel clad aluminum, teflon non stick, non-teflon/ptfe non stick, glass (pyrex) and cast iron over the years. glass is the only thing that touches cast iron for cooking, and it only touches it for pots and baking, anything else its useless imo.

teflon is ok for the first few months as long as you dont crank the heat up over 300 (which means no real frying, and good luck getting a quick sear and finishing in an oven) but it is so vulnerable to scratches and off gassing its ridiculous.

any way, enough rambling about pots and pans ( we just remodeled part of our kitchen so ive been re organizing and such, its on my mind lol)

I confess I love as seen on tv crap now given most of it sucks, but my pocket hose works alright. I have Ben carrying it around for weeks waiting for for a opportunity to whip that sucker out. "Step back mam I've got this".
I can't wait for my no no to come in so I can start carrying that around. "Mam I've got this"

Consider your wait over.

Maggy gets the biggest laugh out of the commercial where the guy jams a Q-Tip in his ear and yells OW!

That commercial cracks me up too...with his loud ass. I've always just used a clean tissue or paper towel to get the stuff out of my ears...lol. I don't really keep Q-Tips around.

I use a combination of viva paper towels (cut into small squares, 16 squares from 1 towel, they're almost as soft as cloth :p ), and Q-Tips. Viva any time I feel it's needed, Q-Tips when they start to itch.

I had a teacher in grade school who told us "never put anything in your ear smaller than your elbow."

So, I tried that and gosh, my shoulder was thrown out for two weeks!

:)

Why You Really, Truly Should Not Put Q-Tips Into Your Ears
http://commonhealth.wbur.org/2012/11/q-tips-ears-danger

When I was in foster care, my foster parents who taught me hygiene did it to me. It hurt like hell. Luckily, my hearing is still good enough to mostly pass muster. Only real damage is a lack of balance, but I've always blamed that on the multiple ear infections which started before my ears were ever cleaned out like that. Strangely enough, I stopped getting infections when we started cleaning my ears... I just have to wear ear muffs in the spring and fall because they're overly sensitive to cold and wind.

How I was taught to do it- slowly insert the Q-tip until it starts to brush against those hairs that are inside the ear, then twirl it around on it's way out. How the parents did it- push the q-tips in until I started to pull away from the pain, then push it in a little deeper insisting that since it can go that deep in the parent's ear, it should be fine in my ear... cause we all know that children are just as big as adults and every human has the exact same proportions... x.x

Most of the "As Seen On TV" products that I have are kids stuff, but hey for you parents- here's a reviews!

Both kiddos have a dream light- those little stuffed animal, pillow pet type things w/ the night light stars on them. Both kids LOVE them. They do project the stars, have a timer on them (in case they fall asleep with them on), and they don't drain batteries, had the same batteries in for a year now!

They also both have those stupid slippers "Stompies" that you stomp on and the ears or eyes flop up. They love them, They work... so I guess I'd recommend them! lol

Pillow Pets are also epic- though I think their moving away from the "as seen on tv" b/c popular brands are picking up the idea too.

I got the spinny pet nail trimmer thingy. I wasn't a huge fan, it works I guess but your pet has to not be afraid of it first! plus you have to replace the spinny part often.

My mom got the No-No (hair removal thing) from walmart- I'm actually NOT sure if it was the actual "As Seen on Tv" no-no or one of the other brands, Ithink like the pillow pets they realized there was something to be had there and have actually moved into stores. She swears by it, I've never used and don't pay attention when I see her to notice results but she uses it and loves it.

Also- I have a snuggie. LOVE it. Don't judge.

&& that's all the experience I have with the As-Seen-On-Tv stuff. I bought it all at Walmart , too. I wouldn't buy that stuff off TV.

The Pocket Hose is JUNK!

I hereby revoke any prior recommendation.

All it is... is surgical tubing (cheap quality at that) surrounded by some sort of imitatation canvas/vinyl material. If the outer protection sleeve has even the slightest pin hole... the pressured cheap tubing will find it, escape like a thin membraned, cheapo water balloon and pop before you can say "oh shit."

Don't waste your money or time with this product! :snooty:
