Question From A Poor Camgirl!

i only just started camming, and i don't expect a fortune right off the bat obviously, but i'm also in a bit of an interesting financial situation. the apartment i live in is income-based and requires that at least one of the tenants have a job. i also still have to keep my lights and water on, because if either go out, we get evicted. low-income housing sucks, and i'm trying to get to an apartment with a fixed rate.

my question is: how do i let my audience know that i'm kinda hurting for cash without seeming like i'm begging/being greedy/being whiny/etc? totally open to hear from both models and viewers too! i know it's a bit of an odd question, but where i live, finding a "normal" job is super difficult and this is the most steady thing i have right now. thank you!!

I wouldn't let them know you're hurting for cash.

Focus on being entertaining and whatever gets you lots of tips and privates. They come to your chat room to be entertained and some for sexual release and possibly private sessions and they don't want to think of bills or money issues, even yours.

Maybe watch a few other cam hosts and see what style appeals to you, then develop your own.

It's not really important, they don't need to know. And it won't really do much for boosting your tips either. Just focus on the actual hustle and learning what works for you

It's better to not let them know that you need money. That kind of thing tends to attract the bad sort of members who specifically target new models, knowing that they'll have an easier time scamming or pressuring new girls into doing what they don't want to do. Some models can pull of the damsel in distress hustle really well, but they usually have direction from studios or experience already.

For others, it can be a downer when they're just trying to come online to watch some ladies and have fun.

A better strategy is to figure out what you need per week or month and set goals, countdowns, etc based off of that. If you have a goal of say, $1000 a month, that would only be $33-34 per day if you cammed every single day.

Clips can especially be good because then you can advertise them without it seeming like begging. Members on MFC usually seemed more inclined to tip for countdowns when a video they bought counted towards it too. Charge whatever you feel comfortable, but most seem to sell them for 200-500 tokens each. You can also put clips up on MFCShare so you might get some purchases while offline too.

MFC can be a really hard site to start on, so try not to get too discouraged if you don't meet goal everyday. There should be some other days to make up for it.

Just noticed that you're on MFC. This may just be my own personal opinion, but I would STRONGLY advise that you don't start on MFC. I would start somewhere like Chaturbate instead. MFC uses that whole camscore algorithm that punishes you for days where you don't make many tokens. It's super unforgiving, especially if you're just starting out. Sites like Chaturbate let you start fresh each time you log on.

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently struggling to a financial situation, I don't know how MFC works but you should try to work on multiple sites, like Chaturbate, and take advantage of the "new" tag. You can also sell clips, pictures, snaps...
I'm kind of new to the camming world too and at the moment I don't need that much money so I just do cam, but the majority of camgirls have several eggs in their basket.

Sorry to hear you are having money problems. I am quite new to camming but here are my two cents from the time I have spent online and reading on this forum + elsewhere:

1: If you have it in you, do 8+ hour shifts.
2: Be online when the US and Canada audience is active
3: Combine your camming with clip/photo/item sales on sites like manyvids, pornhub, clips4sale and more. If you have it in you upload a minimum of 2 clips/photsets a day.
4: Create a personal website for extra exposure and drive traffic to your profile on other sites. There are free hosting aternatives and wordpress makes it easy to build a simple but nice website.
5: Never give up

Every hustle is different and I see models who tweet a lot about their financial problems so I guess they must get something out of it? Stuff like “tip me so I can at least buy groceries today” I’ve seen from some models who are respected in the community. I personally don’t know if it’s legit or just part of their hustle.

In my case I have found that whenever I ask for help for something... for example... buying a better camera to cam with, I get a lot of people invested in learning the outcome who will come for months after asking “did you finally manage to get that camera you wanted?” but very little actual support. So my approach is to simply put the focus on them and give them things that will excite them like a great ticket show or good content so they spend on that and then keep the focus on my personal goals or stories for other moments when I have made my goal for the day and I have some time left for just being myself and building a stronger relationship with them without asking them for anything. If after a great show you comment how you saw a camera you loved and you don’t want to spend so much just yet but need to save a little and you are so excited to get it when you do, it sounds more legitimate and real and you don’t put pressure on them to pitch in. They will still come back to ask you if you finally bought it and the financial support will not come from the problem itself but from the fun things you have going.

An effective angle some studio models will pull is to talk to members about their problems 1 on 1. The member feels like he is special because she is confiding in them and I guess the damsel in distress can work if you appeal to their sense of chivalry individually. I haven’t tested this as I don’t do PM or 1 on 1 conversation with members. A word of caution though: these tend to be the same models who will then fool the guy into thinking they are in love and other shady tactics so I don’t know if I find this ethical or not. I guess it depends on the specifics and your intent

Nope nope nope, camming is all about fantasy and sexiness. I don’t find desperation sexy and I would think most guys would view it the same. They want the connection and to be turned on, pity tips/charity tips/white knight tips whatever you want to call it are rarely worth it and I think you’ll find you’ll turn people away more than help your cause. Try raffles for content, fun games etc. fake it til you make it. I try to ooze confidence even if I don’t feel it. Try a different time slot if your current one isn’t working. Camming is all about adapting to find your niche. Sell Snapchat, advertise custom videos for mfc share if you’re comfortable with that. When you start becoming more successful, remember to save as much as you can. In this industry, you don’t want to be desperate because that can make you feel you have to do things you don’t want to simply to pay bills.

Whiteknighters tend to get possessive because he feels like he's personally invested in your struggles. There's nothing wrong with saying your fridge broke for instance but to set a goal to replace it is a bit gauche. It's a one way street to a very limited subset of tippers.

We had many guys who have fallen for it here in the forum. I believe it can work financially if you're okay with the ethics. Your weapon will be pms and mfc is perfect for that.

On MFC, setting up a goal somewhere like MFCshare for something personal is pretty normal and done by many, not just studio models. Top models have goals for maternity leave or something they need a lil extra help with and in general, MFC members seem to enjoy it. MFC is probably one of the few cam sites where members are not just looking for sexiness and fantasy. The personal connections and sense of community is why MFC is the success that it is.

You can ask for help ethically. Offer deals in return and stay positive, there a whole feature on mfcshare for this time of thing.

If you do not have a good group of regulars already though, it’s probably pretty pointless.

It didn't take long for their generosity to wane, so if you do want to express your needs your gratitude should be evident and take care of any weeding out of blackmailers on the down low and if you do have to take immediate action give a simple explanation to the room. No airing of dirty laundry, just "he broke my rules."
