I'm thinking of buying a tablet, and like the idea of a 7-incher, since it is easy to stash, but still looks big enough to use as a reader and for viewing web pages.

I am also curious if anyone has tried using one on MFC. I got the Flash apk on my phone so the video is fine, but I never log in because I find it awkward to do much besides peeving. And yeah, I am only considering Android tablets. The newer Nexus 7 seems pretty good for the price.

I have an iPad mini and I like it quite a bit over the normal iPad. It's easier to hold and gives me more than enough space to see everything I want to. I go back and forth on whether I like the normal iPad or the mini for viewing things like Netflix; the mini is easier to hold which is nice if I am in bed for example, but the iPad obviously has more viewing space.

MFC on iOS is unusable for the most part unless all you care about is chat.

Thanks.

There are some.alternative browsers that supposedly allow users to play Flash content on iOS devices. Like Photon, Skyfire or iSwifter. Do those not work for MFC?

I have a Kindle Fire HD and like it immensely. Price was right, and it's been absolutely trouble free. Great as an e-reader and as a web browser -- although lack of flash is a bit of a pain. Odd that the earlier version (Kindle Fire) supported flash but the HD doesn't. They seem to be heading back in that direction with updates. I can at least now open an MFC room with the Silk browser but the video is jerky at best. But for most web use, it's great -- including a read view that really comes in handy. I have Amazon Prime, and it's terrific for watch TV programs and movies.

I have a hisense zero pro 7 inch tablet. Walmart exclusive, $119.00. I can do Mfc just fine on it. I had to search for a certain older copy of Dolphin browser and flash that still worked together. Then install those myself since flash is gone now. But once installed I've been letting dolphin update to newer versions with no problem.

As for other stuff, I've been using this thing for everything. Radio all night, alarm clock, reading books. I have 4 different browsers installed, email, calendar, google voice for phone calling (it does not have cell phone, I use WiFi for calling people), boxer for most of my quick messages or walkie talkie calling, Twitter, it also handles 100mb PDF textbooks easily. It has HDMI out so I've plugged it into a 52" TV to watch movies. The largest video file I played on it so far was a 12gb movie (HD version of Total Recall) and it played without a glitch. It also has Bluetooth and NFC (near field communication). Basically just look at the google nexus specs, this is better for less money.

So far it's been great and handling everything I toss at it.

Just a note, Chrome for this one does NOT work with Mfc. I use Dolphin pretty much exclusively for my perving on this tablet. But it works with all features of the site.

I'll have to give Dolphin a try with my Kindle.

I've only tried Safari and Chrome.

samsung galaxytab 2 here. love the thing, but yeah mfc sucks on most tablets. i use the puffin browser and it does ok with flash, but with a 7 incher the viewing size is just to small to really make mfc any fun. though if youre there to chat its just fine
If you're just perving and not chatting, remember you can still make the video full screen. So then it isn't too bad for that.

Just do a search for Kindle Fire HD and flash and you should find a quick tutorial on how to get it to work. I have a Kindle Fire HD and use the Dolphin browser for MFC and it works fine.

To the OP, if you are a serious reader and read a lot I will never suggest a tablet for reading. Kindle or Sony reader with the e-ink technology is still the best for reading, in my opinion. That being said, you can definitely read on a tablet but I find it causes me some eye strain.

E-inks are quite good for books and very easy on the eyes. Not to mentions much better battery life. But if you are into reading magazines or comic books (PDF files in nature) they have serious limitations. Their processors just can't handle pdf files of even a couple megabytes with any reasonable speed. If you get into 20mb or above they are just lost. So keep that in mind.

To just me, have you tried Cool Reader? The 'vellum' like background does seem to make it less harsh on the eyes. I've read quite a few books with that reader. And of course it does have other backgrounds that you may like better, but the default one isn't bad.

This exactly. I bought Maggy one as an early birthday present last week and she loves it. We have Prime so it works well with that and streams the videos flawlessly. We got the 7" because it is easy to hold with one hand and she uses it as her reader quite often. She also said to say that she is happy because now her smut can go with her. (no joke either. my wife rocks)

I have a 10 inch Samsung Galaxy Note, and it is awesome. I got the 10 incher because I wanted to be able to use it to draw, but I can't imagine that the 7 inch Note would be any less awesome. Love the S-Pen, and I am digging Android. It would at least be worth looking at when doing your research, I think.

So most don't handle flash? What about Youtube, as that does HTML 5 doesn't it (meaning flash isn't necessary).

Anyone even looked at the Microsoft Surface RT? Seems similarly priced to an iPad mini, but with advantage that you can do more than one thing at once.
I'm also looking at Tablets, just reticent to spend money on a one trick pony (i.e. can only read your email, or view youtube, or talk on skype at any one time - and not both watch movies and chat on skype with another window sized to see x,y,z (where x, y, z is whatever you want it to be).

Guess I'm looking for a minuscule laptop really, with a minuscule price, able to do most of what I use my laptop for (as in watching youtube, browsing internet, facebook, chatting on yahoo/skype, commenting on things, perving on MFC) without too much of a compromise on being able to do some but not all.

Tablets seem to be there, but then... not.

Current Android devices don't *officially* support Flash, nor is it any longer available from Google Play. You can, however, still install Flash, on Android devices, including those running 4.3, and it will work with some browsers, like Firefox. It will not work with Chrome. There are also browsers available that come with Flash built-in.

The APK for Flash is available through links on reputable sites like XDA-Developers.

Or just pm me if you want it. I have the version of Dolphin browser and flash together in a drop box folder that work together and allow for the updates on the browser to work.

I have tried it and it does make it easier to read but in the end I think it is the back lighting that makes it harder on my eyes. Reflected vs projected light.
