Hello all,

I hope you dont mind me posting directly into the forum but I hoped it would be the best way to get in touch and spread the word without being intrusive!
I am currently working on a new documentary for C4 about women whowork in the webcam and online video industry . This will be a thoughtful andpositive look at an industry which can be often misunderstood, and hopes to dispel myths and challenge any taboos that exsist to date.

Clean in content, with a light-hearted and warm tone, thisdocumentary will get to know the real lives of the women behind the webcams, and is all about female empowerment. First and foremost, we want to focus onour contributors as people, as well as on the industry they work in, defying any preconceptions that may stand.

Although there have been various forms of media on camming in the past, many have fixated on the cruder and 'sadder' stories of girls in camming which aim to patronise and belittle and I do not believe represents the majority of women in the industry! We’re interested in hearing from confident women who may receive or cater for some funny or unusual requests, not hard-core, just interesting or humorous. We’d love to hear from women with a great story to tell, who have lots of other interests besides webcamming; and who have made an intended decision to embrace the world of the web. We hope to hear from a variety of women from all backgrounds, ages (above 18 of course) and who feel confident and comfortable talking about what they do and the realities of life as a cammer.

This documentary follows the success of our recent Channel 4 production, ‘My Phone Sex Secrets,’ which can still be viewed online at http://www.channel4.com/programmes/my-p ... ecrets/4od.

If you or anyone you know might be interested, we wouldabsolutely love to have a chat about our positive and empowering documentary. There is absolutely no obligation involved in getting in touch. Please contact Annabelle on annabelle.draper@back2back.tv.

Back2back Productions create challenging andthought-provoking documentaries; our website can be viewed at www.back2back.tv. Our contributors’ comfortand privacy is very important to us, and we pride ourselves on handling sensitive subjects with compassion and discretion.

Thanks so much and look forward to hearing from any of you who are keen to talk further!

Annabelle

^ Yeah... I was especially warmed by the part where the lady answered a call from a client, as a gang of her drunken mates sat around laughing at his requests... Um, did he consent to his voice being mocked on TV like this? Either way, it does not paint our biz in a very positive light that clients are treated that way.

Screw that, I was sooooo warmed when the show opened saying "drastic times call for drastic measures", because, you know... dirty sex work is such a drastic measure!

I recall it being a light-hearted look at a diverse group of women using phone sex to pay the bills. It didn't paint them as desperate or exploited or damaged. If I recall correctly, the dood being "mocked" was a humiliation enthusiast was he not? And he must have signed a consent form before his voice was used in the show, so I'm guessing he didn't mind.

Note to future people wanting to post messages about wanting camgirls for some documentary. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE!

Courteous, professional, direct to the point. With a real email address for inquiries and links to informational sites and prior works.

Well done.
:handgestures-salute:

Hell, this one should almost be stickied.

I just rewatched it to see if I was missing something and still think it paints its subects in an extremely positive light.

The "drastic times" comment is clearly flippant. Throughout the course of the show, it tells the stories of young girls who are either at university or thinking of going to university and are using phone sex to cancel out their student debts, and retired women who use phone sex as a fun means of earning supplemental income. The nineteen year old girl remarks how she's able to live in a luxury apartment (that she furnished herself) all because of this job that she enjoys. One of the older ladies is referred to as a "respected pillar of the community" and is shown being completely open about her job with her well-to-do friends and crucially not being judged.

The friends of the other older lady don't come across so well, laughing at her as she calls a client a "fuck-slave" but the lady actually talking on the phone comes across as sympathetic and respectful of her clients, defending them and explaining to her friends that it's all harmless fun. She seems like exactly the sort of person somebody in the sex industry would want to be represented by.

The show presents a subject that the wider public might look down upon as being "perverse", and clearly and demonstrably takes the stance that there's nothing wrong with it, that it's a job that can improve the quality of life of its workers, and goes some way in removing the stigma that's attached to it.

I honestly have no idea why anybody in the sex industry (or otherwise) would choose to take offence to it. I think this could be a good thing for camming. By and large, mainstream media coverage of the camming world pretty much uniformly sticks to the seedier side of the industry - exploitation, money laundering, sex trafficking, etc. - and seldom publicises the positives. Most cam girls do this because they enjoy it. By affording those girls a platform to tell their story, maybe it can convince a few people that cam girls and people who frequent cam sites deserve neither pity nor condemnation, ya know? :twocents-02cents:

Did it not load at all for you or did you get the message it wasn't available in your area? I got that one on first loading it while going through a Canadian server.

I think the C4 link will only work if you're in the UK.

I respect your opinion, and that you liked it! Just I (personally) didn't like it at all.

As for it being good for camming, that's a whole different thing, and is also dependent on how you look at it. If someone makes a documentary about camming so goddamn good that every girl and her sister in the country applies, it could flood the industry and minimize the $$$$ everyone makes.. Which might not necessarily be a good thing. And is another reason I'm not entirely keen on documentaries being made on us.

To those of you who are thinking "Well, why in the world would a cam girl not agree to this?," there could be many reasons, and you need to put yourselves in our shoes.....

I'm assuming that if you've made the decision to appear in this sort of documentary, then you've already had the "I'm a cam girl" conversation with your family/friends. So they won't be in their living room fainting "Oh, lawd, not my baby!" when they see you on T.V. in cam girl documentary, right? LOL. Cool.

Cam girls who agree to this are trusting that they will be displayed in a positive light. Not being painted as 'desperate' ("desperate times call for desperate measures")...and no headlines talking about how "these dirty little sluts will do anything for money" or anything like that.

Cam girls who agree to this should be aware that this documentary could convince lots of new girls to sign up, and many of them may be signing up because they think it's "easy money." If you don't mind lots of new girls (competition) on the homepage, cool.

It's refreshing to see a newcomer to the forum presenting their idea in a polite and respectful manner...kudos for that, Annabelle. :thumbleft: Still, I would politely decline the offer (and besides, I'm not a U.K. cammer anyway, so I don't think I count...lol). As a model who doesn't exactly shout from the rooftops "Hey, I'm a cam girl!," I wouldn't be interested in this type of exposure at all. But maybe some models will be interested? I wish the best to all of the models who do agree to it.
