My First Expo Night

I'm sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to put this, if it is please don't hesitate to let me know. I just sorta need to get this off my chest and could use all the help I can get.

Tonight was the first night of Exxxotica in Edison, NJ; my first expo. I drove a total of about 6.5 hours, ending up an hour and a half late for the expo after driving directly there stopping only to check in very briefly at my hotel. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the Chaturbate booth to find all of my fellow models on-cam (which I was under the impression was optional: my laptop is extremely bulky, ancient and has a faulty battery and my camming style is incredibly conversational, I figured camming at the event would probably do more damage than good to my fanbase). To make the best of this, I spent the majority of my time handing out business cards, greeting people, telling them what Chaturbate is all about, inviting them to join me in my room when I cam, follow me on Twitter, etc.

This next series of grievances may be taken offensively so I want to preface it by saying that I hold no bad blood against anyone, this is just the way things played out. By the time I got to the booth I found that I was not only the only male but I was the only one wearing nothing with the word Chaturbate on it. There were apparently no Chaturbate... anything... left for me to attire (and if you know me, I'll wear pretty much anything, I have no shame). I was also sorta put in the corner since there wasn't exactly room for everyone. Since I wasn't actively camming, I had no problem with my placement; that space should definitely be reserved for actively camming models. The problem lay within the fact that almost everyone I introduced myself to was genuinely surprised that I was a Chaturbate model or even associated with the site.

Beyond the whole gender issue, which is another discussion entirely, I simply want to make the most out of tomorrow. Since I am running around my first expo completely alone all day tomorrow as a male cammodel and the last thing I want to do is step on anyone's toes, I'm really just asking for any advice, assistance or company that I can get.

I obviously am heading to bed now since I'd like to be around when things start up tomorrow, but if anyone wants to give me some pointers or wants to just drop in and say hi it would deeply and sincerely be appreciated. Deez, I gotta give you credit. You are the only male model I have seen/talked to (granted that is only 4 guys) who takes himself seriously and does these kinds of things. The other guys I have talked to all did it for their own thrills. I would have walked out of the expo and not gone back the second day.

The fact that they didn't even have a Chaturbate sticker you could slap on your buns or something is a bit odd. I know MFC whored out their stickers, shirts, undies, etc like crazy at most of the cons they go to.

I'm sorry that you had a crappy first night at the expo and I really hope you continue updating this thread. As far as I know, you are the only male model who's taken the steps to even go to the conventions as a performer so you're basically breaking some serious ground here which is awesome.

it was my first expo as well and i honestly had high expectations. a friend of mine had worked it in previous years and she hyped it up to be the GREATEST experience ever. she talked about all the money you can make and the people that are going to want to take pictures with you and the networking that was to be done etc etc.

well i spent 2 days there. one of which i spent the entire time camming at the chaturbate booth. and it was the complete opposite for me. i know im not well known but i am friendly and have an outgoing personality and felt like neither of those things mattered in this environment. Yes i did wear skimpy outfits but felt more clothed than most. it was also very discouraging when you watch the other girls besides you make BANK while youre just like well im just gonna keep dancing and having a good time alone over here lol

one thing that was great about the environment and the expo as a whole. was that at no point in time was i judged for what i was doing or what i looked like. it was a breath of fresh air and helped remind me why i started camming in the first place. and over all it was what i expected it to be deep down. a learning experience.

but a reply to original post chaturbate did run out of tshirts (mostly because there was a vip scavenger hunt which required you to get a chaturbate shirt) BUT myfreecams had BOXES full of tshirts, booty shorts, panties, the whole 9 yards lol they also had a WAY better location. but ZERO girls there as where chaturbate had a million girls all weekend

As an update, things turned out great in the end. Thank you guys SO MUCH for dropping in and saying hi, tipping, swinging by the booth, giving your feedback and personal experiences. Sincerely, thank you.

I ended up getting a CB t-shirt and that was more than enough for me to turn my head around. I hit a point where I didn't give a shit if I had 20-50 people in my room and the people next to me had hundreds if not thousands more. I just wanted to have a good time, show people and myself that I could was still having the time of my life and I fuckin did! I couldn't have done it without the support and encouragement of you guys. =D

@GoSeeMyBits.com - Since I was working the booth and on cam pretty much the duration of my time at the expo on days 2-3, I didn't get to see any of the events or talks, sorry

We gave you a men's Chaturbate t-shirt and you left with a stack of Chaturbate stickers...... And to accommodate your laptop in which it needed to be plugged in the whole time, I actually went to Walmart to get an extension cord to specifically accommodate you.

