I've always felt this way too, and am totally fine with screenshots or recordings of onlyfans/private shows/whatever, so long as they're for private use. Obviously some people are going to try and ruin it for everybody, but that's always going to be a thing, with or without my say-so.
But not everyone is going to feel this way, and its their right to decide what people can and can't do with their content, which is why it would be best for everybody to allow the creator to have an optional download feature in the same way that we can put optional price tags on our content. Hell, why not go the pornhub route and optionally charge for downloads?
I'm sure this would make more creators happy with the power to decide and make it clear what's allowed and what isn't - and maybe even earn a little more in their bottom line.
When I download, it's only for personal use, and not shared/giveaway. Like you said, people will try and share/co-op it with others via trade, free, etc. That happens with music and big movies also.
I'm not familiar with PH, as haven't visited the site in years. But, have no issues with purchasable downloads. Was going to mention it in my previous post, as it's similar to movies one can purchase off of Netflix, Prime, Google Play, etc. where it may come free with the subscription and can download it to watch with a certain time. Or buy it outright which one can access any time online. IIRC, permanent downloads work too. But, haven't tried yet.
Where I have doubts on that though is the content providers mentioned above will very likely be around for 15-20 years at a minimum. Models on OnlyFans, MFC, etc. most likely won't and will at some point delete their content. So, if I purchased it, then it comes back to the "Can I still access it online?" via my account question if they decide to leave?
To make it even more complicated, it then moves into the realm of who has the right to the media? Yes, the content creator/distributor may own the copyright and distribution rights. But, if it is a purchasable item, then the buyer has the right to do what they want with it so long as it doesn't violate copyright laws. In the case of physical media (CD/DVD/Blueray), one may retain the original media for as long as they wish, and they even have the legal right to make a backup copy of it. When it comes to purchased online content, it either needs to be 100% downloadable. Or, it is implied that it shall be available indefinitely to the original purchaser.
If it's "for sale" on another site (say Share) but included in the timeline on Onlyfans... I see no problem with that, right? Or if a model has the same videos for sale on both?
How I meant that was if a model puts the exact same content for sale on MFCShare, MV, C4S, or other clip sites, no problem. It's a one time purchasable content. But, in the case of OnlyFans, where it's a monthly subscription service and that exact same content is found on a one-time purchase site, I don't see the value of OnlyFans. Especially when there wouldn't be any new, unique content on OnlyFans. Now, if it's a free subscription and you can purchase them, then it'd be similar to C4S, etc.
Though, the question then come up, what is the "life" of the video on OnlyFans and if it can be downloaded. Which, if it can't, I'd rather buy it elsewhere and have the ability to download it with a link instead of having to use work around methods of doing it.
If you want to look at this from a more vanilla perspective, then the argument is what's the benefit of having Netflix and Amazon Prime at the same time? They both offer mostly the same content, yet they both now offer unique content not available elsewhere. So, it comes down to which gives the better value and which tends to align more with your needs/wants.
I specifically price my videos differently on OF because they aren't (as easily) downloadable. Wondering if others do the same, and if so, if they'd feel slighted at this.
Or, do they even realize that it's not easily downloadable compared to other sites if they use them? Not to sound negative/derogatory. But, there are content providers who really don't have much of a clue of what other sites can/do offer. Granted, this comes with experience, and relies on them doing research here, or elsewhere on differences. But, there's other variables than just price differences.
