Hi everyone,
I'm posting on behalf of a content creator who needs some guidance. Here's the situation:
The model worked for a studio for nearly two years and built an impressive following of over 125,000 on a streaming platform. Three months ago, she left studio employment and transitioned to working independently under a new name, still streaming on the same platform.
Her old account with the studio remains active, including her identification documents, as the platform keeps accounts in case creators return after a hiatus. Recently, the studio seemed to consider adding another model to her old account, presenting it as a dual-person stream or potentially trying to bypass verification entirely. This would let them leverage her established following under the guise that she was on vacation rather than having left.
To address this, she informed the platform via text that she no longer uses the account and clarified that anyone active on the account would not be her. The platform assured her that no one else is currently on the account.
However, the model is concerned that there could be negative repercussions from the studio for disrupting their plans. She plans to notify the platform tomorrow to request the account's deactivation, but she also hopes to avoid undue harm or responsibility if the studio retaliates or blames her for preventing their use of the account.
She wonders if there's a way to hold the platform accountable for investigating and deciding to deactivate the account so that the studio can't unfairly pin the blame on her. Does anyone here have advice or experience with similar situations? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
