Have you used YouTube for previews of your videos?

Obviously it would take some editing work (or recording with this idea in advance) to get something clean enough for Youtube.

Has anyone done this?

How effective was it, from a sales or even just an exposure perspective?

Meh. I've tried my damnedest to make YT friendly trailers and they keep getting taken down. The last one showed implied sex between a clothed Slave Leia and R2D2 and it was "inappropriate". Woodrocket attempts to make their trailers YT friendly and though they still have several on their channel, I've seen some getting taken down as well. The thing that sucks most about this is if you promote your YT trailer and it's taken down, it fucks up all the promo you've done for it because now it's just a blank screen. It's super annoying to have a tumblr post get hundreds of notes and then the content in it is inaccessible.

I also got banned from Vimeo, but that was my bad. I was somehow under the false impression that porn was OK and posted all my super graphic trailers. It allows artistic nudity, whatever one's definition of that is.

I hate it so much; lots of social media platforms only allow sharing of video from YT or Vimeo and if it's privately hosted you have to post a link to it that most people won't click. Now I just make videos specifically for YT that are 100% clean, and gifs of my smut to be shared. I wish there was a better option, as I make artsy trailers for all my videos, as does Adult Indie when I work with them. So I have just tons of rad trailers sitting around that I can't really do much with. I play them while I'm on cam when I need to step away for a moment which is nice.

If I recall, I had to add an age restriction to it after a warning.

The only thing that really came of it was some unbecoming comments. No idea if it helped sales or anything.

Full disclosure: I'm a non-nude model, so it's easier for me to find available hosting. However, I do embed my trailers directly onto my profile to intrigue viewers. I can honestly say that with just descriptions, only my dedicated regulars would have bought them. But since adding the teasers, I get random passers-by to purchase them.

I would highly suggest trying to find a section of your video that can be allowed on Youtube (or other hosting site) to embed on your profile, because it is SO worth it.

So then it seems like you would really need to plan on it in advance, or at the very least start your actual video out with some sort of intro that can be posted. After watching some of the Wood Rocket trailers/teasers that are still up, it seems that you can get away with quite a bit really.

With YouTube being one of the biggest search engines out there, it seems to me that it would be worth it to try it out at least.

AmberCutie, with over 20k views, I would assume that at least some of the folks that seen your trailer would have at least Googled you to find more of your work. Have you considered adding more thorough description info/keywords and links to your site or at least your Social info to that video specifically? That might give your a better indication of traffic or interest that is coming from YT.

I am no expert or anything so take any of that for what its worth.

I made a whole youtube for this and it got banned pretty quickly, then moved onto vimeo which was also banned... I think most of these kinds of sites aren't very adult friendly so you might have to have ppl follow you elsewhere so you can give direct links... or someone just really dislikes me lol, maybe a bit of both.

I put short promos on Pornhub for my clips, with big watermarks across the middle to my clipstore. I do notice an increase in sales, especially if I put the link to the exact video. There's also an amateur program on Pornhub, which allows you to earn ad revenue from videos of yourself. It's pennies, like any ad revenue, but pennies add up. It's also not likely to get taken down, which is nice.

I once posted an entirely clean blog video on youtube (I didn't even talk about anything sexual, just casually mentioned I was a camgirl) I was wearing jeans and a Tshirt with no text and a heart on it. It was removed the next day for "violating the TOS". So even if you do your best to keep it clean, Youtube might remove it

I've posted a couple of me just blowing up balloons (fully clothed) and even they've been taken down within 24 hours....the reason given....'Inappropriate Content'. Its a joke really but then again within those 24 hours i can get hundreds of views and thats pretty good for marketing.

That's an important point - regardless of the content of the video, if the description includes banned URLs or words, it will get the video banned and you will never hear the reason... And MFC is a banned URL because it's considered phishing/abuse/spam, because of all those token generator videos.

wanted to add and too late to edit - no one should post any direct links to camsites on yt cause there are kids there - portion of youtube demographics is very young and respect the rules is crucial - also people who do not care for camsites and are browsing youtube should not be subjected to random links like that they don't know what they are - however nudity and all kind of sexy is used in mainstream and commercials and is ok (mainly in perfume commercials and super bowl commercials) and fashion adds and music videos in usa and some other countries and sports illustrated and even playboy has a channel on youtube and these videos are super sexy
