If anyone likes a little PvP and a lot of freedom in their MMO, Archeage might be of interest. The look is fairly standard Korean high-fantasy, but the game play branches out from standard theme park to something a lot like EVE. You can spend your time doing whatever you like, whether it's crafting, farming, trading, adventuring or killing players for loot, revenge, territory defense or in sieges. And there's sea travel and piracy!

Anyway, here's a guy who shows you a little about the game generally. There are a bunch of people streaming on Twitch if anyone wants to see more.

I'm still playing Rift which is also by Trion. :<

It's just my "zone out and have fun for a few hours" game that doesn't require much thought.

The first closed beta event was this past weekend. It was pretty fun, since our guild was doing a dry run to see what our best options are for launch. Getting your economic base established is a big part of the game, and it was really nice to see so many folks working together to get stuff done in a brief period.

So is the game any good?

I dont usually play and free to play games, but this one looks tempting. Also how much do you reckon one has to spend on it to not have to farm for 1000 hours?

It was, but I'm about ready to stick a fork in it. Actually, I've gone a couple of days without logging in, so I *may* have already.

It's pretty fun to level a character, but you won't enjoy yourself for very long at end-game without either investing some money, or a LOT of time.
