I could be way off in this observation, but I've noticed that January and February sees some big names pop up, throw down for a few weeks, and then disappear. I don't lurk 24/7, so maybe I miss Olivia when she's usually on, but I see her on so infrequently, I just figured she's become part-timer or moved on. I'm sure she has her supporters. If we've seen proof of anything lately, it's that fans are weird, and being problematic to most doesn't mean much to them. If anything, folks these days tend to double down on the support. Is February the same kind of earning dip for camming as it is for stuff like streaming and social media? Like, would it be the best time to mount a "get me to #1" campaign, and then fuck off for the rest of the year?

What ever works for who ever is fine.
I just can't tell what her attraction is.
I like a girl to at least actually talk to chat. She doesn't seem to.

There are all different types of cammodels and clearly she is liked by lots of people enough to get #1. Those people might know about her controversies or not. There is no issue with her not being chatty because they're actively tipping.

I have no idea who she is. Can anyone give a TLDR for me? Some examples what kind of bad stuff she has done? I did see in thefirst post on that old topic her dressed as a Nazi, but didn't go past that

Yeah I'm totally lost but I haven't opened MFC in ten years.

I think that first person is her. I skimmed the thread last night. I couldn't be bothered reading it in detail, but basically this chick does these things, like wrap herself in a swastika flag. Which some people consider "edgy art" or "satire" or some shite, then the rest of us think it's insensitive. So that's the controversy. Idk if she still does stuff like that, and much less do I care. If I don't like someone's choices, I simply don't hang out with them, or spend money on them. Or direct any of my attention their way.

But from what I gathered (from a very cursory and superficial) skim of the thread, she does stuff some people think she should be banned for. I didn't memorize any details of that stuff, because tbf the whole topic is offputting to me. And upon seeing the swastika flag, I already knew that would never be someone I supported, regardless of the intention behind these displays. So I lost interest.

Somebody else randomly commented that us Brits don't know much about WW2, which was ridiculous!
And that's the only notable points from me.

TLDR; I think that is her in the flag. People have different opinions about that, what is meant by that, and whether MFC should allow it. In the past she has done similar such "edgy" things, like wear a burqa on 911.

Bear in mind, that thread, and the height of her notoriety, was ten years ago. The world has certainly changed since then. At the very least, the shitty edgelord to actual fascist pipeline hadn't quite set by then, so the line of plausible deniability was marginally more solid. Maybe she does or did fancy herself an artist -- the Marina Abramović of the horny livestream set -- but I do know for sure she mostly was more a Queen of 4chan type, at least back then. I couldn't say what her angle or her appeal is these days.

was more a Queen of 4chan type,
Mm what does that part mean? I'm not going to argue one way or another. I'm just purely curious what the 4chan type is? I hear them referred to all the time, and I always wonder. It was before my hey day, or maybe I just somehow missed 4chan completely, focusing elsewherw.

Are we saying like Jocks? Or what kind of culture was/ is that? Devs? Hackers? Anarchists? Antichrists? Nihilists? Lol. You never know these days.

4chan Rule 34'd everything they could get their hands on and then went batshit insane with incel theories and all that jazz. Any female catering to that crowd basically had to have nerves of steel (in my opinion). Basically, 4chan's policy was that as long as it did not violate Federal laws, any content could be posted. Gore, hate speech, et al.

Cringe edgelords. People who do/say offensive things just for the shock factor, thinking it makes them cool. At least, that’s the way I see it.

When I was in high school, 4chan and /b/ (the random board) was in its “prime” and the best way to describe the majority of what was posted there was a stagnating cesspool.

A good example of how /b/ was: There was a young girl who made some YouTube videos accusing an emo band singer of sexually assaulting her, along with other videos of her cursing a lot and whatnot. The videos were shared to /b/ and she ended up being doxxed and harassed by 4chan users.

I leaned into /b/ a bit in my earliest days on MFC.

