Idk if this is a good place to post this or not but I'm gunna post it anyway just in case I can get some answers. Okay so, I’ve spent the last 3 days or so doing research on laws regarding sex work (in general) in Canada but I’m not really getting very far. I was told by acid-kitty-things on tumblr that being a webcam model in Canada is legal, which is good for me, because I’ve been looking into it (won’t be doing it until later in life when I get myself sorted out for it), but I’m not sure about other kinds of sex work. I know I read somewhere that currently there is a law that says it is legal to sell sexual services but illegal to buy said services (because that totally makes sense). So basically, what I wanna ask is, does anyone know if Justin Trudeau (the current Canadian prime minister) has said anything in regards to sex work? Like, does he plan on doing anything to change the current laws on it? If you have any answers please let me know.

being a consumer of sex work in Canada, I can tell you this...
yes, selling sexual services is not a crime (although there are some aspects surrounding sex work that remain illegal), and yes buying sexual services IS a crime. you can sell, I can't buy... I'm the one arrested for breaking the law... because you're the victim apparently o_O
this is mainly directed towards full service sex workers and perverts (the word used by the former Minister of Justice Peter McKay to describe the guys who sought out sex workers) .. not cam work.

also, while I haven't heard anything directly from Mr. Trudeau, in a speech, about the current laws, I have read an article/interview saying that they were going to repeal the laws once they gained office. please note that this was an article written when the Libs were campaigning to get into office. I have some confidence that sooner or later, it will be struck down but I don't think it's a priority issue for Mr Trudeau and his government. I also think that the current Minister of Justice... a First Nations woman, will eventually do right and advocate for decriminalization

Ah, I see, thank you for letting me know. I really appreciate it!