Of all the times you decide to actually post on ACF it isn't to address the numerous bans or models pleading for support from your site, but to be sure to passive aggressively jab at those who decided to support chaturbate by going to the event.

But Chaturbate has male, female, and couples cams; the likelihood of a few male broadcasters showing up to promote your site had to be pretty high (obviously at least one did!) So why was the main paraphernalia reserved/tailored for the female broadcasters, while their male counterparts (and partners) didn't have anything specifically set aside for them? Seems a bit sexist, and ignores the large number of males who broadcast on your site, and all the people who tip them/who were excited to see them at the expo. Unless you were trying to discourage the male broadcasters from using your booth beside the female models for some reason? It just doesn't seem to add up, but feel free to let me know if I'm misunderstanding in some way.

Just to clarify things, because I can taste blood on the wind right now and I don't see a huge need for it... things at the expo were hectic. This happens, it's completely understandable.

I got to the expo late on the first day, that's on me. I wasn't aware that shirts were being given away as part of a scavenger hunt until the second day, I didn't clarify that I didn't care whether it was a mens XXL or a child's S shirt or even a thong, that I just wanted something with Chaturbate on it so people stopped treating me like I was a janitor when they walked by the booth or try walk into the booth because they thought I was just another dude at the expo and knew I was actually a model there to represent CB. I took things personally because it was an extremely overwhelming experience to me and I felt completely alone, I felt like I was being more of a burden to the booth than an asset. I didn't care about free shit, I just wanted to feel like I was actually part of the group and I admittedly could have taken a much more active role in introducing myself and expressing myself.

By day two, right off the bat, things flipped 180.

There is no need for bad blood or anything, Shirley went above and beyond to accommodate to myself and my archaic laptop in a crowded and limited space and to get me swag. It really does mean a lot to me.

Honestly, just being able to be there, represent the site and be presented and accepted as a model was all I really wanted. This was accomplished (and then some). Everything is cool here on my side and it really was a pleasure to meet you in person as well, Shirley!


P.S. Men's shirts disappear like crazy, lots of men at the expo.

I don't have any advice for you but I think this sucks.

I actually think male cam models do have a big market which is currently not being taken full advantage of. People always think of porn for men because men are really visual, but if you go onto a site like MFC most of the members who actually pay loads are using the site largely for the social values. The feeling of having company safe from your own home.

I think if a site were marketed this way towards women, focusing a lot less on the sex side but more on the social environment and conversation side that you actually would get more women than you might think. Women are lonely too. Women also like checking out hot guys as much as guys like checking out hot girls, we're just a lot more complex and enjoy the personality side of things more than the "wham bam done". Most people just disregard this. We all know that men will pay for camsites so why try out something that appeals to women's sexuality (something that most dudes who want to start up a camsite know nothing about)? I guess this is why people don't really take male modelling as seriously, even though it is a market, you're only managing to tap into a really small portion of it.

I think though Deez you are the only male cam model I've ever had communication with who has seemed to genuinely understand what it is to be a model. I'm not saying there aren't others out there who take camming seriously, but you really seem to get it. More than many female models. It makes me sad that someone who clearly takes this seriously didn't get the recognition you deserve at the convention

It's really hard being a less sexual model on a site that is so sexual. It's no offense to sexuality in general or CB as a site because I clearly love having the opportunity to do what I do, but I have always said in reference to my show format "If I had tits, I'd be on MFC". The traffic just tends to cater more to a conversationalist-style model.

It reflects in my room numbers, my revenue, etc. It's not an easy task but one that I was well aware would be difficult from the start and I think more people are starting to see what I do and accept its legitimacy.

It does need to be taken into factor, as well, that I am relatively new to the scene compared to many top models out there (I've only been camming a year and a half). Some things take time and I'm a patient man.

Since there has been a lot of talk on the board about new site ideas and stuff, maybe an MFCesque site that allowed male models might be plausible in the future. Perhaps we should start a new thread about it, I would be in full support of this.
