I love Valentine's Day decorations (year round) so I stock up on cute heart stuff. Then I feel immense gratitude that I am single and have zero interest in seeking a monogamous romantic partner. I don't celebrate it whether I'm in a relationship or not. I have done a few times but it really doesn't bother me. An excuse for chocolate and flowers is nice for sure if someone wants to give them to me, but there doesn't need much excuse for looking after a romantic partner. The only times I cared were when I was single and it made me feel lonely and like something was wrong with me for not having love. Even when I was single by choice and didn't want a relationship. That's fucked up. It feels less like a holiday to celebrate love and more a holiday to sell stuff and make everyone who doesn't currently have love feel shit and lonely. To fuck am I celebrating that.
My boyfriend has picked up a tradition these past three years of buying me cheese. He has a sense of humour.

I noticed especially last year that a whole load of single women were doing big Valentines day dates with their friends, giving gifts and everything. More power to them if that's what they want to do, but something about it just makes me feel sad.

I've been single every Valentine's Day except for a couple of them. Even when I'm in a relationship, I don't make a huge deal over Valentine's Day and I prefer that my partner doesn't either. I like to drink, get together with single friends and eat dinner and/or watch funny movies on VD.
