Hello all! I'm Amy and I've been camming for about half of a year now. I am doing very well with it but yesterday something weird happened.

During my show, a gentleman came into my room and told me he'd like to spoil me for a couple of private shows. He told me his life story and how he was homeless for a while and now has money and likes sharing it with girls in debt etc etc. He insisted on getting another way of contacting me so I gave him my cam email (i NEVER message anyone on any app) and he sent me his proposition.

Long story short, he proposed that i skype with him to work out the details, but basically, for $10,000 per month he wants 2-4 skype sessions where i show off my body and follow his lead, whatever that means. He even wanted to give me a payment for our first skype session where we simply come to an agreement on terms. Is he just trying to lure me onto skype?

I've heard about skype possibly leaking your personal info or IP and suggested other ways and he is insisting it's fine and he just wants to help people out but like.... that's waaay too good to be true. Has anyone else ever gotten a request like that? I mean i'm cute and people can be nice, but damn.

I've dug into his twitter and noticed a few things. First, almost all of the girls he follows have under 5000 followers, typically around 300. Only about half of the girls he follows are active on there, and half haven't posted for MONTHS. Does he keep his end of the deal and pay, and that's why they haven't needed to work, or has he blackmailed them in some way? Is he targeting newer cam girls that he thinks are desperate for money? Am i looking into this too much?

Anyway, sorry this is so long! I have a feeling this kind of thing is pretty common. Is it a scam? Is it real? Help!

If he wants you to show yourself on Skype first, only do it if he pays XX amount upfront for that specific time - I honestly think $10,000 for 2 - 4 per month is a heck of a lot, no matter how amazing your personality is and your body, $2,500 for one session seems a huge amount. If it somehow is real, then what is he expecting exactly for that amount? It can't or won't (I very much doubt) be something simple and vanilla...

All in all, make sure you get a certain amount up front for the first time you skype with him. If he has that kind of money for so few shows then him giving you a few hundred up front to prove he is legit, should be no problem for him.

I’ve been here. When I first started, a guy messaged me offering I think it was $2,000 a month for 8 Skype sessions so $250 a show. His story was that he was a trust fund baby and loved to spoil cam girls with his money. The catch was that he would ONLY pay after I’ve done my 8 shows for the month and it was always at some random ass time. After my 4th show, I told him I was concerned it was a scam and if he could just send what I had already earned and that ended with a passive aggressive no. After that, I blocked him. Just like everyone else said, if he’s not paying upfront, it’s a scam.
Also avoid the western union sugar daddy scam!

It's almost certainly a scam, but you could always make some incredibly reasonable counter offers and see how many excuses he will drop trying to get you to do it his way.

For starters, let him know that you prefer to have at least one play session on your cam site before you move to another platform (Skype). That way, either of you can end the show at any time if it turns out you aren't compatible. Totally reasonable, right? I bet the dude has no fewer than 6 different reasons why he can't/won't do a show on the cam site.

Second step would be to ask him to take a month to do Skype shows using the standard model (he pays for a single show, then you do the show). This is very reasonable, since he will almost certainly spend far less than $10k. Insist that he use a legitimate adult payment method (MFC, CamModelDirectory, LiveCamModelShows, IndieBill, etc.) and always pays before the show. This is standard procedure. What are his excuses this time? Do they include "But I want to pay you 10 times more than typical Skype show rates! Why won't you let me spoil you, you stupid cow?!" or "But I want you to have 100% of the money, not 75-85%. Don't you want all the money? Why do you scoff at my generosity, bitch?"

If a guy "just wants to help people" but insists that you trust him completely and eschew industry standards and best practices, and it's his way or the highway, something is wrong.

This is a pretty common scam. Usually, they get you onto Skype (with the promise of payment after, or prior payment via unreliable means [giftcards, paypal, etc, something they can either get a refund for after the fact, or something where there's a delay in between sending and receiving that they can explain away and provide false proof of]), they work out their "terms" and then convince/manipulate you into doing a show right then. That's why they offer so much money, to try to get your walls down so you're eager to please them and reap the rewards.
I would be *shocked* if he were anything but a scammer.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
I've also heard and been warned that you can have your IP traced via Skype.
Plus, skype doesn't allowed nudity anymore.

I would stay on your camming site. Especially if you're on MFC. If he's willing to spend the cash on you, he would be willing to do so where it would benefit you. Receiving that kind of money on a site like MFC will boost you way up and benefit you a lot. If he really wants to help, he'd be willing to do things your way.

I also would listen to the people here, never do anything until you have cash on hand. Another reason to stay on your cam site.

Also @notyou87 is right on the ball. A lot of people who are willing to pay premium and want you to move off site, want something that can't be done on site.

100% sure this is a scam for multiple reasons, but the unreasonable economics alone make clear he is appealing to greed but proposing an economic framework that simply is not a realistic going rate for the service. He could have his pick of many very beautiful women for under $200/hour, so assuming four sessions at three hours each, his proposed payment rate of $833 per hour is the definition of "too good to be true".

The more I use these systems, the more amazed I am at how incredibly stupid most of these scammers are. They are rarely the best or brightest people. In fact, many of them are immediately identifiable because of their extremely poor education levels: bad spelling, poor thought processes, and illogical proposals.

* If he cannot spell, it is probably a scam.

* If he wants you to do anything for free up front, it is probably a scam

* If he has life circumstances that sounds bizarre (e.g., "I was homeless but now I am rich"), it is probably a scam

* If he wants to pay you more than a going rate, it is probably a scam.

* If he refuses to use the webcam site for a first private chat, it is probably a scam.

Regarding his request for e-mail, be aware that many web e-mail systems leak your IP address. Yahoo and Hotmail certainly used to leak. Google Gmail in a web browser does not leak, but Gmail through your own mail client or on a mobile device used to leak. I keep pointing out to webcam models that Protonmail is really the goto web e-mail service for security and privacy. They have built their whole platform on privacy. I would think about using that as your business contact e-mail.

Once you realize someone is a scammer, I do not think it makes sense to try to counter offer because he will just refine the scam. But I suppose you could come back with something like "If you spend a minimum of $3,000 USD per month on me in private chats at a rate of 60 tokens/hour on <CB | MFC> for at least six months, we can in six months discuss going off site."

I was new, and REALLY excited to hear someone thought I was worth such money. He said he helped about a dozen models on MFC and said he had a "reputation" on there if I wanted to talk to someone for evidence. Once I gave him my skype, he gave me a sob story about how his wife & parents were dead and he had a son and he was lonely and ugly and yada yada. Then he started asking for things and getting snotty because I told him until we set up shows & I received money, I wasn't sending him any services.
He threatened to doxx me, e-mailed me like 3 times before I blocked him, and that was the end of that creep. Losers man, have nothing better to do with their time.

I had a dude that did this exact thing when I first started. Like, beat for beat the same.

As a general rule, if it seems too good to be true. It is. Hold firm on wanting to get payment up front and he'll probably fuck off.

However you choose to proceed with this guy: Just please don't give out your skype name to anyone without using a VPN. Payment or no, scammer or no. It could be something worse than a scam - someone dangerous trying to get your skype so that they can get your IP address so that they can get your home address.
