I've just decided that my life goal is to one day have my very own gaming museum.

Imagine, if you will, a room. In the centre of that room is a chair, a chair that swivels 360 degrees on its axis. You enter the room and sit in that chair. In the corner of the room you see a 1980s television set on a TV stand that looks to be from the same era, pushed against the wall. Above the television set, affixed to the wall, is a sweet Purple Rain poster. Underneath the television set sits an Atari 2600, a NES, and a Sega Master System.

You turn in the chair to your right. Suddenly the view has changed. You're now looking straight ahead at an early 90s television set atop a similarly aged TV set. A Nirvana poster hangs above it, and sat beneath it are a SNES and a Mega Drive.

Barely able to contain your excitement, you swivel further to the right and glance upon an early widescreen television set beneath a Smashing Pumpkins poster. You gaze down to see a Playstation, a Saturn, an N64... You spin 'round further. You see a PS2, a Dreamcast, an X-Box and a GameCube connected to another televsion set. A PS3, a 360 and a Wii are on the other side of the room, connected to a 32" HD TV. And hey, there's a PS4, X-Box One and Wii U over there, all hooked up to a giant 3D TV.

As of this moment, ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at a room in my house that I am yet to own, a room that will hopefully one day be mine. My new goal in life, is to make this room a reality while I'm still immature enough to enjoy it.

But, for the purposes of this thread, I need to source games for these consoles and due to budgetary restraints/the self-imposed rules of this thread, I can only have three games for each console.

I have the games in mind for my own gaming museum, but which games (and consoles) would you include in yours? (and for bonus, optional funsies, which posters would you hang above your consoles to represent that console's respective era?).

Have you ever looked into MAME or Hyperspin arcades?
Very cool stuff. Basically you can build your own arcade box or cannibalize an old arcade game. Put in your own PC parts and monitor and have pretty much every arcade ever made on one machine. Buy some arcade joysticks and buttons for that authentic gaming experience, even including pinball gaming.

This guy has a whole series of videos where he shows you everything to build one. Hardware to software, including step by step for setting up the emulators in Hyperspin.

I have not. It does look very cool though.
