Am I the only one who actually finds dark themes hard as hell to read

When it's like Fetlife, with its black background and white text, or, even worse, a colored text on black, yeah, it's a little hard to read. It's just too contrast-y. The sort of medium-dark gray on the forum is nice on my eyes, but I can see where it could be a problem to someone whose eyes are different.

I agree with you. Just switched to the dark theme for a comparison and found it difficult to read.

I prefer a dark theme, but like the 'lighter colors'. In other words, I wouldn't want this place looking like one of those dungeon forums, haha. That said, a dark theme would be healthier/better on the eyes and probably easier to navigate.

It's a personal preference though.

So the poll is currently exactly even between dark and light. Could you alternate dark and light themes maybe change 30 times a second to make everybody happy? It would definitely make ACF more flashy.

There is new software we need to update the forum to very soon, which also needs to include a slightly different look as the current theme is not available on version 2. Making a dark AND light theme is probably not on the table, at least not for a while.

I've already got some stuff worked out, but want your feedback on this, so please answer the poll and add comments if you want to share your thoughts.

Exciting stuff! Change is always a bit of an adjustment, but I’m sure whatever you’ve got planned will keep the forum looking great. A fresh look can be a good thing! Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. Thanks for all the work you put into this!
