THE EARN IT ACT

Interesting! although I'm not in the US we have the same discussion here in Europe. "Security" is the ancient call of the oppressor.
To protect our children we should send them all to the Catholic church! .... oh, wait!
Can someone explain to me why all those "Acts" do need a catchy name in the USA? What do they mean by "EARN IT Act"? That you have to EARN your freedom? EARN what? I don't get it. Does "IT" mean information technology? I suspect that these names are used as a substitute for content, so that you can say I'm for/against the xx act without having to think about it.
Anyway, I'm amazed how out of touch many of these politicians are. It is not news that criminal intent will always be more creative than legislative and law enforcement. In the case of online exploitation of children (as mentioned in the 1st video) the only way to protect the children is through education and boosting their self esteem through creativity. Make them strong against attacks.
Edit: Generally I think that the more technical convenience you have the less privacy there is. Add to that that current laws can change in a heartbeat. We loose control of any content we choose to share online. The only real protection we have is our mind.

Unregulated markets simply cannot exist. Why tech and adult, or to put in another way, adult who fancy itself as tech but is indeed adult should be different? Businesses have absolutely 0 reasons to regulate themselves, therefore at the end somebody is going to do that for everybody. Why tech and adult should be different? Happens in every business. Also, if it were for me each adult content would be behind a "paywall".
