Hey guys, would a USB splitter/switch allow me to use two webcams on my laptop. Thought it might work for two camera angles. I could switch from one to the other. Thanks!
you just need to plug the 2 camera's into any 2 usb ports that carry data, so 2 usb ports directly on the pc / laptop or a hub (as long as the hub ports carry a data signal, most do, some are power only). then in obs you just select each camera as its own video input.Hey guys, would a USB splitter/switch allow me to use two webcams on my laptop. the cb broadcaster app will only allow for a single device to be used, each device will be assigned it's own ID by the system, otherwise the system wouldnt be able to tell the difference between them, that ID is also what gets used to tell cb which camera was selected. The web broadcaster really isnt designed for that kind of set up, you would need to set up 2 scenes in something like obs and then use the virtual camera as the camra input on cb's web broadcaster and then you would use obs to switch the image thats displayed, but tbh if you are going to the hastle of setting that up you may aswell just use obs to broadcast too. Thanks KingMarti, but I'm still using the CB broadcast app. I thought I could plug the splitter into the laptop and cams into the splitter and go back and forth. But I'm considering using an OSB with my newer Windows 10 laptop at some point.
A bit of pedantry on my part, it's not an OBS, it's just OBS. Cheers!Cool. I guess I need to play with an OBS on my newer laptop. Which one do you recommend?

I think that's the one I downloaded. Didn't check to see if it was compatible with windows 7. It isn't. Thanks, man!Open Broadcaster Software | OBS
OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is free and open source software for video recording and live streaming. Stream to Twitch, YouTube and many other providers or record your own videos with high quality H264 / AAC encoding.obsproject.com
I would recommend upgrading from windows 7, your product key should get you a free upgrade to 10 or 11. 7 hasn't been getting security updates for a while (unless your on an enterprise license then I think the security updates finish later this year, if you had paid for the extended support not 100% on that though).I think that's the one I downloaded. I agree with Marti you should be on one of the more recent Windows versions by now. 7 came out like 15 years ago and discontinued 10 years ago.compatible with windows 7.
Damn now I feel old, need to get a lawn so I can yell at kids to get off it7 came out like 15 years ago and discontinued 10 years ago.
One thing to keep in mind, closing the browser dosnt end the stream, you need to click stop broadcast in obs.I played with OBS on my Windows 10 laptop last night and apparently got it to work fairly easily. Apparently I was online and didn't realize it for a few minutes. Must have been interesting for whoever was viewing. I have to detach the video window and overlay it on my CB page. I think I know how after doing some reading. Stayed around 30 fps and said I had a good bitrate. I'll play with it some more.
and now Windows 11 is comingBeen using OBS with the windows 10 laptop and getting used to it. Getting consistent 29+ FPS in HD and great bitrate. Much better than the old laptop. Thanks for all rhe help. OBS was pretty easy to set up.
