So i am curious.
I see this quite often where a user will tip for an item from the tip menu (let's say on Stripchat, for example), but they haven't CLICKED the item and tipped through the menu, so it doesn't come up as "Tip Menu: ITEM NAME".
Instead it just says "User tipped XX tokens".
Do you recognise the fact it's X amount which is the same as something on your menu and then you ask them if that's what they wanted and then you perform it if so?
Or do you just say thanks (or not) and then if they bring up the fact "I tipped for XX off the menu", how do you then go about that? Do you do it or do you say "Sorry but you need to use the menu and tip for it", so then they have to tip the same amount again, but using the menu specifically? Maybe it depends on what the tip amount is or what the number is (if it's a common tip or not - IE. 5, 10, 25, 50, so you ignore those, but if it's a random weird number like 17 or 27 you take notice and tink/realise maybe they are wanting from the menu but didn't use it).
I see different models handling this different ways, I am just curious what everyone's opinion is. Can it depend on how nice/rude the user is (or has been)? How new they are to the site? is there any factors you consider when this happens?
Users: how do you handle this too if you have done this, do you get annoyed or do you hold your hands up and take it as a learning curve, and future you need to use the actual menu?
