Hello you beautiful perverts! I've been reading through the noob forums and camming wiki and have some solid ideas on what I need to do and where I want to start. A quick summary of where I am; I'm going to start on Chaturbate, I need to pick a stage name and set up an account on Twitter and email account that is linked to this name, I need a PO Box so that I can send and receive things while protecting my identity, I probably also need to have some still shots to promote my site. My questions are as follows:

Should I have all of theses things in place and ready to roll out at the same time, or should I do this as a progression?

As far as stage names go, I don't really know what people generally use. Do people choose a first and last name? Should it be similar to porn names? Should it be somewhat close to your real name or completely dissimilar?

Any advice would be welcome

Your username can be literally whatever you want - format is whatever you prefer. You may want something easy for people to remember/spell. (too many numbers or special characters might make you hard to look up)

You also do NOT need a PO box - or to accept gifts/fanmail at all. In fact, as a new model you should probably focus on earning tokens. On a lot of other sites (**** though I don't think this applies to Chaturbate***) earnings affect placement.
I'm sure you already read how easy it is for someone to order you a gift and then cancel it.

Just my two cents. Good luck out there!

i recommend picking a name that is memorable. maybe alliteration, niche-related, or pop culture references. i see you have an umbrella corp mask, maybe a nerdy pop culture name would be good for you? as someone with a nerdy name, i get a lot of people wanting to enter my room just so they can say "feed me seymour." it's kinda like adding a little more bait instead of just depending on your sexy profile photo or the screen capture preview to get clicks into your room.

also nerd names are totally niche-related. a lot of my audience are people who enjoy nerd culture, and it's something we can relate and connect with.

if you do choose a name that is copyrighted, totes recommend changing the spelling of the name to avoid getting a cease and desist.

oh and i too recommend not worrying about getting a po box for gifts and whatnot. if someone absolutely wants to send you a gift, request an amazon gift card. not to ever use it as a payment method. i have a private wishlist i send a screenshot to someone if they want to get something special for me, but send me amazon gift card for me to purchase. there have been times where models have been doxxed because of their amazon wishlists. something to keep in mind.

I got mine from Batman, It also got bonus points for sounding like a pornstar name. I noticed that having a first and last name as a stage name is becoming less common and I'm sort of in the minority now.

Punny drag-style names are also always fun.

Don't use anything with anything like sweet, peach, princess, or cherry though because A LOT of girls use them in their stage names and it runs the risk of people getting confused and not remembering which one is you.

You can (sort of) circumvent this by only putting items on your wishlist that say "shipped by amazon" on them and to go into the wishlsit setting and uncheck the "thirdy part agreement" box that allows your shipping address to be shared with third party vendors. This keeps your full address safe from anyone trying to contact third party vendors to dox you because the only things you'll be getting will be shipped from amazon warehouses, but the wishlist will show your city and state so it's not 100% safe/private. Your method sounds pretty solid though, it all just depends on your comfort level.

even then i dont trust this. amazon's customer support has also unintentionally doxxed a model in the past to a buyer.

Thank you @thinkinboutit @AudriTwo @TokenGesture @Smoothie @GraysonDrake for responding! I can't seem to give you guys thumbs up, but I really appreciate your feedback. I'm definitely a geek so a punny geeky reference for my name is right up my alley. As far as the PO Box thing goes, I should mention that I planned on making some baked goods and then sending them to the highest tipper/tippers and doing promotional things like that. I never really got a response to my first question. If anyone would care to weigh in, I was also asking in reference to a Twitter presence and photos;
Should I have all of theses things in place and ready to roll out at the same time, or should I do this as a progression?

Just don't put a return address then I guess? You don't really need a PO box if you're mostly doing outgoing mail so it really just depends on what you're using it for and how comfy you are with your general area being known to your fanbase. In any case I wouldn't bother to spend the money on setting one up until you actually need it.

It doesn't hurt to have some pics and promo stuff all ready to go at once, but if it's the only thing keeping you from starting then go ahead and just start and add them later because they're not as critical as the rest of your setup. Having some cute lewds and nudes prepared isn't a half bad idea though.

Don't worry too much about building up a twitter presence, it's not terribly important to growing your stream or making more money. Having a twitter is only important on CB if you want people to be able to contact you outside of cam shows since there's no friend lists and DMs disappear as soon as that person leaves chat and you close or refresh the window, but you don't really need anything fancy. I usually tweet when I go online and use twitter mostly for keeping my peeps updated on my camming schedule and what I'm up to, as well as networking with other SWs.

Other people might use twitter differently than I do and may have tips for using it as a more consistent promotional tool though. I could probably stand to improve my twitter skills but it's just not a priority for me at the moment.

@BuxomBomb I really wouldn't worry too much about social media at first, as when you're a new model you get promoted anyway and that's how you'll build your following at first. Social media is a good thing to do, but it can wait a few weeks, or even months. I started off trying to do everything at once and my head felt like it was about to explode.

I think the most important thing to do is just to get online and get a feel for camming, your style, what you enjoy doing and don't enjoy doing, build up a little fan base with some regs and a steadyish income and then start thinking about social media etc. It's a lot to take in at first, so just take it one step at a time, there's no need to stress yourself out even more.

Also not sure if anyone mentioned but be sure to make the most of your new model status!

Good luck!

THISSS. Chaturbate's new model boost lasts a week starting from the time you get verified, so make sure to time it for when you're actually ready to start. I didn't realize this and wasted most of my new model boost, it suuucked.

Pick a good name and just get on. That's the hardest part- actually clicking stream for the first time. Everything else can be figured out later and it takes adjusting as you go. Not everyone is cut out for camming and you want to make sure you enjoy it and what you love doing on cam before you spend all the time and money setting up all the other things like social media and content.

@ElektraDivine @GraysonDrake does the model boost week start right when you sign up, or when you do your first show or what? I want to make sure I time it for when I'm ready to roll.

Do this as a progression, some times it's a little frustrating when you not receive tips or don't have too many viewers in your room.
You also do NOT need a PO box - or to accept gifts/fanmail at all. In fact, as a new model you should probably focus on earning tokens.

That's right, focus on tokens and followers. The twitter a account its a good a idea, you can get promoted by some sites for free, but it helps more on sites like OF to get subs in that way.

@BuxomBomb I’m not on CB so don’t know for sure but would imagine it’s from your first stream as would be unfair to start it as and when they approve you.
I'm pretty sure it starts the second you get verification approved from what I understand.

@ElektraDivine @Jenna K Thanks so much for the feedback.
@GraysonDrake I think you're right, I've been looking at the sign up process and it does seem like that promo week starts when you get verified so I need to be ready to roll when that happens and take full advantage of that.
Thanks all! I really appreciate the help! 💕
