I disagree a decent USB microphone will cost around $60 and unless camming is some last resort to put food on the table it should be affordable to most people.
They could work a regular job until they could save up enough money buy the equipment somehow. After all they where able to afford a computer to get online without anyone tipping and that should be a bigger expense. I think having decent equipment is the second most important thing after having done research about camming before going online the first time. If a model wants to be treated a professional treating the job as a profession should be requisite, after all who would hire a carpenter that showed up asking for money to buy tools?
Or you could tip them as the entire point of camming is to make money not spend 1000s on equipment and get nothing. I bought a brand new computer and paid it off in a week because my stream was much better. Because people took me private and tipped. Because they recognize my time is worth money because it is a job.
If you think its a job and a profession you should be paying for their time. You wouldn't go into a restaurant and demand free high quality food because others pay for it and "you think its something they should have"
My husband is a trades person and he had to work to obtain money to purchase good tools. A cam model would do the same. Work (get tipped by people) and then buy better equipment.