It's actually where I FOUND MFC. I got posted there frequently with members' BAF (Bring A Friend, the built in affiliate token system) links, and they'd come dump all those tokens on me. I did "sharpie in pooper" and "triforced" and "shoe on head" and all that stuff. They actually liked me because back then, there was not a lot of that there. They helped me start out in the top 20 Miss MFC many months in the beginning.

So I know it's a cesspool of ick, especially now, but I can't hate it too much since it's part of my history. Hell, I named one of my dogs Boxxy...

Anyways.

I think that Whorenickels was more of the 4chan type than Olivia.

To clarify, I don't think Olivia was ever really courting that sort of crowd. I just think that edgy performances catch the attention of those looking for the stuff. I was mostly doomscrolling Reddit by 2015, so maybe that's where I saw talk about her out in the wild. I just recall catching discussions of her in unappealing communities (and Reddit in 2015 was the definition of unappealing -- a different flavor of shit than 4chan, but still.)

ETA: This is a fun little dip into internet lore!

Browsing weird subreddits? lol

It seems to be quite liberal/woke leaning in general now (aka on the proper side of things), was it not back then? I've been using it for... a long time... and never remember it being anywhere near 4chan worthy levels of "unappealing" unless I headed into the conservative/trump loving subs.

ah nvm just noticed this word.

So you were purposely seeking the icky stuff.

LOL got me beat by a few years.

Reddit bullshit felt pretty hard to avoid for me at the time. /r/All was peak for hate subs, and a shitload of casual misogyny. Remember Ellen Pao? The restructuring to keep adult subs off the front page, and the first big purges of hate subs started going down a year or two later. So, at least to my fragile sensibilities, there was a whole lot of awful shit I'd run across just by having a scroll down the front page without filters.

I do think that Reddit's unique form of "liberalism" can be just as toxic and hateful as anything, though. It's softened a lot as Reddit has grown into such a juggernaut, but there's a kind of know-nothing know-it-all quality to Reddit culture that I find just as abrasive as chan culture's chaos.

I've asked that same 4chan question many different times in a bunch of internet places. I think the 4 chan crowd must be kinda undefinable because I always get really varying answers.
I missed it completely.
I'm just gonna have to deal.

r/ reddit. I remember thinking it was a terrible place when I first visited it, back in 2015. Haven't been back much since.
I did specifically go to threads where I was arguing with traditional, misogynistic men about the humanity of cam models though, so... I think I did what Amber said and went straight to the shitty part.
I remember guys trying to argue with me about the anatomy of the vagina too. They were wrong, but they kept arguing nevertheless.

Honestly, had I started camming when I turned 18, I probably would have done the same thing.

Since we’re talking about controversial MFC models and 4chan, isn’t /b/ part of the reason why PumpkinSpice/Katsumi got as much traction as she did when she first started camming?

I actually thought that 4chan was shuttered now, it’s been ages since I’ve gone there or thought about it, but I just looked and it’s still up. I know 8chan/8kun is offline now. It was even worse there. Very happy about that too. There was a board for a niche fetish I film in, and years ago when there wasn’t as many people filming in that category I got pretty well known and download links to my pirated content was always being plastered there.

LMAO, home run in the first swing! You have perfectly described the unappealing qualities of Reddit I'm talking about. Those types of threads and arguments were very easy to stumble into in 2015.

Every once in a while, just out of morbid curiosity, I spend a minute or two clicking around 4chan. I just went back, and none of the links worked. I think it's taking issue with my VPN, and not loading pages, which is probably the most hilarious irony I can think of.

I've finally had to stop visiting the front pages, and try very hard to limit my time on Reddit all together. It's hard because Reddit can be useful, I know perfectly well how to navigate it, and I at least know what to expect from the folks there. But social media in general is just doing too much psychic damage right now, and since Reddit has been my social media of choice for a dozen years, that's the one I need to ween off from.

much psychic damage right now,
That's a really good and accurate way of putting it. I feel that right now too. I think a lot of other people do as well. A lot of people I've been around recently are saying just as much too.
