I've finally reached the point where I noticed recordings of my public Chaturbate shows being hosted on other websites. Yes, I know, this is my fault because I didn’t uncheck the "Appear on Network Sites" option in my account settings beforehand. In my defense, I didn’t realize there would be over 80 websites hosting these recordings—I thought it would involve just a couple of sites showing preview photos.

So, I used the DMCA/Remove Content form and submitted all the links I could find (it’s possible I’ll discover more later and submit those as well).

I’d like to ask for help in advance from @punker barbie (I sent you a private message with my account name), as I understand the site’s support team is often overwhelmed.

As for the community, I’d kindly ask for your opinion on this situation. Being more experienced models, you’ve probably dealt with this yourselves. How legal and effective is such promotion? How feasible is it to have the materials removed, and how quickly can it be done?

Best regards!

Solution
Based on feedback and conversations with familiar models, one thing remains certain—being a model inevitably leads to massive content leaks. The only strategy for a beginner model in this situation is to avoid showing their face or only reveal it during private shows, where content recording tools have significantly less access.
I may be wrong, but I remember @Vixxen81 saying that even private shows are recorded and redistributed from CB?

If you really want to attempt the fight, you might look at services like branditscan, who will search the internet on your behalf and remove what they can.

In making this recommendation, however, i do want to draw your attention to this from their website. I have edited out the...
Disabling "appear on network sites" will only impact sites that depend on the CB API to pull the list of online models, there is nothing stopping them from scraping the site directly.

80? I don't think there's 80 hosting recordings, images maybe but full recordings seems unlikely.

Tagging and PMing punker barbie for DMCA is like yelling in a grocery store at the top of your lungs for a price check. Yes the process is slow and for some sites won't work at all but it's also something you can do yourself. Another option is to put in DMCA take down requests from Google which is easy and usually applies quickly: https://www.ambercutie.com/forums/threads/dmca-submitting-dmca-takedown-requests-to-google.53936/

That has nothing to do with recordings being hosted on web sites. All that means is that you show up on CB white label(affiliate) sites. Unchecking that lowers your viewers but that is up to you.

Those web sites that host your recordings are just pirate sites and nothing can stop them from hosting pirated content for now. CB will most likely get them to remove the "links" temporarily but they will show up again with new links. All they(sites) do is remove the "link" and repost the videos under a new link , never having removed the actual video file.

Usually just a few actual sites under a ton of different web site names so 1 video hosted could be linked from 10 to 15 sites who are owned by 1 person

Perhaps so! I can see that the same material is posted on the websites https://website_name.com/1, https://website_name.com/2, https://website_name.com/3, ..., and entering any number after https://website_name.com/ leads to an existing page with the same content. Clever move!

As for separately considering the pirates and the platform, I have some doubts. On most sites where the material is posted, it is mentioned that the model is a Chaturbate model. This mention is somewhat unclear if the author is a pirate but makes much more sense if the author is connected to the platform. This is because, after viewing the material, a person may be encouraged to visit the platform, increasing its traffic and revenue.

Of course, this is just speculation and not proof of anyone's guilt. Can such proof even be provided?

What does it mean when a website appears in search results when the model's name is Googled? Correct—it means the website contains the model's name. If the website were pirated, the stolen content would more likely feature a new name of a model rather than the name used on a competing platform. This would prevent driving traffic from the pirated platform back to the original one.

If it has recordings of your stream it's pirated. You think CB allows it's affiliates to post stolen recordings of your stream? They would end that affiliates account immediately (edit: ok maybe not immediately but eventually they will take action). Why would they use a different name? How do you think people are finding those sites to begin with? They are searching for the models name.

However, it is possible that the use of the original names is due to pirate websites expecting traffic from Chaturbate users searching for the model by name. In this case, it’s not the most logical move for pirate sites, as users would likely find it more convenient to watch the model directly on Chaturbate rather than switching to another site.

