I cam on MFC. I started a while ago, and had to take a very long break due to surgery. I'm back now, but I believe I lost a few of my regulars. I had made an MFC Tumblr to update people, so it's not like people don't know what's going on. I used to make up to $100 a day, now I'm having trouble even getting 1 token. I know one of my biggest problems is not knowing what to do to entertain people and keep them while I'm waiting for tokens. I can't just give out everything and not get paid for it. I had made a menu too. I know I'm not that boring, some guys have told me that too. But sometimes I freeze, or go brain dead. I know I'm an entertainer, but does anyone have tips on what I can do while waiting? I can only cam in my bedroom because of other people in the house. Also, what should I give out for free? Should I not wait for tips to get nude? Please help me. :/ I need the money to buy essential things like clothes and food. There's a lot I can't afford without this. I have already checked out other camming sites too, and MFC is my favorite. What are some things I can do in my bedroom, and what kind of topics should I make? Thank you in advance for any advice! Oh, and here is my MFC: http://profiles.myfreecams.com/EviTulvcas

First suggestion is to get verified model status.

Most of what you're asking for is basic, basic stuff that you could have found by skimming the public section or using the search function.

If you want some advice personalized to you, my one criticism would be that your menu on your profile is too complicated and has too many things on it. Many people will skip over it because of that. Put a couple special things that you do (IE custom photos, instant messaging) and save things such as flashes, countdowns, etc for the room topic.

Watch more myfreecams as a member to get some inspiration as well.

^ This.

In addition, some of your prices are very steep compared to other models.

Examples: Show off butt - 250 tokens.
Nipple clamps - 750 tokens.
Use Feather on my body - 250 tokens.

Don't undersell yourself of course, and don't do anything for less money than you'd be comfortable receiving, but also take a look at what other girls take for a flash (butt or boob flashes usually seem to be somewhere between 20 and 50 tokens).
And like Jessi, said, put some things in your room topic instead. :thumbleft:

Also, what does "Videos on profile - 2500 tokens" mean? There are no descriptions of your videos on your profile and 2500 tokens is a very high price to pay for something that you don't know anything about :/

For the video, it's for the future video I will make. I have looked at other prices for videos, and I saw others around the same price. I guess I could lower it though. I only make it so high because for me, making a video is big. For the basic stuff, I mean of course I looked around. I don't want to copy models though, and I don't want to give too much away. I will take out basic stuff like take of clothes and stuff. I will also lower some prices. Basically for pricing, I looked at some of the top models and based my pricing off of that. The other models I looked at either already got paid and are already doing things, or are just very popular. I will browse some more though on MFC.

I think the better suggestion is to take the offer for videos down until they're actually made. Unless you change it to customs.

For me, making a video is a big deal, too, but I offer them from 150-250 tokens. You want a lot of people to want to buy them, not one person to settle for paying over 2k tokens for one.

Custom vids are another thing... I'd suggest not offering that until you're more comfortable on cam and making videos. A model doesn't *have* to offer custom videos. Sometimes I believe they are much more hassle than they are worth if sold outright, especially on MFC.

We are entertainers so let me give you an example.

Actress Alice vs Angelina Jolie.
They are both actresses and are both full time.
Alice is new but she's got lots of talent. Alice could charge 10k dollars per project or she could say, fuck this shit I'm better than Angelina, I'll charge same as her.

Alice charges 10 million dollars per project and gets no income. But she could have charged 10k per project and done 20 projects a year and still made 200k.
This is an extreme example btw and none of the top mfc models make anywhere close to Hollywood stars but it should give you an idea of demand and exposure, optimal price and profits.

You have to figure out the optimal price that will give you maximum profit but don't sell yourself short either. Build your brand over time.

Yeah, as a member, I agree with what everyone is saying about the prices. For example, there's no way in HELL I would pay that much for one video, and I don't think most other members would either. If you're not comfortable with videos, don't offer them, or make them custom.

Kickaz's analogy is a good one...the reason top models can charge those prices is because they're top models. With the prices you're listing, you're basically guaranteeing that unless you find one really obsessive sugar daddy, you'll never sell a thing. It's not that you're not worth it (I'm sure you are), but you have to understand the market. Very few members can just throw around tokens in the hundreds or thousands for butt flashes and videos and such.

Economics 101 summed up right there.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I wrote on my MFC blog that I'll be lowering my prices and removing some things. I guess I was so afraid of not making anything if I had low prices. It is true though that more people will be willing to buy with low prices. My problem was that I ONLY looked at top models and their menus. I'm going to try harder, I even thought hard last night and got some ideas for topics and fun things to do. So thanks everyone! I can't believe I was so clueless. :/ Usually I go above and beyond in the things I do, but I was definitely not doing that for camming. I will try harder now.

