MFC is conning me!

Ever since I've come to my university halls of residence, MFC has acted weird on my PC. It's slow, the chatroom text doesn't display at all (the only way to read it is to look at the archive later) and worst of all, the room tends to refresh every minute. This is disastrous for a cam site! Is it the halls of residence? Somehow I doubt it because I can watch all the hardcore porn I like and they couldn't care less. Last week I wasted 180 tokens on a request and the girl (as you might expect) wasn't going to repeat it when I told her MFC is gyping me. I just missed a freebie with a different model, and the girl probably will not be willing to give me another now. :angry4:

Is this a technical glitch with a fix? I want a refund for sure from MFC on those 180 tox. In fact, I'd say they owe me even more than that. What can be done about this?

Why would you tip for something if MFC was acting laggy on your end? They aren't conning you; you're making poor decisions and they owe you nothing. TONS of people use MFC and don't have the extreme problems you have. It's likely the residence hall internet attributing to most of it. The hardcore porn you watch isn't streaming live. You can pause it and let it buffer + it needs far less internet than streaming live video + chat feed.

You sound like an angry chat support caller. "I would like a refund for this months cable!! I didn't realize that I had to plug my tv in if I wanted to watch! This is ridiculous! You're conning me!!!"

Well, you could forgive me for forgetting about the problems several months on, attempting to tip for a request and having it be wasted. I'm definitely justified to be mad. Yes I'm using "shitty dorm internet" but when it downloads videos so fast I forget that MFC is a pain.

I don't think the internet service can be blamed for the constant chatroom refreshes. There must be some setting on my profile or browser that's doing it? Has anyone ever come across something like this before.

Instead of all the conning bull you should have just asked that right off the bat. Asking for help doesn't annoy people so much as the rest of your original post does.

Now, to answer this civil question. Have you tried other browsers? Internet Explorer just sucks always for all things on the internet. Chrome and Firefox seem to work the best. But also Comodo Dragon or Icy Dragon (which are built off chrome and firefox by the way) also work great. Hell, Safari and Opera also work better than IE for that matter. Install several and try them all. If the problem goes away on other browsers it has nothing to do with your internet or mfc. If it still persists on many of them then you've narrowed it down to probable other causes.

Does this have the exact same issues in all the models rooms? Can you go to Chaturbate and load one of their high definition cam rooms and see if that video is smooth?

Does this problem persist if you move the computer out of your room or building. Does it do it with a laptop in the library? You mentioned this only started after you moved to your dorm. So your own wording suggests it's your dorm's internet/wifi and has nothing to do with mfc. You have to think about the thousands of other kids also watching videos and listening to music on the campus as well.

As for the refund from mfc, you're in college now. Time to use your grown up brain and think things through. You knew you had lag issues 'ever since I've come to my university halls of residence' and yet you chose to spend the tokens anyway. Do you really think they are going to give out a refund for that?

Also: Have you tried submersing your computer? Halls of residence are notorious for lacking the humidity required for streaming live content.

Yep, same deal in every MFC model room. I've tried to catch girls on Streamate before but it's nearly impossible to snipe the times they're on. Never used Chaturbate. For what it's worth, a conventional chatroom worked pretty well a few weeks ago and that was with several video/audio streams simultaneously.

I have a desktop with wired internet, so portability is almost non-existent. There is no Wi-Fi service in dorms. I don't have a laptop, but I do have a tablet and a smartphone. I suppose I could try one of them with Wi-Fi at the library, but obviously that means ensconcing myself in a corner with headphones and ensuring that nobody can see what I'm "testing". Plus fap opportunities would be a no-go. Hell I'd use my smartphone's data to stream it if I had more and it wasn't so expensive.

Yeah I know that the network undergoes heavy traffic, but when I can run multiple video downloads through a special hoster in parallel and at nice speed it makes me dubious.

Anyone have an idea about a MFC profile setting that might be doing this?

I am a platinum MFC member from cumulative tips over the (more lucrative) years, and if there's a slim chance of them refunding it, I'll peruse that chance. Also forgive me for not remembering about this problem from the start of the previous semester when I'm doing a Masters degree and have had dozens of other stuff in my head since then. I was painfully reminded of the problem this fortnight when I returned to MFC, if I had remembered I wouldn't have bothered with the site. It happens, unfortunately.

You can try asking them for a refund. But here's a couple things to remember:

1. When you ask for a refund, there's a possibility they'll treat your account as "high risk" in the future, limiting your ability to buy tokens/buy tokens in the higher quantities later.

2. It isn't THEIR fault, they aren't conning you, they aren't targeting you and doing this on purpose. It's very very likely something to do with your dorm connection, so when you contact them, do NOT approach it in the same manner you approached this forum with the "you're fucking me over" approach. You want them to do you a favor, so treat them with some respect.

They have helped resolve my own tech issues in the past, and they have also refunded some of my tokens before. Just state what your issues are in a clear and concise statement and I'm sure they will help you out as best they can.

For the most part, everyone understands why you're angry. You spent your tokens but was short-ended by (what appears to be) technical problems, therefore not receiving what you paid for. We can empathize with your position. It's the original post, to which you barged on this forum with a mad man's accusation that had everyone's eyes rolling.

Your last two posts would show that you're still able to think with a level head and discuss things calmly, which is commendable. It's something to think about the next time something doesn't go your way, that you're able to approach the problem without appearing irrational.

Okay. This narrows it down considerably.

Try a VPN. Virtual Private Network.

There's some free ones that, since they are free, have some limitations. Either limiting bandwidth or total bytes downloaded on a daily/weekly basis. But they should work for an MFC room or two.

This will take you very few minutes to test. If it doesn't work, just uninstall it and forget about it.

I suggest Hotspot Shield. Just install it, make sure it's connected and THEN load up MFC. A vpn is an encrypted network connection to that company's server that forwards your webpage requests for you and then sends you back those pages. So this will bypass the normal servers your routing through to get to MFC's server.

Keep in mind there are other advantages to a VPN besides just mfc rooms. This will also encrypt everything you do on the internet. So your school will have no idea of anything you do at all. Think of it this way. It will basically take you on a different path to get to the naked women. If the normal highway you travel is congested this goes on the back country roads.

Now, if this does work for you keep in mind there are paid ones that are better. No limits. Up to 5 devices connected at the same time. Multiple servers for you to choose to connect to. Overall they aren't expensive either. Around $6 a month down to $3 a month if paid for up to a year at a time.

University internet connections often have rate limiting applied so individual students don't hog all the bandwidth. Sometimes the rate limiting is applied to streaming video but not downloads, with the idea that downloads won't usually go on for a long time but streaming video could tie up bandwidth for hours.

Another possibility is that the university's peering agreements with ISPs might be giving them a really crappy route to MFC's servers that can't handle the necessary bandwidth.

I'd try a VPN (start with one of the free ones) for two reasons:

• The university's rate limiter might not rate limit packets going through a VPN.
• It will cause your packets to take a different route to MFC, which might result in better throughput if the resulting route avoids congested links.

I work at a college and have seen the routing issue before (when one of our ISPs had some misconfiguration). (Luckily for me only our dorms are rate limited, not the academic/administrative offices.)

The streaming method for live cams may well be different to the streaming method for things like... youtube. And the transfer protocol for downloads is different to that of streaming a live video feed.

Perhaps the traffic is shaped for one, but not the other.

Try outside your dorm - try on a laptop at a cafe, at your parents, a friends.


However, since you are at uni - how about getting the fuck out the dorm and having a good time instead of sitting inside watching porn. When I was at uni there wasn't time for watching porn or sitting around - no time for anything anything due to the social aspect of it
