I hope this topic generates a more positive response then my last. :-D

Tonight I spent my evening with the family making peppermint marshmallow rice krispie treats. It got me thinking about what people like to eat during the holiday season.

Do you like sweet or salty, fruity or chocolate, healthy or sinful? Are you a fudge person, a cake person, a veggie tray person, or a chex mix person? Or dose deviled eggs and eggnog tickle your fancy? (I know its gross)

Please chime in.

I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. This is the time for family, so make some memories... :)

I'm a big fan of peppermint bark. Also I love anything sugary/chocolately. Not so much on salty things this time of year. What am I doing. I'm really tempted to go buy stuff to make treats now. :woops:

Also, eggnog is acceptable as long as there's copious amount of alcohol in it. Same goes for cocoa with peppermint schnapps. ;)

I am not a big fan of peppermint flavored things, so Christmas time is not the best time for me. Given that restriction there is not much else I don't like this time of the year. Though, I would never ruin perfectly good rice krispy treats with peppermint just to make it seasonal. ;)

Might as well just give the recipes to some of my fav's. Based on these i've pasted below I would have to say i'm a cookie person.

Well im allergic to chocolate so a lot of holiday treats are out for me. What I can't get enough of though are deviled eggs, the obligatory vegetable tray with dip, egg nog, chex mix, candied yams, and pumpkin spice lattes. Also it's not for me but the kitties always get an all you can eat buffet of soft food on xmas day too.

Well that sucks. Big Hugs!!! I kind of like dark chocolate but I have met some women who didn't fancy chocolate at all. True story, not making that up.

During the holiday season, I will allow myself to indulge in a few things I normally don't eat much of during the rest of the year. Cheese dips/balls, bread, crackers, chips and all that other stuff but only in moderation and the sweets. Ohhhh how the fat man trapped inside loves the sweets. Sugar pie, pecan pie, sugar cookies, just give me a stick of butter, a tub of brown sugar, lock me in a room and do not disturb cause it's about to get messy!!!!

To prevent pigging out though, I'll usually eat a meal before heading out to gatherings. The holiday season allows me the opportunity to focus on training and nutrition more than other days of the year so I have to take advantage of that. Last time I went on vacation however, I put on a pound a day for 2 weeks straight. Took me nearly 3 months to rectify that problem.

I'm not a big chocolate eater and hate peppermint so I usually go for savory stuff or skip dessert altogether, but my mom's raspberry tart, fluffed jell-o, lemon ice box pie and amaretto cake are good if I'm in the mood for them. Though I still think my version of amaretto cake is better, lol.

Muddy buddies are ok if I don't have to eat more than a handful, Bryer's holiday spice ice cream is really yummy in small amounts and Archway's seasonal wedding cookies are just fucking amazing if I'm allowed to eat all 15 from the box without sharing.