If you can update to this thread every so often. It would be interesting on how this turns out. This thread may also be a good tool for others.

Good Luck! :p

I consider myself a successful model (in that if i work 30-40hrs a week, i can place top 100-50 most months).

My vids are Cheap as dirt.
The reason?
I make more money that way.

The other day, Sexxy_Bunny convinced me to log on with her and we offered a combined package of 14 vids for 150 tks. 7 from her 7 from me. It was a slow day and we needed to make some tokies! I went through the list of ppl who tipped for that package and they were Almost entirely new tippers!! which was awesome!!! And I made a fuck ton of tokens from this deal. More than I would have if i had priced the vids at regular prices.

That said there are a few things I price highly - supply vs demand. I have exclusive dog tags I send out for people who have tipped me 6000tks. They get lifetime membership in my member club, and the dog tag. The tag + postage costs around $20. The reason its SO high is cos i want them to be COLLECTABLE items.

If i was to make a B/G vid (which I DONT DO) it would be priced at 800tks + because I know I would get it. I'd make it a collectable item, and my strategy would be to sell to a few loyal fans.

your problem right now, is that you dont have loyal fans. The top models you looked at with high prices are able to price that way because they have spent years creating these incredibly loyal fanbases. The guys aren't just tipping that much for the request, they're tipping because they love the model and the hype she generates, and in some cases the status of saying "I'm one of 'x top models' official club members"

Some of the things you have there for 2000tks 'regular masturbate' sounds like you're talking about a countdown. Normally, on mfc - members dont walk around dropping 2000tks in public chat to pay for everyone elses show. Actually sometimes they do, but usually its PART of a countdown that all members can contribute to. Id consider trying that.

Reading a few books on basic marketing strategies really helped me get my head around pricing myself..

When i was VERY new i offered skype at 20tks a minute to try to boost my camscore. I wish i had said it was a SPECIAL price, because I got flack when i raised it from regs who got comfy at that price. So one tip i have is if you do lower your prices to get things moving, and plan on raising them, consider calling it "SPECIAL PRICING".

Sorry this was a rather disjointed ramble..hopefully you get something good out of it.

I will keep posting to this, especially if I do well after editing everything. When I first started, I definitely didn't think too much about getting fans and having regulars. I didn't think about building up to a lot of regulars or a big fanbase. I have some regulars that I recognize every now and then, and they are always enjoyable to talk to. I think that's the best thing about camming. Some of the loyal fans you get can be so much fun, and can be a friend to you. I like how they have seen many parts of me, but still treat me like a human, not a sex object. I really want to work on getting a lot of loyal regulars and I will not raise my tips until I have that. I may never raise them after lowering them either. I may just end up adding some things in the future, when I have fans that want to do something special alone with me or something. We'll see. I'm actually excited for my next camming day now. :}

MFC is a site where for MOST girls, a huge chunk of their income is coming from regulars. Other sites, that can be different.. but I rely on a set group of people for 80-90% of my income. They are the people that keep coming back day after day. They will fade away over time, and new friends come in but we always have a core group and those are the 'rock' you can count on.

Developing a sense of community around you will help. Thats why membership clubs do so well on MFC. People like to belong.

Hello!

If you go to the "NEW MODELS START HERE" sticky in the Model's Only section, there is a link to a thread about "Profile Help". There are a ton of threads in there that will help you and I know that both of these questions are answered there, you just have to find the right threads. (Both are linked in there.)

It's always a good idea to use the search feature (upper right of the page) because a lot of basic questions have already been answered, often a lot of times!

Also, I suggest reading through all the threads in the "START HERE" section if you're new and have lots of questions, it should help you out a LOT!

I don't know what other members think, but the “down-angle arm-extended close-up myspace” kind of pictures you are using on your profile are not the most flattering. You probably don't have a tripod, but try posing your camera on a stable surface, try some poses, and take pictures with the self timer. Or better, use a trustworthy friend.
Maybe it's just me and other customers don't pay attention to profile pictures.

There's a goofy charm about selfies that will appeal to a certain group of pervs. If your cam persona matches the impression your photos give, then they work fine, although there could be more of them. And you might want to rethink your colour scheme, which currently looks a bit like that of a tax lawyer's or insurance broker's website. Others go for more polished, professional profile photos, but along with that comes the expectation that you will be glamourous on cam, like Brina or RebeccaPeters. That's not what every model or her regulars are interested in.

TL;DR: Your profile should harmonize with your on-cam persona.
