What software do people typically use to enhance their software, since OBS isn't compatible with Streamate?

I'm surprised to see Streamate as not an option for OBS streaming.

Hello, redsilk! OBS does work on Streamate- when in SMConnect, go to your Settings > Stream Settings > Encoder. From there, choose "External Encoder" from the dropdown list and enter the details requested. If you encounter any issues whilst doing this, please send an email through to smsupport@streamate.com.

Do you guys prefer streaming with the external encoder or the web encoder? I think I saw a place where it stated that placement involves using the web encoder.