Given what is happening in the world on a more global level, it is naive to believe that any platform does not use dishonest methods to increase profits, including posting content on pirate websites. A more moderate approach would be to turn a blind eye to this, as, as shown above, it leads to an increase in traffic.

So in your mind people are only searching for a models username on Google while their online fully naked?

Also you believe that cam sites really want traffic from people looking to avoid tipping models by searching for recordings instead? They aren't affiliated, it's not hard to look for affiliate links back to Chaturbate.

First of all, I’m not claiming anything specific—presumption of innocence applies (if you’re not caught, you’re not guilty). I’m simply following common sense. As for the non-paying audience, one could agree, but considering that the ultimate goal of pirate sites is payment (likely not lower than on CB), it's hard to say for sure what the financial situation is for visitors of both types of sites, official and unofficial. After all, the profit from people who don’t want to pay may not be large in percentage terms, but not in absolute terms, and even on CB, there are plenty of freeloaders. This, too, is human nature. I can explain why, but that would go beyond the scope of the issue at hand.

Pirate sites typically either make money from ads (not the cam site), try to infect users with malware/adware, try to get them to pay for a service (and some of them take your card and use it for whatever they want).

This can happen, but these are usually outright scammers (and, thankfully, such sites don't last long). However, there are websites—this type is quite common—that sell content obtained through copyright infringement. Moreover, many of these types of sites don’t sell directly but instead allow their users to do so. The user uploads the content, sets the price, and trades with other users, while the site takes a commission from each transaction.

That isn't true

I don't know which site you're referring to but don't write it here

I personally have given up fighting, there are hundreds of recordings of me out there. I am going to get a custom made picture with my name on it, and hang it up behind me, so that those who might want to, can come and find me on an actual paid site. Free advertising, if you have to find a silver lining....

We were corrected by @rockin_rod that it's just grabbing the thumbnail off the private show landing page.

If one wishes, wait a beat before doing anything in private you don't want seen elsewhere because the thumbnail doesn't update until the show ends.

Thanks for bringing this up. :)

From what I understand, a big problem is that Chaturbate doesn't put their content behind a pay/password wall. Your broadcast just goes out to the internet for anyone to see. So anyone in the world can set up a bot to automatically record any broadcast - and they do. They organize it, even catalog the tags that you use. There is not much you can do except to be careful what you put in your profile, because that will be searchable. As for what to do? Well, don't show your face, but that lowers the quality of your shows. Private shows maybe, and expect a lonely cam experience. I just ignore the pirates, and definitely don't interact with them. They are pirating outfits, with all the virus/scams that come along with them. About the only protection a model has against being outed is safety in numbers, and the less attention you call to yourself the better. Curiously enough, it seems only Google searches can find my shows doing an image search.

That's a really valuable point – if we try to remove illegally distributed content, we should remove the page from the search results, not just the content from the page. Regarding advertising – it's true, pirate sites, surprisingly, engage in indirect advertising of models. Even without displaying the picture with the main website, a user can take a photo and find the main website using the screenshot. Perhaps many didn't notice, but there was once an effective image search for people in Google. However, Google started excluding people from its search results. Still, other search engines can still search for people by photos.

Streamate models can vouch for the difference between paywall and freemium.

Yeah, there are still a lot of freeloaders too, but not nearly as many. And they do tend to learn good, polite Member behavior really quickly, if they are serious about masturbating.

But, yeah, the sheer numbers of people aren't there. However there tends to be more serious, paying people.
It is very common for token site guys to come over, and feel like we are really rude, and have a bad time over there. The expectation there, is that there isn't a ton of sitting around chatting.

I'm a privates model though, I've never done token sites proper, or the way most of the rest of you do. So I can't really comment on that way of running stuff. Maybe a lot of these people who (from my perspective) hang out forever doing nothing, do eventually contribute, when you are offering a big group show at the end of a stream.
