So, it appears this was just announced as a TV show. On Starz. Run by Brian Fuller (Hannibal, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me).

And I just got hard.

I need to reread the book. But I have like 50 new books to read, so maybe not.

But Fuller's involvement is what does it for me. I never thought he of all people could do Hannibal (just didn't seem his style), but holy shit, I was so glad to be wrong.

i'm just happy that it's not network and apparently Gaiman himself is somehow involved (they just didn't dump a truckload of money at his feet and say thanks for the rights)

HBO had been working for years to develop an American Gods series and had gotten close to greenlighting it a few times, but they were never able to come up with a script that they liked. (HBO rejected a few drafts for a pilot because they weren't close enough to the book, according to Gaiman.) They abandoned the project in 2013, which was quite a disappointment.

I'm glad Starz has picked it up. Hopefully they have better luck coming up with a script that works. And of course having Bryan Fuller involved is a great sign. (I can't express how much I loved Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me.)

Brian Fuller attached is interesting in a good way. Here's hoping it can survive longer than two seasons.

I'm excited about it, American Gods is one of my favorite novels, hopefully they do it justice.
