I have mixed feelings on this...

On the one hand, the doctor did say that he wasn't contagious anymore. But then again, it does set a bad example. The porn industry does have certain standards that they need to stand by in order to keep everyone in the community safe. And now, because of this ass hat's forgery, there's a new law that everyone has to wear condoms (gee, thanks for ruining it for the rest of us guy).

I guess the best way to handle this situation really would be to make an example out of this guy to send a message to anyone else thinking about forging clean STD test results. Who's to say that the next person who does this won't be contagious either?!

At least Syphilis is curable and does no lasting damage if detected early enough.

In general, though, I have no sympathy for STD carriers who are not honest with their partners. Having an STD sucks, and I feel sorry for you, but your urge to have sex is not more important than the health of your partner.

I think we should consider a law mandating regular HIV tests for everybody, and then tattooing HIV + on the ass of every infected person. That would stop AIDS pretty quickly.

That's a bit excessive.
Imagine if a top model on MFC were forced to get that tattoo. Or a popular *solo* adult model. There's no reason for them to advertise such a private matter to their customers.
What if someone were at a gym or somewhere where there are shared showers... hell, even weating a skimpy thong at the beach... again, everyone there would know their private business.
I understand where you're coming from, bawksy, but you can't discriminate like that against people just because they have a disease. To me it's no better than chemo patients being forced to tattoo "CANCER" on their foreheads.
Besides, how would you ever stop people from altering or disguising the tattoo? And who's going to pay for getting them all removed when they develop a cure for HIV?

Ahhhh... I don't agree. Just how in the world did the aids virus just pop up into existence 54 years ago in the first place??? And what about when Bayer (knowingly) sold all of those hemophilia blood products that was contaminated with the aids virus???
I know I'm just going to come across as a paranoid conspiracy theorist to many by saying this, but I know in my heart of hearts that the "powers that be" would just find some other way to make sure that the public gets infected with HIV/AIDS; or if it does get wiped out, expect to see the next big epidemic to take the place of aids right around the corner.

Personally, if someone with AIDS has sex with someone without telling them, I judge it to be attempted murder. Or certainly reckless endangerment.

The tattoo thing I don't agree with. People would be treated like lepers. What I do agree with is being forced to have regular testing, for everything.
And then encouraging people to ask new partners for their results. If everyone has to get results it would be an easier thing to bring out on a night on the pull, or to show someone you're dating. Obviously people could be encouraged not to completely trust a piece of paper, but it might just encourage people to be more aware of who they sleep with and the importance of condoms.

I don't really see why regular testing isn't mandatory, most sti's are ridiculously easy to get rid of, and really easy to test for.

I think once someone tests as HIV positive, a symbol should be added to their driver's license. It's not another thing to have to carry around. As someone who wears glasses, I already have a symbol on there to indicate that, so why not one for those with HIV? The people who are worried about catching it can ask to see id.

Either that, or people with a clean bill get a card, about the size of a driver's license and kept in their wallet. The card would list their name, a picture of them, their birthdate, and the date and place of their last test. It would employ the same sorts of security measures as a driver's license, making it harder to forge. Such a card should also be able to double as a photo-id for the purchase of cigs and/or alcohol, so people who don't drive don't need to get a state id. Then, it would be up to the prospective partner to decide if the test was too long ago to be trustworthy.

I didn't think bawksy's tattoo idea was meant seriously, but he has a point.

It is possible to create a system where people can show their sexual partners (and other involved parties) which STDs they do or don't have. Right now if I went home with somebody at the bar, they would probably laugh at my face if I asked them to show proof they are HIV-free. If there were something in place where such identification was normal and even expected? I would wager that the spread of various diseases and viruses would be much more easily controlled.

We live in a world where even getting tested for STDs is considered bad and whorish. Asking for proof that someone's genitals aren't secretly dripping with herpes is considered outlandishly rude and has the potential to destroy relationships and reputations. I don't know if I would agree with mandatory testing, but I'm all for a world where people will put their big-kid boots on and be able to give and receive proof that they don't have potentially life-destroying sexually transmitted viruses if they want to get some Vitamin D.

There was a Law and Order SVU episode about a suspect who was HIV positive and was fucking around with underage girls. One of the detectives caught him about to have sex with another underage girl, and the detective told the girl that this guy is HIV positive. The detective got in trouble for doing that, but I probably would've done the same thing if I was him. This dude probably wasn't gonna tell the girl about his HIV status, and he would've went right along in having unprotected sex with her. And there was another scenario (in a different episode, I believe) where a married man - who was HIV positive - had been unfaithful to his wife with another man. The truth about his infidelity (and his HIV status) came out, and in that episode it was the A.D.A. who gave the wife the full scoop. I felt so sorry for that poor woman, especially when she learned that she was now HIV positive.
