I know there are a million “I’ve been banned” threads, but I’m really baffled by what happened here because I called Streamate and asked them what to do and followed their instructions.

I’m a customer not a model. I had stopped getting billing statements from my sessions emailed to me. I called Streamate and asked them why.

The customer service woman told me that Yahoo had blocked their emails but if I switch my account to Gmail or something else, I would start getting the billing statements again.

I told her that was fine and she switched the account over to my Gmail account. When I logged in with my Gmail account, none of my information was there. I had lost my favorites, messages, spending limit (which was rather high) etc. I called back and got a different customer service rep who told me she’d transfer everything over to the account with Gmail.

So she did that. Some things got transferred and some didn’t. Ok. Whatever.

I did a show with a model, which was great. I spent a decent amount of money on the model, who did a relatively vanilla (but still hot) stocking tease for me. I don’t think there was anything in that show that would be flagged. Enjoyed it.

Logged in a few days later and my account didn’t work. I called Streamate and they told me “You’ve been permanently banned because you are security risk.” I asked her what that meant or if she could explain what I did. She just said, “it means you have to find a different site” and immediately hung up.
I called back the next day and got a guy who was even more terse and just said “you don’t need to worry about the why.” And immediately hung up.

I’m guessing something in the transfer of accounts led to the ban. But I was on the phone with them. I followed their instructions. That’s what I don’t understand here.
No one said to me switching emails will get you banned or transferring the data violates our rules.
Really not sure what happened here. Does anyone have any ideas about what I did?

  • Sorry to hear that.

None of us were there for your show. Maybe you said something that you didn't think was a big deal, but that was actually against rules. Or maybe somehow all these changes made them think you are doing some kind of financial fraud, or hacking someone else's account. Idk. None of us would know the answer to that, only they would.

I would say that many members DM me, or in live shows, break the rules all of the time, because noone reads the tos. So for someone to break the rules, but not be aware of it is really common and frustrating. As models it puts our accounts at risk, when guys ask us stuff against the rules and we don't report them. But I really don't know. No one here could know.

tbf if you were a security risk, they wouldn't tell you how. you might learn not to get caught if you go around their ban.

I just don’t like being treated like a criminal when I called. Whatever I did it was because of a stupid mistake not because I’m some kind of criminal genius.

I think it had something to do with them messing with my account. If I said something stupid to the model (who I’ve been doing sessions with for 4 years) I don’t know that I’d be deemed a “security risk”

I was throwing it out here to see if maybe someone could point out what I did. But you’re right. We will truly never know what I did. And that’s frustrating.

Yeah they are terse, I get it. If you truly did nothing wrong, and have been a good customer for years, that is pretty frustrating and possibly hurtful. I'm not a huge fan of every support agent there myself. They have to deal with a lot of lying, manipulating, and time wasting, though. So I can see why some of them are pretty blunt and curt.

If you ever glance the forum here, and see all the stuff in the CB section, that ends up being BS, and lies, and manipulation. You'll see what they're dealing with there. I know I wouldn't particularly relish that as a job.

Anyways, I hope if it's related to some tech error, it gets resolved. And if it was their mistake, sorry for the whole situation you're going through.

I always remember people do not tend to contact customer service to say something nice, or without a problem to solve. So much goes on behind scenes genuine people who have never seen it just do not realise how manipulate some people are (and not just the occasional one or two). Also platforms, websites, have rules and regulations to adhere to lest the whole site closes. Many members to not read terms of service, many think 'rules are made to be broken' (I have had that said to me in free chat). I also know how frustrating it is when you are a genuine person with decent intentions. That said 'well intentioned' people can do the strangest, sometimes most dangerous things.

Just going back to the loss of messages, having to start again - when I last went live after a 6 week gap quite a few members I recognised didn't have my notes/spend record on their account. I wondered if they have changed something like you have, has there been some sort of reset, is it because I haven't streamed for so long. This wasn't however the case for all members I have previously encountered, some still had the record against their name.

sounds like a glitch. i have them disappear then come back when there are certain glitches at play. They should, hopefully, come back for you. There is nothing I'm aware of where if you don't stream for a while, anything clears. That should not be happening. If you don't stream for 2 or 3 months, you get a message saying your account will be unlisted if you don't stream within a short period. That's the only thing I'm aware of, though. The notes disappearing glitch infuriates me, so that I won't talk on further. It's stressful trying to do your job, when big things just stop working suddenly. All these sites have pretty frequent glitches, though, unfortunately. So it's not only SM.

Sometimes I wonder if freeloaders hanging out, using up server space, and not spending, make them worse?

ETA; If so, I'd happily kick them all off, and take any and all flack for it!

As a fellow user, I sympathise with Riddler.

It seems to me very unlikely that he has done anything wrong on SM.

I too was labelled a “security risk” when I tried to register on the site some months ago. And yes I too felt like a criminal even though, I never even got to go online.

Meanwhile I am a user on all the main sites, generous tipper and try to be respectful of rules and models. Never had a problem.

My suspicion is that they don’t like users with a VPN or a non Gmail address.

I will bet there are many other potential SM customers out there, who like me never got past the entrance lobby. A great shame for all the models who work so hard on SM that a huge potential audience is prevented from getting access to the platform.

You might be correct about using a VPN, but it is not a Gmail address. My member accounts are both from Gmail addresses, and I have no problems tipping there. I never use a VPN, though. I think I may have read that they don't look upon VPNs favorably. That might not be accurate; this was something I read a few years ago (on an informal industry chat site). Other models here might know if it is the VPN (that is the issue) more definitively.

ETA; Practically no models are exclusive to one cam site anymore. If you have models you liked, and you can't use SM, google them, find their socials, and buy services on another platform. Lots of models stream on SM and chaturbate/ myfreecams/ stripchat, or they have an onlyfans, or loyalfans account.

but it is not a Gmail address. My member accounts are both from Gmail addresses
he said non-gmail address btw

which I agree a VPN plus that could make an account look suspicious. (when we get them here at ACF I raise an eyebrow.)

it's probably the VPN. Streamate doesn't like members using them. had a user tell me he had to get his VPN approved, but i don't know how true that is.

which is pretty dumb nowadays. over a decade ago it was likely shady people would use it. but with pornography laws nowadays and more advertisements for them, its becoming a default program people use. there are routers with built-in vpns now.

I agree everyone uses VPN these days. It's kinda of mad if Streamate blocks users with a VPN. Not good for site traffic.
