Why is the default spending limit on Streamate so high?

Lol it's not high enough IMHO. I'm pretty sure it's $250 for new accounts. But the beauty of Streamate is you can set your spending limit to whatever you want so you have better control of your $$$. If you're real big spender and your account will eventually be upgraded to raise you limit.

The reason $250 is to help against fraudulent transactions.

Really? I was guessing that it was because they expect members to spend thousands of dollors a year on the site.

Ive read that its $225!
I'm somewhat dense at times. I'm not clear on this. Are you being sarcastic and you think it's too low? Can that be spent in one day?... or what is the time frame on this? I would think that spending $225 or $250 at a clip on video chat is kind of a nice, enviable position to be in... I couldn't do it. Otherwise, a high spending limit should be considered a good thing.

I think @Guy is misunderstanding the spending limit as a MINIMUM not a MAXIMUM.

A spending limit means the system will not let you spend MORE than that, to protect you from over doing it.

I was thinking that if they want to prevent members from overspending, It would not make sense for them to allow that much to be spent by a member every day.

They should allow them to spend whatever they want.. Guys drop crazy bombs on girls on MFC.. SM should be the same exact way. If a member has the money and can verify it they should be able to spend it.

It's not their responsibility to police what members spend and when.
If a member can't afford to spend $250 every day they should possess the self control required to not do that on their own. The limit is more to deter fraud/chargebacks than anything else.

I was wrong, nm

The default used to be $300 a long time ago. Anyways the live support can increase it to whatever you like. You can remove it completely if you reach a certain rank. I leave it mostly because there's no chat timers and since I roleplay I don't lose track of time. It's also there so they don't have someone make an account with a fake card and run up a massive bill only to get it charged back.

You almost HAVE TO increase the limit to access some girl's block rates.

I think Guy is saying that the default limit is high compared to MFC. On a new account I think the limit is $40, 2 lots of 200 tokens, per day, or at least it was back when my account was new. This is a lot lower than streamate. MFC only care about fraud they don't give a crap if a member overspends.

People on camsites are all adults, its not the camsites job to police what a member spends. People need to take personal responsibility for their shit instead of blaming someone else if they have spent too much.

Seems fairly moderate/ average to me; this is an expensive game to play, a higher default limit actually seems more responsible.

The limit doesn't mean that you have to spend that amount/ add that amount before spending on the site. As I understand it, unlike MFC, you are not adding tokens/ credit prior to your spend, you are only promising that amount before the spend.
You will need a somewhat higher limit until the transaction is cleared so that customers have time to spend freely. [Around 40 minutes of private time (MFC equivalent) and then your transaction must clear: It isn't so much spending.]

As others have said, the reason for limits is to protect the site, not the user. All sites start with a limit, some drop them or let you increase them as you become a more trusted customer. A high limit is a sign of trust.

I believe that they can reduce it as well, if a person feels the need to do so.

Can MFC do that too?
I've heard from members who have done it on MFC, yes. But only once their limit has been raised. MFC would be stupid to lower the original spending limit. I mean, they WANT people to spend money, after all.

MFC raises your ability to buy larger packages, and to store more tokens as you become a more reliable customer (measured in reward points/ tokens spent).
For example my default is 'currently limited to purchasing 46650 tokens per day, and to a maximum of 466500 tokens that can be stored.' I think this occurs after spending 1000 tokens, but it was a while ago so I forget. I believe you can ask for that to be raised.
When I joined it started at 200 tokens ($20) a day and rose quickly to the current level.

Streamate is playing a slightly different financial game, you can spend up to the limit, then you must pay your bill. If the customer doesn't pay, then the site loses up to $225 that the customer spent, before they cancel your account.
With MFC you are billed for your tokens and then spend them at your leisure. If the customer doesn't pay, then the site loses the value of those unpaid for token purchases ($20 - $4665 for a platinum member), before they cancel your account.

Streamate is accepting more risk so their limit is generally lower to protect themselves.
